Girl, you have helped me understand UCSC so much. I am from LA (Long Beach area). I am eyeing UCSC after getting accepted for Environmental Science, but I have no way (or time as a transfer student) to go and visit the school. But I feel like I learned so much from your experience as a student. Thank you, thank you beyond the stars.
Congratulations! I'm glad this video could help!
this is exactly what i’m thinking about doing, how is it going for you?
One important thing to know is if you are a night owl, all dining options are closed by 11, and most lounge areas are closed by two, though most staff will let you stay later they just lock the doors from the inside. In general, everything stops at night so just be aware it is a morning campus. There are some places with vending machines but mainly if you're going to be out studying at night, bring your own food, and expect the main libraries to close by midnight.
Next thing, if walking is a big issue but you still want to be on campus, if you can get an electric bike. It's been super helpful for getting around campus and there's a co-op for getting bikes serviced. Probably don't get a regular bike unless you're already experienced because the hills are no joke.
Thank you for sharing your insight :)
I recently got accepted to UCSC, and am figuring out where I want to go. The school has great qualities, but bad ones, too. Thank you for the video!
thanks u so much for being so honest and giving out all the details of the school bc so many videos i’ve watched haven’t been as helpful. i wanted to get the whole story about UCSC since i was thinking of applying and ur video was the most detailed !!!
I recently got into UC Santa Cruz and this video was so helpful to watch!
Congratulations 🎉
This is very informative and helpful to those who are considering this school, thanks for sharing with us
Thanks for watching!
This was incredibly helpful and gave me all the details I needed!
Thanks for watching! I'm glad it helped :)
ahhh im geeking, im applying soon, hope i get in.
Good luck!
hearing you talk about the weather while being from minnesota is wild
I know I know 😅
I just committed and these cons are really scary oof
No housing. Major problem
This video is SUPER helpful, thank you!
I'm so glad!
This is great informational video. Can you talk about campus safety, especially for women?
this video was so helpful!! i just got accepted and im considering ucsc right now :)
Congratulations!
Congrats
super helpful
A little confused -- is the lack of a Target or an Amazon distribution center next to the campus a problem? People go to UCSC to get away from that. I rode my cheap bike everywhere and, yes, it's hilly, but it was good exercise. I shopped with my backpack. I was really poor. But I never saw any of this as a problem. It was just the price I was happy to pay to live and study in a beautiful place -- for a too short part of my life.
I think it just wasn’t the right fit for me. Those were personally a con for me.
Good video, very informative
Glad it was helpful!
THIS VIDEO WAS SUPER HELPFUL!! I got into Santa Cruz for computer science! I don't remember filling out a separate application for cs or rank colleges so idk if i should feel worried or not lol
You rank them in the form for committing to ucsc.
That's amazing CS is very competitive at UCSC
Would you happen to know if small pets are allowed in any of the dorms/housing? I recently got accepted to UCSC and because I live in L.A I would have to dorm, however the only thing holding me back from committing is not being able to bring my two cats, and leaving them behind isn’t an option for me :(
U believe you would need a DRC accommodation for this.
This may be what a drc is, but you might be able to get your cats certified as emotional support animals. I've have family friends who've done this
Is biking popular? Do they have places to store bikes or do you think it's beneficial to have a bike?
Not really since the campus is hilly but you can definitely do it and there are places to store them.
omg….just found your page randomly and found out you’re lowkey a UA-cam star!!!?? I hope It’s not weird that I subscribed, pls lmk!!!
Welcome to the subscriber family ♥️

Could you talk abt how the weed situation is there? Is it an overwhelming amount or easily avoidable? I think thats my biggest worry abt ucsc,,
honestly weed culture depends on who you surround yourself with. it is easily avoidable. a majority of my friends don't. there isn't a pressure to smoke imo.
I would say there’s no pressure to smoke. I didn’t smoke my freshmen year and I never once felt pressured to or felt left out because of it. There’s definitely a stereotype that this is a stoner camps, while there are a lot of people who smoke, it’s certainly not a college culture that excludes if you don’t
@@dianajerez7123 A hundered percent. It’s a very pro weed school where it is normalized to smoke but I’ve never felt pressured to participate.
There is an overwhelming amount (like 9 out of 10 people doing it). Imo even though i dont feel pressured to do it i feel out of place. Wish i could transfer ngl :/
Your videos are gold. So honest. Are you a Scorpio? LOL. Thank you for all of the information, trying to figure out where my kid might go. Your takes on UCSC are great.
Haha thank you! I'm actually a virgo :)
Waw! So beautiful views 😍
Thank you!
What college would you recommend to be affiliated with as a Psychology major?
Honestly I'm not sure. I would select your college more based on location.
There is an airport shuttle that you can book to get to the SJ airport
Hey what target are you going to that’s an hour long?? I live nearby and the bus ride to the nearest target isn’t one hour
the target in capitola
The only thing I found strange in this video was the comment about overcast, Seattle-type weather. Santa Cruz is on the sunny side of Monterey Bay. The fog settles over Monterey on the other side of the bay. There is some fog in Santa Cruz, but it burns off quickly. If it isn't raining (and it hasn't been raining much in California lately), days are sunny even in the winter. Temperatures are moderate during the day -- high 60s to low 70s. That was my experience going to UCSC. As for the housing crisis, it is grossly irresponsible for the university to keep expanding the student population on existing campuses instead of building new ones. It either means filling up the UCSC campus with new buildings, which would destroy its character and the extraordinary beauty of its natural setting or putting students in an impossible position when it comes to finding shelter. But UC leaders don't care what you or I think. As an alumnus, I toss their funding appeals into the garbage.
It definitely feels overcase on main campus just because of the shade/ darkness the trees create especially when it rains :)
@@AissataAmadou I can see how that's something you'd have to get used to if you're from Southern California.
@@hurryandleave9680 it’s not really foresty in SoCal.
Had to chuckle reading the line from one year ago about how "it hasn't been raining much in California lately" knowing the winter that would follow.
I have three options (Santa Cruze, LA and Berkeley)…
What do you think is better 😊
wheres the best place to look for off-campus housing?
Anywhere on the west side where the bus runs.
Hi Aissata, do you know any Indonesian Student at UCSC?
Do you wish you had chosen a different school?
prospective transfer student here! i'm also from socal (san diego) so that weather is making me hesitant haha. i love the sun!
but it's such a unique campus, i can't seem to turn the thought of committing away.
i didn't get in for my preferred major, but got offered for some alternates! how do you like your legal studies courses? (:
thanks for making this video! really loving your channel so far!
Congratulations! I would say Legal Studies has been great its just a much smaller major here.
is it safe for women off-campus?
I would say so yes it’s a very safe campus
are bikes allowed on campus ?
Yes but it's so hilly I wouldn't recommend it.
Ah, but Oakes is awesome.
is this a sign to commit
touring ucsc this weekend :0
Good luck 💕
Hope it lives up to your expectations!

my dream school fr
Good luck!
I got into UCSC, but I went to community college instead. I'm not sure if I made the right choice.
You definitely did!
@@AissataAmadou Thank you so much. I love your videos so much and you are a big inspiration to me. Hope your enjoying UC Berkley.
which uc santa cruz college has the most attractive people?

Glad to hear!
