    It just doesn’t seem fair that we have to prove ourselves when other career fields get paid exceedingly more and yet do nothing for the communities or the people.

    I really appreciate your videos because I just started my prerequisites courses and the competition at my school is really insane. They only accept 20 people and i'm really nervous, your videos are really helpful

    Great video man. I noticed when I was applying how applications vary from school to school, interesting but feel like it can make it difficult to apply to numerous schools

      Josue Ramirez that’s a good point!
      I don’t know why they don’t make a general guideline for all programs to follow.
      It would be way easier that way when applying

    So, getting into a PTA school where I just moved to is not very competitive. I would say almost alarmingly so. There are 6 programs within an hour and 20 mins of me. So, roughly 120 new grads a year into the field in my local area. That’s the only big reservation I have about doing a program. The program I’m considering which is supposed to be viewed as a superior program to the others averages around 25 applicants or less and accepts 20. I feel like the pre-reqs are pretty easy requirements based on other places I’ve lived. Only required A&P I (not 2). No expiration dates on pre-reqs. 15 years old…No problem. This gives me pause about what it means for the job market. Basically begging people for o get into the program…Are they having a hard time getting interest in the program because aren’t many positions available here? Outside of cold calling around to offices…I don’t know how I can get non-biased answers. Obviously the schools want to paint a sunny job outlook to get new students. Any thoughts on concerns over this? Suggestions about getting information on employment opportunities vs how many PTAs live here? I do think this is probably a wonderful career but that won’t do many any good if I can’t find work doing it. 🤷🏻‍♀️😆

    Hope you are having a good day. The PTA program I’m looking into requires a minimum of 40 observation hours. How many observation hours do you think I should try to get?

    • @AntonioSanson
      @AntonioSanson  6 років тому +2

      Big L at least 40 lol.
      See how you are liking it and try to get in some different settings like a hospital, outpatient clinic, SNF, that way you can see which one you like best and observe until you feel like you got a basic understanding of what to expect.
      And also just by going to different clinics of the same setting you can see how clinics are run differently.

    I am thinking about this field. I am 43 and have been working as a medical lab technician for 24 years. I am interested in PTA because I am more interested in physical health the older a become. Are all PTA schools competitive? Do you think there are any PTA schools that do not always have a full class?

    • @AntonioSanson
      @AntonioSanson  6 років тому +5

      Danny Petersen I’m glad you are considering going into physical therapy!
      Not all programs are competitive. Some programs you get put on a waiting list and you get accepted when they get to your name on the list but sometimes that can take a few years. Also most programs are going over to a competitive program.
      Usually every PTA program is a full class. If the program does not get enough students to enroll in the program then they lose their accreditation
      Most programs accept around 20-30 students
      Hopefully this helps!

    • @dannypetersen1138

      Thanks, that helps a lot. The school I am looking at does go by the point system. They do give points if you already work in the medical field. I'll just try to get as many points I can. Do you have any suggestions on some books I can buy now. I would like to get a better understanding what a pta will by studying. Thanks, Danny

    • @AntonioSanson
      @AntonioSanson  6 років тому

      Danny Petersen I’m not going to list a specific book because they update them like every year.
      But some topics to learn for PTA’s are:
      kinesiology- study of muscles and how the body moves
      Therapeutic exercise- know how to progress exercises and which exercises are for what muscle groups,
      Understand diseases related to physical therapy
      And safety measures for each activity you perform in this profession
      That should help get you started to look up some brief information on these subjects!

    I have a rather unique situation where I'm halfway through a 4 year military enlistment and have the opportunity to use Tuition Assistance while I'm in to basically knock out an Associates Degree before I apply to a PTA program for when I get out. What associates do you recommend pursuing? Currently enrolled in a Pre-Nursing Associates of Sciences degree plan. Thank you for your time.

    • @AntonioSanson
      @AntonioSanson  6 років тому +1

      Mark Byrd associates in applied science or associates in science.
      But if I were you I would see if I could just go straight into the program because the total length of the pta program plus your prerequisites is only 2 years.
      And when you graduate from the pta program is when you get your associates degree. So that would be better than getting ur associates degree now and then going back to the program later for another associates degree...

      Thanks for the response! Just to clarify I'm also bringing up a messed up GPA (Took three classes forever ago and totaled a 2.4) . Wouldn't it also put me on the better side of PTA applications since I'll already have an Associates going into it? Appreciate the time!

    Hi Antonio, I love your videos so much. You are so right about the pta program. I'm trying to get into the program in Las Vegas, and they have a point system here. I am having an interview coming up in July, but I'm so scare about the panel interview. Do you have any ideas of what they might asking? Also they are going to quiz us and give us a group project before the interview. Do you know why they do this?

    Does it make a difference if you attend PTA school at a private school vs a technical school in terms of what job you can get? Do employers take school into account? Technical schools are cheaper so looking at that as an option. Thanks!

    • @AntonioSanson
      @AntonioSanson  5 років тому

      I think who you are and how you do in your clinicals might be more important than the school you attend.
      At least for me my employer cares more about how I did working with patients than where I went to school...

      It depends on how competitive the program you are looking to go into is. I'd talk to the college you are interested in attending the program and see what their average GPA is to be able to get into the program.
