Mario Pedal - Playing old school game songs on guitar using an 8 bit crusher

- The Mario 8 bit crusher pedal is an awesome way to play old school game songs on the guitar. I am new to guitar pedals and I have seen some crazy weird pedals out there, however this one appealed to my nostalgia and inner child. Guess i am an old school gamer.
I am now making regular content so please subscribe and hit the bell and all of that to see more videos.
On top of this UA-cam channel I teach guitar guitar over skype call

Loved playing Mario bros, Pac Man, Pokemon, Tetris and other things. I would love to play other game tunes but I don't know many more game tunes. I know a lot more from Pokemon though.
2:15 Starts playing pedal.
Thanks for the comment, have pinned it for others to see :)
It's a bit crusher, it breaks your signal down into lesser and lesser bits. I wanted to hear this one in comparison with 'the mainframe' by EHX. Good video.. oh, and can I please have that one?
I now use this pedal a fair bit at the guitar clubs and let my students play with it. I've not heard the EHX one, but I will keep an eye out for it.
That sounds more a like a ring modulator rather than a bit crusher
its cause the setting used in the video, close to a ring mod, still a bc
What does it sound like on a bass guitar? Btw: Run that decimator through a drum machine or real drums and it’s absolutely INSANE.
That is a great question. I will test it out and get back to you :)
It sounds just as fun. I found I had to put the bit control lower to get a good game sound out of it though.
the distributor accidentally sent two Mario pedals instead of the harmonizers we ordered. ummm I hate to sound old, but I dicked with that thing for 10 minutes and found no useful sounds. happy for you that you did. PS I know where to get a good deal on a couple of them.
😂 that deal sounds good. Shame you couldn't find a good sound. It is a bit challenging to find. Hope you get that Harmonizer soon
3 years later you’ve got a new sub man!!
6:01 boss music. love it
I usually use it to create an aggressive lofi effect for launch metal parts in my band. Difficult pedal to use on a playing but perfect to create atmosphere and noise
That makes sense. Using this for atmospheric sounds could work quite well. Good idea
whats the name of your band? where can i listen something?

@@Dressrosarame I used the Mario pedal on the initial noise adding a fuzz and a reverb. I'll release a new album this year and there is track when I use it to launch breakdown
I really like this format. Your talking sections are good
Thank you. I appreciate that I know some people just want to hear it so it can be hard to find the right balance.
Dude that vid was great. The Mario song was funny as hell. New sub, look forward to more vids, thx!
Thank you. glad you enjoyed it. I need to do some more fun style videos like this one
Lmao doom soundtrack!
Totally should learn it and play it through this.
@@TheGuitarNinja I would SMASH the like button on such a video.
Good video mate, thanks for the insight, I’ve been wondering when I’d use one if I had this effect, not very often but I suppose a fun effect to have on your board and mash peoples heads up occasionally at a gig would be a laugh, when you played your big boss theme on bass strings I thought it sounded kool and would be useable sometimes. Thanks.
Awesome. Glad to help. It is a super fun pedal and the bass trick was a surprise to me, b it does work.
very cool!
I love it, so fun to play around with.
I paused the video when you played Tetris and bought one.
Perfect comment! Glad you like it. Hows it going with the pedal now? assuming its arrived.
@@TheGuitarNinja first thing I did was learn how to play the Tetris theme song lol it’s a lot of fun. Haven’t messed around with it too much, but very cool
@@billyscarbrough fair enough. I do the same. Play a bit and then leave it there. So glad you’ve enjoyed it.
I reckon you should jus make a piece of music using this pedal and then edit it abit so it's listenable
Great vid as usual. Keep up the good work. :-)
Thank you James :D - what else should I try with the mario pedal?
Nice vid Rorz
Thank you :D
Sound like toys and crasy comnifire
No wonder it sounds like shit. You put PRS through a £30 pedal!!!
What you need to do is get a Gibson Custom Shop and then shove that through this pedal. 🤣🤣🤣
😂😂
Blah blah blah! Play the damn pedal!
Sorry, some people like some context with the videos as well. perhaps a time stamp would help. I believe someone has commented a time stamp for when I start playing, but if not I will add one and pin the comment.
@@TheGuitarNinja SOME context is nice
@@TheBlessedMeek bruh he wasn't talking that much calm down
👍
Dude! You talk TOO MUCH
