hi! i just got into ucsc and i was wondering how did you choose your college affiliation at the school?
hi, congrats!! if you mean *technically*, i believe you select your top three affiliation choices during the housing application process. if you mean *personally*, ucsc provides videos on the different core values/some of the benefits of each college, reddit has some good info, and just looking up images of what each of them look like where important parts of the choosing process for me!

do you have to be in a specific major in order to live at porter college? like can I major in Psychology and live at Porter?
you can be any major and live anywhere (as far as i know)!
is there a lot of transfers at porter? i’m considering porter once i transfer haha
heya!! sorry for responding so late, i need to look at my notifs more. there's two buildings at porter, one of which (i think) is pretty much mostly transfers and other non-freshmen, so i believe so!

Committed yesterdayyyy and I’m wondering if there’s an admit weekend? 🥹😓☹️ also how easy is it to meet people/make friends? I think I’m most worried about being dropped off and not knowing anyone/being alone?
hi! there's a welcome week every fall quarter full of events in which you can mingle and meet new people! i'd say it's easy making friends (especially at the start of the year) because all it takes is a "hi!" "what's your major?" "what college are you from?" "where are you from?" etc. to get a conversation going. introducing yourself to the people on your floor and maybe giving them an easy gift (cookies, origami, etc.) is also a great way to start off the year right. just know everyone else is just as nervous as you are about making friends and eager to get to know people, it just takes the courage to say hello!
