    Desde Chile. Congratulations .

Wonderful review and background information! One of my college friends loved it so much, he borrowed my copy and never returned it, forever denying that he borrowed it. I hope that it’s still giving him pleasure to listen to it.

Dear Chlozy, I was about 13 when the Beatles began their Journey, in San Francisco No Less. I was fortunate enough to experience The San Francisco Groups first hand during the Hippie Period, and actually got to know my favorite two musicans . What You are doing is LOVE-ALLY and I am Most Grateful to hear Your thoughts and the Historical Aspects of the songs. Wonderful, Wonderful! Much Musical Love, keep the Open Heart and Open Soul moving along. Ringo is a Great Man and may We have many more years of Him. Bruce S.

Really enjoyed your review of Sentimental Journey! It's an album I never really got into until recently. The "quirky" orchestra is a great way to describe it. It's amazing how albums age and sounds so much better many years later. I recently re-listened to Venus and Mars and its a great album for Wings, sounding better than ever. Anyway thank you for the review! R

    great video....makes
me want to hear the album again...i also like standards very much and very few people critique a record in such a way...there should be more - and yes, Ringo looks 20 years younger than his actual age. thank you

I really enjoyed your Review with the original musicians and singers. Your review for me gets a 5 Star Rating ! I say this because your Ratings and your explanations on each song is brief, to the point and very reasonable. Much like you, I bought the album pretty well at time of release, and I loved the album, in spite of John saying he was embarrassed. Ringo's voice surprised me for the clarity of the old standards. I didn't see anything to be embarrassed about. Bye Bye Blackbird was my favorite song. I would have been 19 years of age purchasing the record. I was disappointed the Beatles were breaking up, but when I started listening to the early albums like this one and McCartney first album and All Things Must Pass, I forgot about the split and enjoyed the new music. I found that Ringo had extra talents with the aid of George Martin and friends. I do like Stardust for that great opening. That is my second favorite. I do like your listing of your favorites. You are a breath of fresh air with your speaking on such a positive note. These days with talking about Ringo in a negative way, I turn them off. Ringo has done exceeding well and puts everything into an album and his songs. I think his Legacy will be a great as the other Beatles when the final count down of their song discography. Ringo has some of the best Singles material of 3 of the 4 Beatles,,Paul also has done exceptional with Singles releases over the decades. I believe Ringo Starr has made a positive impact on the music Industry. His albums like Ringo Rama, Bad Boy, Y Not, Don't smell the Roses, Time Takes Time, Ringo 2012, Vertigo Man, Ringo with the Beatles album, Beaucoups of Blues, and others, are great and Sentimental Journey, which you have Reviewed so well, is a top album. Thank you so much for sharing. Take care.

I was 12 when this record came out and though I remember seeing the music video for Sentimental Journey on the Ed Sullivan Show it wasn't one that I bought at the time. I had a limited budget and was busy collecting Abbey Road, Beatles Again/AKA Hey Jude (an American compilation album released in February 1970), McCartney, and Let It Be which were all coming out one right after another over about six months. It was hard to keep up. I have listened to it since and it's quite a charming album. It certainly didn't deserve the drubbing it took from the critics at the time.

Thanks Chlozy! I loved this album when it first came out (I was a teenager). I think Ringo's voice is well-suited for this material...it's laid back and has the "I'm doing this for fun and having a good time" vibe. The arrangements are fantastic. Your background facts are great, and it made me realize something I never had before. Quincy Jones has made some "negative" comments about the Beatles as musicians...though I think they are taken out of context. He's obviously used to working with top notch studio musicians etc. and it would have probably driven him crazy to sit around the studio for hours while the Beatles (in their later albums when they could) experiment with sounds etc. etc. That being said, He probably didn't think Ringo's voice suited that song and purposely "buried" it a little in the mix with the background vocals (though it does blend nicely as well). When you were providing the background info., it made me realize that, though this is just my opinion of course. Anyway, I love your channel and comments, info. etc. I LOVED your review of Wonderwall (loved that album too) and will comment on that as well.

A terrible anachronism at the time of its release. Almost everyone let their guitars shred, the most imaginative sounds in modern popular culture were being produced - then Ringo Starr comes on and warbles Sentimental Journey...
I haven't heard the record for a couple of decades and I can admit that, with a little distance, it doesn't sound so bad anymore. The record is pretty well produced, the song selection is halfway acceptable, but compared to the originals, the interpretations, especially vocally, are just ordinary. But it's Ringo Starr, no one expects miracles from him as a solo musician, who, as Chlozy mentioned, made the thing for his mum. He meant that more as an apology, after the critics' scathing reviews.
