Y'all do know before it was kool to be a ghostwriter, they'd usually get paid upfront & not get any writing credit, rite? Dylane Stephens Thanks for sharing that info because I wasn't sure what the numbers were. I agree with you about Dre 💯. Hopefully, Dre will feel compelled to make things right one day. 👊🏽
This interview was Golden . These interviews you can tell how he was able to pull off all of the great hits and what not he was way ahead of his time his thought process is unique you can tell from the interview
Man thats respect bro. D.O.C. is a legend off of one solo album and his pen for a-lot of classics for NWA, The Chronic and Doggystyle. He says all the time that he wanted the respect of the East coast M.C.'s so it drove him to be great. Notice how there is hardly a cuss word on his album. It's kind of a nod to his favorite M.C. Rakim.
DOC was one of the best I've ever heard...WOW the toughest man alive off that NWA and the Possie album.....PURE CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! SALUTE TO The D.O.C!!!!!No one can do it better!!!!!
The fact The DOC is still heavily respected over 20 years after putting on 1 album before his accident speaks volumes....You young bucs better do your research... Snoop would not have a career if this man kept his voice.
I think the timeline would have been very different. There’s a good chance that aftermath wouldn’t exist, death row wouldn’t exist in the same form, that also means pac probably wouldn’t have the drama that he had as an artist
jboog1974 I'm not sure if Snoop's career wouldn't have blown up, but I feel the respect you are giving D.O.C. For the folks replying to your post downplaying D.O.C. all I can say is this. Dude wrote alot of Eazy's parts. He's all in the movie, and D.O.C. was the FIRST solo artist on Ruthless. If that doesn't tell you how good he was, then i don't know what will. His pen is also all over the Chonic and Doggystyle albums. Look back at the video's and old N.W.A. interviews. D.O.C. is everywhere. There is a reason a cat that had no voice after his accident is everywhere they are. Snoop always big ups him. and Ice Cube said during N.W.A.'s rock n roll hall of fame induction that the D.O.C. was the 5th member of the group bcoz he penned alot of their music. West Dallas born n bred D.O.C. with Dr Rock and the Fila Fresh Crew.
@Ali Chaudhry D.O.C. to this day said NY hip hop is what he listened to and wanted the respect of bcoz he saw himself as a lyricist. I didn't mean to downplay Snoop, but if you watch, in a lot of interviews Snoop credits Doc as the person who groomed him as an artist.
I notice his voice would slightly return when he would speak in upper register. Damn I wish that accident didn't happen. My man had a promising start with that hell of an album!!
Gregory Griffin did he lose his voice all together. Cause it just seems to me. That voice he got going in this video. Man it would made every song song like it was made in pain... 12 gauge baby
Man, I listen to this brutha' talk and I think to myself... there goes I but for the grace of God. I was in L.A. during the rise of NWA, & The D.O.C., along with all the east and west coast rap legends as a D.J. I traveled the world rockin' houses from Pattaya Beach to Australia and I think of all the vices that I could have taken part of, but I was wise enough to refrain from most of them. I’m from Detroit and everybody I know was sick when we found out D.O.C Lost his voice
Me too Bro
The D.O.C is a savage and should have been way bigger than he is because of his car accident.
According to Dr Dre, he would have regained 90% of his voice if he had stuck with therapy but he was lazy. His own fault.
what a shame tlig. its fucked up seeing how much lost potentinal was lost out there. i just wish big l had more songs out.. he was so advanced..
Very unfortunate
tlig That and he messed up the healing process still trying to perform.
*It really fucked up his self-steam amd ego ,the problem was he wanted to quikly go to the studio after the recovery*
