That was one hail of a breathtaking welcome! I walk up to 16 miles every day (now only half that much since it’s been 105/106°F every day for the last 8 weeks), but being such a flatlander, I get nosebleeds just going over speed bumps & I ain’t going anywhere that drops within 20° of freezing. So, without your video, I would have never experienced such scenery. Thank you, glad you persevered!
lol. Wow 16 miles a day (even half that in this heat) is pretty dang impressive! Thank you for tuning in and LOVED your opening line in the comment 🤣❤️
Oh my goodness Christy this video is one of your best ever! You just amaze me and I am so proud of you and just how far you have come since starting your channel. May God continue to bless you and keep you safe! from a fellow Texan!
Awww your message got me! 🥹. Thank you so much for following along on this journey ❤️. This was truly one of the most beautiful places & adventures to date.
Hello from the quiet and peaceful Ozarks Christi! Another video of value! Hope things are going well for you and hope your enjoying the weather. Enjoyed spending a few minutes with you and looking forward to your exciting adventures ahead. Grace be with you. Tight lines and bent poles!
Glad the Ozarks are quiet and peaceful at the moment:-). Yes, the cooler weather was a wonderful reprieve and the scenery wasn’t half bad either lol. Have a great week :-)
You are a pro and probably would’ve been just fine in half the time lol. It was definitely one of my most beautiful hikes to date. Hoping not to repeat the hail & lightning parts the next time 😉
@TinyTexanAdventures I can't say I'm a pro lol. The altitude would probably kick my butt too! I'm looking forward to getting out of the heat myself. In a week, I will be in Marfa TX.. It It's usually much colder than the rest of the state.
It's fantastic that you are out there, and you have such a wonderful attitude and perspective on the beauty there. Some lessons here for yourself and others watching--get better raingear. The San Juan mountains are different than a "walk in the park." Always be thinking when it is clouding up like that to find cover of some kind. Lighting kills a lot of folks. I have a lifetime of mountaineering time--climbed all those 14ers in that area and have faced the same crazy weather (we all bleed red)--good to minimize your lighting exposure when she shows up. The Colorado Mountain Club, or something similar in Texas maybe, would be a good place to go and learn how to do this more safely, and would give motivation with others to get in better shape. That said, keep it up!
Thanks for watching and adding your excellent points here for others to see as well. That hike was my all time favorite so far, but definitely highlighted the need for better preparation than I normally need for the “walk in the park” types :)
Great hike !! Yikes ! Lightning ⚡️ doesn’t play ! Glad you were okay! Great views! I would have trouble with the altitude. Being a Fl flatlander ! Thanks for sharing! 👍😁
First of all ... What a fighter you are!! So impressed! That was one of those things you can be so proud of!! That is epic!! Only wished I could of done that, how many people can say they did that? Cannot wait to get out there and hike. This is one of your best Vids yet!! 3,000 feet up ... thats some lung burnin and huffing & puffing. Apryl & I did 2k climb last year in Black hills .... That was super hard and we round tripped about 4 miles ... WOW! Thanks for sharing!!
Thank you! It really was one of the most beautiful hikes I had ever been on. I definitely walked away knowing myself a bit better and making notes of a few things I could’ve done differently. Overall, an incredible experience that I will NEVER forget :-). Hope y’all are getting to get out some. I know some of MN has had some VERY hot days recently.
Good for you. I can do a strenuous, hike but not at that elevation. If it were 0 to 3000 I would be good to go😀 The scenery is stunning, but I would have passed out by then from Oxygen Deprivation. I had a very bad time a couple years ago while staying at Criple Creek. I had no idea I was elevation sensitive until that trip. My hat is off to you for doing the trek. I am so glad you shared not just the view, but also how afraid you were. So many You Tubers post only the good stuff. I know there are many places that I will not be able to see as I just am not willing to take certain risks anymore. I am okay with this as there are plenty of things on my list that are nice and safe for me to go to. Thanks for sharing so I can see this wonderful place as this 61-year-old is not doing this hike.
Thanks for tuning in and for the great feedback! I have done long hikes before but not at that elevation and not with that steep change. I tried to acclimate a few days before but I’m not sure it worked lol. May you have safe travels & adventures of your own. ❤️
Oh wow 😮 I admire you in a whole new level now lol 😆 Be proud of yourself you made it! I’m in my forties and I’d have died after the first 10 minutes 😝 thank you for showing us Colorado and it’s Hod given beauty 👍👏❣️
We tried to do this hike today. 3.5 hours in we reached the ridge but it was just too narrow and I chickened out. Did you take the left trail up or the right?
This 50 yr old woman could’ve just stayed home sitting on the couch but would rather see what the world has to offer. I certainly learned what changes to make for next time, but won’t stop exploring. It’s actually good for the weight loss that you suggested I need.
That was one hail of a breathtaking welcome!

I’m just plain jealous!❤
It was absolutely stunning ❤️❤️
That's absolutely amazing! A fun and exciting hiking tour experience.
It was! I will never forget it ❤️. Thanks for tuning in :-)
Hi Christi! New subscriber here I’m going to attempt the hike this weekend thank you for posting ❤
That’s awesome !! Let me know what you thought. It’s on my list to try again with hopefully a better ending lol. It was absolutely beautiful 😍

Congratulations on making it to ice lakes!!! I was in the group you saw in the beginning at the first waterfall. Love your adventurous spirit!! ❤
That’s awesome! I’m glad you commented ♥️ You ladies looked like you were having so much fun :-)
Very admirable of you to push through even though you were tired, great job.
Beautiful trail. The hail and lightning was wild. Glad you made it true.

@hikingwithjackieboy lol. I keep hearing so much about Marfa I hope it is cooler for you. I hope to check it out soon too :-)
@TinyTexanAdventures Marfa is a unique place

You had me on the edge of my seat the whole time. What an adventure!
Thanks for taking us along… glad I wasn’t actually there…😮
Ha! Thanks for coming along in spirit lol. It was an adventure for sure, but soooo gorgeous ❤️
You was having a wonderful time and holy moment from Colorado USA
It was so beautiful 😍
You should get a pair of trekking poles, it helps a lot with ascending and descending.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience, it’s very useful.
Enjoy your adventure!
I’m going there next week and I hope I can finish the trail.
Fun! It is beautiful 😍 Sending wishes for perfect weather and an amazing experience for you :-). Let me know how it goes!
CHRISTY you are rocking it !(lol). Hoping to see you at Pineknot.
Yes! I’ll be there. Can’t wait to see y’all :-)
Great hike !! Yikes ! Lightning ⚡️ doesn’t play ! Glad you were okay! Great views! I would have trouble with the altitude. Being a Fl flatlander ! Thanks for sharing! 👍😁
It definitely made it a true “adventure” lol. It was beautiful but the next I do a hike like that I’d like to put in my order for better weather 😉

You did it! The whole time you were saying I’m not gonna make it, I kept saying keep going you won’t regret it!
Thanks for cheering me on through UA-cam lol. And you are sooo right, zero regrets here!!!
That was awe-inspiring; thanks for sharing this with us!
Thanks for tuning in :-). It was an incredible experience that I’ll always remember ❤️
What a trooper 🎉 You’re a beast!!
I think it was the Big Bend training that helped 😜

Lol thanks for watching along :-). It was such an incredible adventure with such breathtaking scenery ❤️ (But it did kick my hiney! Lol)
God Bless you!
Well back atcha!
You’re a bad ass! I would’ve had a panic attack 🤣
🤣🤣 Nope, you would find the strength from somewhere. Trying to avoid lightning strikes is a pretty strong motivator to keep moving 🤣🤣
We tried to do this hike today. 3.5 hours in we reached the ridge but it was just too narrow and I chickened out. Did you take the left trail up or the right?
I want to do this hike this summer! Do you think my sedan would make it to the trailhead ok or do you need a four wheel drive suv?
My Pathfinder was not 4 wheel drive and there were plenty of sedans in the parking lot when I went :-)
Oh, if you have an iPhone, the compass shows the elevation, also. Just discovered this a few months ago… have to have locations on, which I rarely do.
I did NOT know this!!! So cool, thanks for sharing that!!!!!
Way to go!
Thank you 🙏 It was definitely an adventure ❤️
How long did it take to get to the lake ?
Go mavs!
Heck yeah! Going to the playoff game tomorrow:-)
@@TinyTexanAdventures what an incredible game! Sucks that mavs lost but must have been a great experience
@ctjperez59 it was! I wish the Mavs would’ve shown up for the first quarter, but the crowd was ELECTRIC!
Why don't you use hiking poles? They are a game changer!
They are on my list :-). I’ve never hiked with anyone who uses them, but I’ve definitely heard from others that I NEED to add them!
They need zip lines back from the top.
That is the best idea I’ve ever heard! 🤣
This woman should never have tried this without adequate conditioning and weight loss….
This 50 yr old woman could’ve just stayed home sitting on the couch but would rather see what the world has to offer. I certainly learned what changes to make for next time, but won’t stop exploring. It’s actually good for the weight loss that you suggested I need.
