I am the proud owner of serial #2! (Steve owns #1) I had one on order back when they first came out, and that's what they sent me. The music store told me that the factory later told them that it was a mistake, it was never supposed to be sent out. Steve told them if I ever want to sell it to contact him first, and he would buy it back!
I have one of these amps as my daily driver. They are super versatile in both tone and feel while being touch sensitive and dynamic. It’s a marvelous amp.
Thank you so much! I have four Pittbull 45 combos, because I had never experienced and just fell in love with the tonal response. I’ve never experienced the musical tonality in anything before. The SigX is wonderful! To all newcomers, Steve Fryette sold to a Chinese company and people like them, but there are Fryette VHT’s and Fryettes. Not disparaging the Chinese VHT’s because I’ve never played one, just FYI.
I am a lucky owner too. It's insane what it can do and the funny thing is that it does all that stuff really good. Steven Fryette is indeed an amp icon. Great sound and playing too. It's good to hear a non heavy review of that beast of an amp.
I've got one of these. I recently put in new PsVane Horizon Kt88s and biased it properly for the first time ever lol.. holy F.. it's got to be the greatest rock/hard rock amp ever built and Ive got a Bogner Ecstasy 101b.
Great sounding amp! Never payed them any mind until recently and they have an awesome sound. A nice punch with the saturation I love but very articulate. Sounds awesome in the lower gain settings as well. Not to mention, the clean channel sounded sooo good too which is just as important as the lead channel on an amp to me.
Steve Fryette is certainly a leader in the world of guitar amplification. For those of you who are new to this, Mr. Fryette sold the VHT name some years back. So his current amplification line uses his surname "Fryette" instead of "VHT." Only the name of the amps has changed, the extremely high quality of them has not changed!!!
It´s a beast of an amp!!! Got such a nice cut. Can´t see the settings, but I can add that it gets even more brutal when you crank the master volum. Also great loop, if you want to add an EQ like it was a UL with wast possibilities of voicing. Takes pedals very nice. Very nice playthru with excellent sound, though I prefer demos without any fx.

This guitar. I got it earlier this week from a local luthier. It's a 1991 Charvel Kelly with an Original Floyd. The neck is sexy as hell everything else needs to be redone. ua-cam.com/video/yo7w6Wd-y5g/v-deo.html I want to keep that 80s and 90s thrash vibe with it. What would you suggest
I want this amp so bad. I heard John Browne demo one and it sounded viciously lush. even on the quad cortex sounds great but I need the real thing. saving up for an MT 100 so excited for that.
Amp sounds killer but your a player with super tasty rhythms. I keep saying it you got the gift for catchy rhythms something missed by so many metal players. 1% tone 99% Bad to the Bone 💪
I had a Sig X for a couple of years. From what I remember, there were two things with that amp that drove me to sell it. First, I always thought that it was kinda lacking in the bass frequencies, there's no resonance knob and in comparison with almost any other head I owned just too little bass. Second, there was a hiss on the clean channel, yes on the clean channel.! Sold it for the same price I got it for (also second hand). @RezaMatix: having played all these great amps, did you notice these things?
This amp needs EHX KT88s (deepest sounding kt88 tube) and the clean channel has no master volume. The only issue is user error. The clean channel noise is not an issue when then master is up past 1 or 2. This is all in the manual btw.
@@Eliphas_Elric Yeah, I know but somehow I used to think that the term "resonance" was not the same as "depth".. 😂. Because I had a couple of amps with a resonance control and these had a lot more bass than the Sig X with the depth knob, haha... But, the guy I sold it to was very satisfied with the amp... So, that was just my opinion. That comment was written by me in a time that I used to dial in a lot of bass in my amp settings. I'm not doing that anymore, I leave that up to the bass player... 😉. But I do remember that there was a slight hiss on the clean channel, actually... the first guy who came over to buy the amp didn't take it because of that... That said, I'm going to take a look if I still have a video of that amp on my channel.
