More like in a cave or something that's next to the ocean. You can hear the waves on the rocks outside of the opening, the water dripping from the ceiling, and the echo off the walls. Plus, sound doesn't travel underwater.
Mermaids drown Sailors and Pirates, they are considered more pure. As Sirens sing songs that you could say cast a spell on men, making them tip over the edge of ships and then eat their bodies and souls. Sirens will not just go near land unless it is needed, they also do not typically go out during the day, it's like going towards your death sentence. Though Sirens can trance a man's mind, there are objects that can be enchanted and a man can hold that on him to keep him from being tranced by the Siren's Song. Source: I am fascinated with Merfolk Mythology
Stormie Stilettos Actually Sirens are not merfolk at all. In Greek mythology mermaids were half-fish. half-women creatures that were thought to mingle with humans and have children with them, like the Greek hero Achilles. Granted, mermaids legends can be traced back farther then Ancient Greece but that is the more common time where people know of them. Mermaids were known for being beautiful but not known for their singing or even killing sailors but there is probably some tales of that. Sirens on the other hand, according the Greek mythology, were not fish at all. They were half-women, half-bird like creatures that were known for their enchanting singing but not for their looks. They were sing and cause ships to crash on the shore and kill those on the ship as prey. Siren are described as talons, wings with feathers and beaks and mostly bodies of a bird with a head of a woman. Though sometimes they could be shown with the upper body of a woman as well. (For more information visit knowledgenuts.com/2014/02/05/the-difference-between-mermaids-and-sirens/) And the mermaids in the video are more 'realistic' then Ariel was. Ariel is a watered down and sweet vision of the mermaid and was loosely based off the novel "The Little Mermaid" by Hans Christian Anderson. I say loosely because a lot is different from the novel when looking at the Disney movie but that can be expected when the tale was made kid friendly. I'm not sure when Siren and Mermaids became one and the same but according to the mythology they were very different and only similar being that they were women and both close to the sea/ocean.
Tori Guyette I am quite aware that they are not merfolk... but they are mentioned in merfolk's mythology and I know the difference. I never said they were merfolk.
+AweAsome Gally yeah it all started with Greek mythology, since Greek were patriarchal who overcome matriarchal population who were in the region , they make sure to make everything about women look evil .. and that when started the stupid endless war against everything feminine :D
Clawy - Roblox & More! The ones shown in the movie that sung this song were sirens. There’s a huge difference. Mermaids are considered more pure and only accidentally drown men they fall in love with. Most of the time they don’t get that the men can’t breathe underwater. Sirens have hypnotizing voices and deceiving beautiful faces they use to hypnotize men before dragging them under the water and eating their bodies and souls.
@@mychemicalromancewillpierc5241 Actually, sirens are originally half bird half woman. They hypnotize sailors with their voice and then eat them. Mermaids just sing and drown them. People kept confusing them over the years.
Z0mbieJuice mermaids are nice creatures sirens are evil creatures who sing a song to control the pirates, and they can only control/hypnotize men sirens are evil mermaids are good, sirens and mermaids also look different
MLP Kawaii Yuli u r right my friend was like what r sirens and I said the bad kind if mermaid and that can hypnotize and when they kiss they turn to stone

Wait what. I've listened to this song at least ten, maybe even twenty times already and I fell for it sickly but was pretty sure it's original. Then even more, FANTASTIC JOB GODDAMN.
I find it so amusing that my music teacher finds it very calm and hypnotizing when I sing this too. But I really love your version best. It's so alluring and echo-y.
I gotta say, I love it. Ps: I used it to scare my friends at work, it was all desert in the building and the walls produce a lot of echo. I started playing it on the first floor and walked the stairs up to the second, they were there getting some food and were scared as fuck, 10/10
On speakers, shifting , electronics, aimed at the ocean, under the pier. Sound shifted, echoed, human brain, !? Ears, sound shifted..from your left or right!? Underneath the pier or coming from the waves!? I love you, scared MANY, MARINES!?. FADING, changing the direction, couldn't pinpoint,!? Confused as ****? Yup!
I've been listening to this for years now and I still can't fathom the perfection of your voice and singing style. You gotta be a mermaid. There's no other explanation.

wait a girl on a beach sad and a man named William going off to sea and she thinks she will never see him again. is it just me or does that sound like Elizabeth and William
I guess it’s more of a deceitful song. Like it kinda gives me the vibes that she saw the sailor and had an flirty talk with him and she wants to be with him because he might never return when he leaves, so she wants to keep him with her... in the sea 🌊 Just me though.
i first discovered your incredible voice from your 'When A Good Man Goes to War' cover, and i instantly fell in love with the sound. I made a playlist so i could specifically use this as a sleep calmer.
I'm always so inspired to write about mermaids when I hear this song.... Yeah, I'm gonna write one while I get addicted to this wonderful, awesome song!! >:D
C'mere kids and let me clear this whole mermaid/siren thing up Siren= bird ladies from Greek mythology that tempted sailors with promises of what the sailors want most Mermaid= fish ladies from Celtic mythology that distracted sailors with music and then drowned them when they got too close
wow your voice is so mysterious! it fits the song just perfectly! I feel like if I were to look outside my window, I'd see a bunch of sirens swimming around. lol really though, wonderful job dearie.

The only scene I like about Pirates of the Caribbean. Many movies have " Femme Fatale" theme but this is one of several that actually nailed it. Chills to even look at the actress and imagine manipulation. Brrr
Okay, not to be rude but it bugs me so two things: 1. Pirates of the Caribbean 2. Femme Fatale. By chance, are you French? Because that would explain why you said 'Fam' instead of 'Femme'.

Out of all the covers that I've seen, this one is absolutely the best on this platform! Just imagine a sailor hearing this in the ocean and only just one mermaid singing while the other pretty fair maids are basically ready to feast on the poor fellow like how a Velociraptor pack catches their prey by the sides. Take that idea when this song stops! The sailor would never know the other mermaids were there!
If you really love a sailor you realize that roaming over the sea is who they are and you accept that. It’s the same concept that inspired the Little Mermaid tale I am told.

maybe just a little creepo. i mean its pretty good, but it's not just her voice. It's the way she did the song. either she's in a bathroom with a leaky faucet, or she put this audio through some sort of cave like environment and then added the dripping sound after. Either way, it's the environment and dripping water that makes this song absolutely flawless. And of course her singing has no flaws either. 10/10 but if asked to perform this live it wouldnt sound quite the same. But then again, look at K$sha. She has a great voice too, but a lot of her songs are autotuned, so its the same thing.
I actually sing this everytime I take a bath and my cousins told me how deep my voice is that it was almost hypnotic, well that one year voice lesson did pay off 😂😂
you have to be a good singer to sound good with no music or other singers

(For more information visit knowledgenuts.com/2014/02/05/the-difference-between-mermaids-and-sirens/)
And the mermaids in the video are more 'realistic' then Ariel was.
Tori Guyette a lot of the whole mermaid drowning sailors is from british and namely irish mythology.
+AweAsome Gally yeah it all started with Greek mythology, since Greek were patriarchal who overcome matriarchal population who were in the region , they make sure to make everything about women look evil .. and that when started the stupid endless war against everything feminine :D
interested in daemons and demonic creatures based off of the seven sins?(I.e.succubus)?
A humans voice can be so beautiful oml
you sound like a siren your voice is just hypnotizing
Drago Von Angelius it s a mermaid.
Drago Von Angelius ddd
Siren is the real name of mermaids
Without music it kinda sounds scary... in my opinion
It's suppose to they are mermaids.. They are deadly
you mean creepy as fuck
Z0mbieJuice mermaids are nice creatures sirens are evil creatures who sing a song to control the pirates, and they can only control/hypnotize men sirens are evil mermaids are good, sirens and mermaids also look different
MLP Kawaii Yuli u r right my friend was like what r sirens and I said the bad kind if mermaid and that can hypnotize and when they kiss they turn to stone
:D
The voice is great.
But this version scares and makes me shudder every times I listen, especially during the night.
I love it. It's like a lullaby to me ;-)
+Abc Pqrs same hahaha even if I think I prefer Mordred's lullaby
same here...I feel so warm while listening to this
don't know what scares you at night but it calms me down o.o
great lullaby
Singing au naturale without accompaniment is perhaps the hardest feat of all.
I can give no higher praise.

Your voice enchants like Siren song,
So if you be a mermaid,
Death by your hands could do no wrong.
Oh Siren do embrace me,
I will be your sailor bold.
if only that was a song and it were on iTunes ide buy it

As soon as she started singing, I spaced out.
Siren song love it's a spell 😘
I had no idea this was a cover, this is my favorite version.
I love how it's only her voice. :D
o.0 i actually thought this was the original version, not a cover XD
Me too!
Wait what. I've listened to this song at least ten, maybe even twenty times already and I fell for it sickly but was pretty sure it's original. Then even more, FANTASTIC JOB GODDAMN.
Me to the original in my opinion is..... FUCKING TRASH
Me too
I find it so amusing that my music teacher finds it very calm and hypnotizing when I sing this too.
Hahahahahaha! Oh, I'm doing that if I start working at a silent place that has a lot of echo. Just imagine.
Meeeee tooooo I love scaring people
On speakers, shifting , electronics, aimed at the ocean, under the pier. Sound shifted, echoed, human brain, !? Ears, sound shifted..from your left or right!? Underneath the pier or coming from the waves!? I love you, scared MANY, MARINES!?. FADING, changing the direction, couldn't pinpoint,!? Confused as ****? Yup!
Like if you'd rather be a siren
+Eddie Pryor lol id want to be one
I definitely would
out of anything, I would chose to be a siren
Sirens are large birds with the head of a person.... So I'd rather have rather have the bottom of a fish.
That's a Harpy.
I've been listening to this for years now and I still can't fathom the perfection of your voice and singing style. You gotta be a mermaid. There's no other explanation.
The person who did this cover is either
A.
The oylimpic swimmer AKA The blond-haired mermaid/Siren singing this for her fans or
B.
An angel-like person with a like-no-other person's voice, A.K.A, An excellent singer!
***** I didn't mean the model.

The answer is B I believe

Good no mermaids are near... I would give in without blinking once mate
same
but sirens are birdlike creatures not mermaid knockoffs.
found both mermaids and half bird half women for sirens soooo yeah, personally i think a mermaid makes more sense
Daniyyal Yahya I am merman, would u give in to mermen?
Taonga Rigato+ you need to check your sources. The greek half bird women you just described are called harpies.
wait a girl on a beach sad and a man named William going off to sea and she thinks she will never see him again. is it just me or does that sound like Elizabeth and William
Pepsi Man I've only just realised that
Lol it is them
I guess it’s more of a deceitful song. Like it kinda gives me the vibes that she saw the sailor and had an flirty talk with him and she wants to be with him because he might never return when he leaves, so she wants to keep him with her... in the sea 🌊
Just me though.
i first discovered your incredible voice from your 'When A Good Man Goes to War' cover, and i instantly fell in love with the sound. I made a playlist so i could specifically use this as a sleep calmer.
My jolly sailor bold
Her vocal is mesmerizing and addictive
I'm always so inspired to write about mermaids when I hear this song.... Yeah, I'm gonna write one while I get addicted to this wonderful, awesome song!! >:D
Mihela Qungik I better get a copy lol
It's amazing how beautiful this version is even though it has NO instrumental music
C'mere kids and let me clear this whole mermaid/siren thing up
Siren= bird ladies from Greek mythology that tempted sailors with promises of what the sailors want most
Mermaid= fish ladies from Celtic mythology that distracted sailors with music and then drowned them when they got too close
You are not fully right with both. But k.
I have been listening to this for the last 4 hours, and I still love it
wow your voice is so mysterious! it fits the song just perfectly! I feel like if I were to look outside my window, I'd see a bunch of sirens swimming around. lol really though, wonderful job dearie.
incredible work. Need this one in studio quality!
Those are the kind of eyes that can drown a man without the need to pull him into the depth of the ocean.
Haunting, beautiful, and perfect.
If you google "Jolly Sailor Bold", this is the first video in the results. Congratulations, Stephanie, you deserve it. I hope you get a recording contract out of it because you have an incredible voice and your rendition of this is absolutely perfect.
with a voice like that I wouldn't mind drowning
Seriously are you a mermaid? Because you've just clouded my mind with your beautiful singing.
Stephanie Lee
Only droplet sounds in the background makes it so perfect.
BEAUTIFUL!
I love this song, because I scared my brother singing it
G.J girl ;3
was he scared because its creepy or the fact your singing 'My jolly sailor bold' to your brother.
Dead M sir you've won 1 million likes. so just keep that in mind when viewing your viewable likes.

Yuuki Kisaragi Nope I'm not french. Simply moment of ignorance on my part =] . Thank you for correcting.

I'm Just So Addicted To Sing This All The Time XD Her Voice Is Amazing :)
How beautifully haunting a softly sung ballad can reach into the depth of a Soul.
I love how there are no instruments involved, just her beautiful voice
Not her voice, watch the movie
Keke Lopez this is a cover, it's not from the movie
You have a wonderful voice. Disney should've hired you for the soundtrack version of this! :)
You can't hear her breath in for those clear tones.
It makes it so perfectly gloriously eery
I closed my eyes while listening, it was so beautiful I couldn’t breath, that’s when I realized I was underwater
It's really beautiful..
This is such a mesmerizing song, no wonder it draws young sailors in
People like this need to sing songs not the un talented people that sing now
The problem is the style they sing. No beauty to their voice's potential.
His eyes are as black as coal? Quick! Someone call Sam and Dean!
+TikiDragon1 She means he has pretty eyes from what I can tell...(My eyes are pretty black as well :P )
+uygar başkaya I figured that. I was just kidding.
TikiDragon1 I know mate.
nothing the winchesters cant fix. :P
lol
This sounds absolutely beautiful and has been the best cover of this song that I could find.
Very haunting and mysterious. I love your voice.
Your such a good singer
Out of all the covers that I've seen, this one is absolutely the best on this platform! Just imagine a sailor hearing this in the ocean and only just one mermaid singing while the other pretty fair maids are basically ready to feast on the poor fellow like how a Velociraptor pack catches their prey by the sides. Take that idea when this song stops! The sailor would never know the other mermaids were there!
As I said on your Proof It's Me video, you have a beautiful voice.
Those mermaids had beautiful voices, but none of theirs can beat yours.
What an amazing voice.
Best rendition of this song ever, best voice for it! Still listening to it 4 years later!
i literally can't listen to any other version than this one anymore
If you really love a sailor you realize that roaming over the sea is who they are and you accept that. It’s the same concept that inspired the Little Mermaid tale I am told.
I like how you can sit and listen to this over and over.
The voice is quite relaxing and mesmerizing. It is very deep and rich. It fits the song well.
I Think I'm A Little Too Addicted To This xD
+Roseberryproductions It's just the Siren's kicking in. Stay away from their waters!!

WHY AM I IN LOVE WITH THIS MERMAID AAAAAAAA
For all the Americans, The places mentioned are in East London, the same place jack the ripper was from and near where the Olympics was, they still exist. There is also a famous Blackwall tunnel. Tower Hill is in Tower Hamlets and has a train station too.
She actually does sound and look beautiful aha
Wowowow...You are amazing! I've fallen in love with your voice! No creepo!
maybe just a little creepo. i mean its pretty good, but it's not just her voice. She has a great voice too, but a lot of her songs are autotuned, so its the same thing.
damn love the voice..comin back here again and again every few months
No music or backing just beautifully sung by a lady with a lovely voice
Chills all over
I cannot get this song out of my head
I am just now finding you, beautiful talent.
I actually sing this everytime I take a bath and my cousins told me how deep my voice is that it was almost hypnotic, well that one year voice lesson did pay off 😂😂
