Steve Hackett is my guitar hero, you don't need to thrash a guitar to an inch of its life to be a great guitarist, Steve makes his guitars sing! Never tire of listening to him.
RIGHT , A MIdsummer Nights Dreams and Metamorpheus are 2 Albums with Orchestres composed by Steve Hackett , 2 Classics Compositions it s 2 Guitar Concertos for Orchestre , ask it to other guitarist today or since 80 years , nothing , Hackett his a brain Composer and Hackett play The Ciaconne of Johanne Sebastian Bach and create the tapping guitar technics in 1970 and create many compositions in 70s for genesis , like and since 40 yeears , anyway , we understand
The entire album (2CD + DVD) from Royal Festival Hall is breathtakingly, sensationally great. Every minute you've got goosebumps or tears in your eyes. It is so beautiful, perfectly performed and spectacular. You are so impressed by the power and presence of Jonas on bass & 12-string, awesome skill and energy of Gary on drums (and then he surprises you coming out as a fabulous lead singer!), cool perfection of Roger, multi-instrument prowess of Rob, graceful and subtle contribution by Amanda, and beyond words guitar genius of Steve. After watching the DVD you end up firmly convinced you need look no further for the greatest living guitar player. So tasteful, inventive, rich in techniques, multi-faceted (electric, 12-string, classical nylon) and talented that you never again look at ridiculous rankings of guitar players, most of them reiterating the same group of shredders, and usually focusing on speed playing and metal music (don't get me wrong, I like and respect some of them too).
Love the Wicklow London Irish bloke No fool O'Toole.. Top of the range. Marvellous Percussionist... You'll never beat us Irish... Then again the Italianos... Sure can drive the boogie..
when i think of Voyage Acolyte my God , God Prog Ever for me Steve Hackett merci beaucoup , saw you Montreal Cured Tour , best ever live Show with Brother John , my God , merci 2 brothers
This composition is stupendous in the way it slowly reveals the entire theme over time. I can't recall any other that does this. Kudos to the original bassist.
This track has the ability to reduce me to tears. Only three tracks can do this including ‘Drive Home’ by Steven Wilson and the first guitar solo in ‘Comfortably Numb’.

Roger King. Longstanding collaborator. First worked with him on the first Genesis Revisited album in 1996. He's also part of Nick Beggs' 'The Mute Gods' prog trio, that also includes Marco Minneman, who are well-worth checking out.

Great song but that lengthy intro was unnecessary. It even take out some of the magic of the original overture. But hey, that guy had to shine somewhere.. :)

Rob Townsend makes this wonderful song perfect!
A Magnificient Bolero Ravel in the 80's
Heard this live on the Defector Tour in I think 1981. Opening track at Liverpool Empire. Pure musical talent.
I was at Portsmouth in 1981. Great gig but he seems to get better! Seeing him in October 2024
A single note from Steve is better than a hundred notes from any other guitarist
Hackett's Bolero.
Awesome.

Father of Prog Ever Steve Composer Prog Eagle Master Eagle !!!! WITH THE Master group Ever All Master
Probably the most understated and modest axeman out there. He presents a narrative through his playing.

Fantastic in itself, more so with the orchestra.
Great Track, saw him live in Manchester and the sound was amazing. I get Bolero and possibly Led Zep Kasmir, but all good. Fab

Hackett'Bolero
Song reminds me of the invasion of Russia the Russian front Operation Barbarossa 1942🗝️💀💔🌎🌍🌏
We all hear different things. I hear him deconstructing Ravel's Bolero and then reimagining it into something far superior in an organic way.

Thanks so much for the info...metaltalk
Is the keyboardist Steve's brother?
No. Steve's brother John, plays flute, woodwinds, bass pedals and guitar but isn't on this song. More's the pity. He's far better than Townsend.
His current keys are played by Roger King
😁
just try play the Ciaconnne of Johann Bach like Steve Hackett just try lloloooo
