A little birthday jaunt up Flinders Peak (not mount Flinders) with my friend Luke. Great trail, good views and weird scary stone heads ensue.
Flinders Peak is about an hour from Brisbane, near the town of Peak Crossing. The trail is pretty short and involves a mix of dusty trail and rock scrambling. It was a bit cloudy on the day but the views were excellent - much of the scenic rim was visible and if you squinted reeal hard you could just about make out Brisbane city.
flying to australia in november and will be hiking this path, im staying with parents in colac
Nice. I reckon Flinders is one of the best hikes in the Brisbane area.
Great video! My friend I climbed flinders peak today! It was a challenge but feels so amazing to have accomplished it!
Mah Family thank you :) yes it’s really a fun hike- one of my favourites.
Great vid mate. I went there and just flew my drone from about 300m from the car park lol. great spot. Thanks for sharing mate, cheers :)
Thanks! Good spot for flying too - I've been there a few times and there's usually not many people around.
Did you ever find out if that “east peak” has been climbed ?
Right after I recorded that bit I saw some orange tape or something like that over there so I don't think it's 'unclimbed' but I couldn't find any reference to a trail there. I'd like to go back and see if I can find a route up there though - the top would feel pretty airy for sure!
The Adventurous B3n I haven’t been able to find a reference either. Every time I go to Flinders I also think about climbing this peak, it looks amazing. Do you know if the full circuit passes close enough to detour towards this peak ?
@@trentchandler89 Here's my map of the circuit - I don't think you'd try to get there from the closest part of the trail (eastern side) - there looks like a fire road/trail from the northern (early) part of the circuit that heads south towards the summit cliffs. This might be the best way to get into that area. I've been looking on the 3D view on Google Earth and will put the images etc on my website - I'll link you the page when I've got it all there.

@@trentchandler89 Hey I know it's been a while but the mystery has been solved. I did Flinders the other day with a group and one of the guys has been on that little summit before - it's known as 'the tooth' and you can access it from the summit rocks near the weather station thing (no trail). Apparently it's a very exposed scramble and there's a metal box on the summit with a visitor log inside!
7:30 set off my vertigo big time...
I guess I won't see you up there any time soon then..!
@@TheAdventurousBen probably not. With that said, I'm no longer fit enough for anything like this (overweight and major lower back problems). In my youth, my vertigo wasn't as bad as now and I managed to do Mt Bogong and Mt Warning. I was fit enough back then, but steeling the nerve to do both of them was a personal challenge that I rose too.
