    Dude all your videos are great! THANK YOU!!!! I just talked with a PTA and my first thought when I was done was "I like that!" This might be the first time I'm excited to go to school and start a new career!

    I get anxiety attacks thinking about applying. My community college accepts 25-27 out of 100-115+ people that apply. Talk about competitive. I'm 22 (Already have 3 years of college under my belt since I decided to take basic classes, but no associates degree, 1 year of it was for business classes, basically wasting time and money because my parents kept pushing me to keep going to school even though I kept telling them I had no idea what I was doing). I decided on becoming a PTA last year. The medical field interested me and I really want a career that involves helping people get better. I took A&P 1 and made a D. I took Algebra 1 (because it's required to) and ended up dropping the class. Did I give it my all? Honestly, no. I got easily discouraged when I sat down and realized that it took endless of hours to understand something. I feel unintelligent, unfortunately, and I had a bad experience in college that haunts me when my physics professor called me out for having the lowest test grade in class. (I didn't study at all for it.) I never felt so stupid. The realization that the years are going by, I'm still living with my parents and that I'm still a cashier makes me want to, first of all, question why I was even placed on this Earth, and then makes me want to just go for it, even if I fail miserably just as I have so often in the past. I don't feel adequate, but maybe that's a self esteem issue. I guess it just takes confidence, hard work and dedication. You gotta really want it, but I am so anxious. I just know that if I get to 30, I would want to slap 22 year old me and yell why didn't you at least try. I haven't even applied for it, but the thought of them not accepting me makes me want to puke/sob. Sorry for the rant. It's 4 a.m. and I'm literally freaking out about my future.

      Steph we are all here on this earth for a reason, it wasn’t a random coincidence that your great grandparents met, and then your grandparents met, and then your mom and dad met, to have you. There is a purpose for your life and I believe that you have great potential but you just might not realize it yet. Listen, I get anxious all the time as well, I was nervous I wasn’t going to get accepted into the program, then I was nervous I wasn’t going to pass the program, then my final exam, then getting a job, and so on. But I realized something, if I continually base my anxiety on a moment or stage of life I’m in, I will always be anxious because new stuff always arises. But if instead I put my trust in something more valuable then I can overcome my anxiety. Steph I believe that in Jesus we can find the rest we are looking for, and I’m not talking about a corny religious belief, I’m talking about a genuine relationship with Jesus. If you don’t believe I’m not trying to persuade you or anything like that, I’m just sharing my own thoughts.
      You might apply to the program 4 different times and get rejected but the fifth time could be the one! I used to be afraid to fail but that fear that I had was only holding me back, I’ve failed multiple times but I’ve learned something new each time!
      Keep your head up and keep trying! If you need help let me know! Or find a tutor, or ask others for help! You can do it!
      I’m rooting for you!

      There's nothing random about you being here. You were made in the likeness and image of God. I was so lost. But now I am found. Seek the God of the bible and he will set your paths straight. You're here for a reason not just some chance. The probability of you being a chance is insane. There's a better chance that a tornado goes through a junk yard and makes a fighter jet than you and everything on this earth being a chance. God will guide you. Bible says to seek first the kingdom of God and everything will he added to you. He will give you the desires of your heart in his will. Be blessed you guys

      Steph I’m in the EXACT same boat and feel the same way, 22 and kinda stuck just working a part time job. Just core class and no real desire or passion to get a degree in something, until I found about this program. I get anxiety about it too, but I’m gonna try my hardest and see where it goes. I encourage you to do the same. Just letting you know you’re not alone out there

      Just turned 26 and just applied for the program for Fall 2019. Just this last year decided this is what I wanted to do, although I've taken 4 years of college previously. The program here is competitive as well, only 15 get accepted out of 90+ applicants each year. I am not going to let that hold me back, I know that if I put down the effort, raise my GPA, do well on the TEAS, and kill my interview I will get accepted. In my head I have a 90% chance of getting in, no matter how unrealistic it may be. I've always been stubborn but there is no way that there is 15 other people applying this year that want it worse than I do, and thats why I'm going to be accepted. Have that mindset and to others it will show.

    This video was very helpful for someone who is in the starting stages (not even in college at the moment) after high school I became a flight attendant, now 23 love my job but I want a more consistent job, something to start a family and be home every night. I took sports medicine in high school and loved it, i got the student of the year award. And wished to pursue sports medicine but didn’t want to do 8+ years of school. For a while I’ve been thinking about pta but just recently did research. And I am thankful you’re doing these videos Antonio. Right now I’m just doing research on how to get started with the college process, because I thought you apply to a college and also to the pta program, but the pta program comes after the basic classes you need. If I am understanding correctly. Thanks Antonio. 🙏🏼

    • @AntonioSanson
      @AntonioSanson  6 років тому

      Trini that’s so cool! And yah that makes more sense when you want to start a family.
      So to clear that up for you,,, how it works is you apply to the college, get accepted, start taking the required prerequisite classes, and when you are almost done with all your classes you apply for the program.
      In total, including your pre reqs, it should take 2-3 years to complete.
      Usually the college will provide you with a sheet that has each semester on it with the classes you need to take for that semester.

      I’m a flight attendant too lol. Looking for something more stable. The schedule kills me. I’m thinking of my future and family. So I just want to be home every night. I’m just not sure when I want to take the leap from my current job to going back to school. I’m 24, already graduated with a bachelors (which honestly felt like a waste) and now I’m trying to pay down debt. So I’m just worried about finances and timing.

    I'm currently attending Kellogg Community College in Michigan. I have just decided to change to their PTA program. I am just at the beginning but I'm excited. I will be working full time this fall because I be married by then and I'll need a decent and solid income. So going to school part time is my only option. I'm okay with that though, maybe next summer I can take some classes to speed it up. :)

    Hello Antonio, I'm thinking about going into the PTA program, but since it's a demanding program that the director recommends taking an extra science course because of points. On top of that I still have like 5 more prerequisites to take. How do you recommend I take these classes? Should I knock them all out in one semester or break them up through out the year so that I can apply in 2019. As of now I'm taking classes for LVN, but I'm torn between the two. My brother has been a PTA for 5 years now and he loves it. I'm just stuck in what I want to do.

    • @AntonioSanson
      @AntonioSanson  6 років тому

      Melissa Guajardo it depends on if you can manage the work load.
      If you feel like it would be too much for you then space it out so you can get better grades so you can get accepted into the program.
      If you think you can work hard and get good grades then really buckle down so you can get good grades so you don’t have to reapply or have to retake a class.
      I really enjoy being a PTA but my brother is also a nurse and he likes that. Your role changes a lot from a nurse to a pta though.

    How are tattoos viewed in the PTA field? Can someone be turned down for a job if they have tattoos?

    • @AntonioSanson
      @AntonioSanson  6 років тому +1

      i know that my program along with many others don’t let you show visible tattoos especially when you get into clinicals and even more when you go to get a job. They are off limits.
      Now having said this I know a lot of people who work in physical therapy and even some of my friends in the program and past colleagues who have had tattoos lol.
      You will have to wear long sleeves for the program to keep them covered, and even probably to get a job, but once you are in the field for a while and get to know your boss I don’t think they are as strict.
      Personally I don’t really see what the big deal is. I think what matters most is how effective you are at treating patients and being nice to people lol.

    I am currently enrolled to LoneStar College Montgomery here in Texas. What is ACT/SAT??? TEAS exam??? is that the same thing as TSI(Texas Success Initiative)??? And about the references, can I put my parents on it???

    • @AntonioSanson
      @AntonioSanson  6 років тому +1

      JM YABUT The SAT/ACT is a standardized test widely used for college admissions in the United States.
      TEAS exam is a test taken by all health science related fields in college. Your program director can tell you more about it.
      I would recommend putting previous teachers or previous employers as your references

    Hey Antonio,
    I’m having the hardest time with the written portion on my application. Aside from the typical requirements you’ve stated, there’s no interviews for my school. All I have to stand out is two direct questions, “why do you want to enter the pt field” and “list any special skills/abilities that will make you an asset to this profession”. I don’t know how long is a sufficient amount written for an associates level program. Should I lean more towards the personal statement formats for masters/grad programs incorporating stories, experiences, epiphanies etc. or would it be inappropriate for an associates program. Mind you, the director for my program gets about 350 applications and accepts about 30. Do you have any advice on this? I’m in a dilemma between inappropriately over doing it with unnecessary stories and being looked over with the typical “I’m passionate and want to bring a positive change in someone’s life”, which is frowned upon in upper division school applications.

    In regards to having prerequisites done before applying...what if you are applying to multiple schools & they have different requirements for pre-reqs? One school I am looking at requires Biology I & II as well as AP I & II, the other requires those as well as some other gen-ed courses.

    • @AntonioSanson
      @AntonioSanson  6 років тому

      Alicia Scott good question,
      Honestly I don’t know for sure,
      If it’s their requirement then most likely you will have to complete those classes.
      But I would call and talk to the director first. Sometimes if you have taken a different class that is similar to the required one then they will accept it.
      From my experience, the college I went to accepted some of my classes for credits even though they weren’t the exact class but they were relatable
      So call and ask!

      Erik Contreras the first college I went to apply at just had a waiting list program, so anyone who applied just got put on a list and when everyone who applied before you went through the program then you got a turn,
      I ended up switching schools because the director told me it would be about 3 years before it was my turn to go through the program.
      The next college I attended was a competitive one and they only accepted the top 30

    Hello Antonio,
    I watched some of your videos today. Im currently a high school senior with a dream job of a PTA. Is it possible to get a bachelor's degree in exercise science/kinesiology/athletic training then go for the PTA program? Is this pathway too unusual?
    I have been looking for further information about PTA programs, and some say high school graduates can start applying, some say pre reqs must be completed in advance
    I feel so confused. I hope you can reply me soon, thank you!

    • @AntonioSanson
      @AntonioSanson  6 років тому

      Phuong Le you can get your bachelors first and then pta degree second.
      I would almost recommend doing it the other way around though that way you can work as a pta while you go on to get your bachelors,
      It depends on the college and the program that you go to.
      How mine worked was I started taking prerequisites but I was able to apply to the program before I completed them.
      Try asking the college you are looking to go to!

    I'm a sophomore in college right now and I've been stuck on which career field I'm more interested in, whether that be PTA or recreation therapy or even psychology. I think because of my uncertainty I haven't exactly been trying as hard as I should, I've been so confused on what job field is right for me. Leaning more towards PTA I'm just curious about how difficult it actually is to get into one of these programs and if they look at how many times you've retaken a class (2nd time taking Human Anatomy and Physiology) versus how dedicated you are to the career.

    • @AntonioSanson
      @AntonioSanson  6 років тому

      All the fields have ups and downs that come with them. There are probably parts of each job that you will love and other parts that you just have to do. For me, I love working with patients but I don't enjoy writing notes but that comes with the career. I have similar interests as you and becoming a recreational therapist or physiologist both sound like interesting fields to me as well!
      Becoming a pta was a faster route for me to start working in that is why I kind of leaned towards that route.
      Grades and how many times you have to take a class are important to most colleges, some requirements are that you can't retake the class too many times, but this depends on the college. Also it depends on how competitive the program is as well.

    • @mirandaneedham4686
      @mirandaneedham4686 6 років тому

      Antonio Sanson if it weren’t for it being faster what job field do you think you would have gone into? Or how much do you know about recreational therapy? I was looking into it a bit but it’s still kind of confusing to me, it seems like it’s really similar to PTA. Psychology has always been something that has struck an interest just a lot of people have told me how hard it is to find a job in that career choice! :/

    • @AntonioSanson
      @AntonioSanson  6 років тому

      Yah those are the downsides of those careers. Its harder to find jobs in psychology or being a recreational therapist. Especially where I live there are not a lot of recreational therapists in my area because I live in a rural area, but the job itself sounds really enjoyable. They get to do a lot of fun activities like golfing, bowling, going on trips and what not.
      Psychology intrigues me a lot and I loved learning about it in school.

Do The United States will acknowledge it or not? Do I need to take a licencing exam again here in the U.S. before I can get a job? Similarly, is it possible to get hired a PT graduate to a PTA job?. Furthermore, I keep thinking all the possibilities, for instance, if I did not finish my academics or be an undergraduate can I still get a job related to that profession? Thank you very much with your response. Have a great day.

      JM YABUT
      Contact the licensing authority in the jurisdiction in which you want to practice for the most up-to-date information on licensure requirements.
      Some states let you transfer the score you got on your test to that state.
      If you are a PT you can still do the same things a PTA does but you will also be required to do more as well like evals and what not.
      You can get a job as a PT aide still even if you don’t finish school!
      Hope this helps!

The harder part is getting good grades once you begin classes. What are your study habits like? You will really have to buckle down and work hard, you don’t have to be super smart to be a pta but you have to definitely try hard and take time to study.

      Kerlande Louis being a waitress can allow you to either work mornings or nights and depending on your boss you can switch between the two.
      Studying tips varies by the person. Some people in my program used flash cards, or quizlet, or study off PowerPoint slides of the lecture, or read the book, or color coded their books with different highlighters,
      Myself personally would study the important details or the book and then study off the PowerPoint slides and did group studying

    After u get ur associates do u gotta go to the program or is it together. And if it’s not together how long does it take

      Hailey Fontana when you complete the program you will get your associates degree.
      The length of a PTA program is typically 2 years (5 semesters) consisting of general education course, physical therapy courses, and clinical education.

    Where is a good place to get inpatient observation hours? All of the places I have called said I needed to be licensed in order to observe people in their homes? What?!

      You can check out skilled nursing facilities, hospitals, or rehabilitation centers. If you call and ask to job shadow you should be able to find something. You may need to get like a TB test to be able to job shadow in a hospital but you shouldn't need a license to be able to go into those places.

    I am guessing since I am planning to do my Pre-requisites next semester starting January and having the deadline for the Fall 2019 PTA program application be Jan 25th 2019, I guess I’m automatically out for next upcoming year?
    I was looking to start as soon as possible. But seems like they need my pre requisites for the application. Is there anyway to work around this or do I just have to give it another year (2020)?

      I'd talk to the director of the program if I were you to see if there is a way you can get in the 2019 program. Maybe you can take an accelerated prerequisite course so you can start the pta program on time. I'd ask the college first and explain your situation. My college was nice enough to work with me so I could start the program right away like you are wanting to.

      Antonio Sanson ahh thank you! I will definitely talk to them. So it’s a competitive program I just found out so I highly doubt they’d do anything for me but I’m still young and do not mind waiting. Thanks again Antonio!
