Poor you. The film was utterly rubbish; but I am willing to admit that, like you, that scene you speak of was the cause of much bitter remembrance many years afterwards.
I recommend a full audit of the security measures and a workplace health and safety review - that hole in the middle of the temple could do with at least a railing and grill. I also noticed that there is no emergency exit signage.
Yeah, they wouldn't have screamed if the walls had closed in along with the seal. You could still hear them when the "walls" would have been an inch apart. They were screaming because they realize they are about to be trapped and will die in the dark.
