I use strips of clear plastic wrap to attach to poles and wrap around aerial roots. Not only does it keep in the moisture better to that specific spot and encourage roots to grow into the pole, it's clear and more esthetically pleasing than plant velcro in my opinion. I've never seen tree fern fiber poles, hope it work well for your vanilla orchid!
I wish they would make something Velcro that’s the color of the pole! Because I get the aesthetics but I don’t think I would like plastic either but I love hearing others ideas! Thank you for sharing! 💚
@Kelly Baker I'd suggest you try it! You really can't notice it because it's clear. You can reuse it to a point but not as environmentally friendly in that sense. I had gotten a big roll of plastic wrap from Sam's club multiple years ago so still using it up
You should start winding the vanilla orchid around the pole now before it grows new roots into the pole and then you take off to wind around the pole later. It’s going to reach the top very quickly.
I love your videos! I purposely look them up most every Saturday morning when the house is quiet to get inspiration! And hopefully not add any more to my list but I always see something I don’t have! Still searching for a Thurstonii and the variegated vanilla orchid. My local plant shop had a green one but I passed it up.
Never are you including too much/too little! I’m living vicariously through your plant collection as all of mine have died due to a rescue cat. Love these vids, keep it up! ❤
Super groovy vanilla orchid, so groovy that the sharoniae fainted 😂😂😂 definitely deserves front row in the cabinet 🙌 and the Majestic, now tied w/ Splendid fpr faves!! That electric sprayer looks like it works like a gem, ty!! And good call on the Philo Ghost, wild n freeeeee is the way to be 👏💦🌱💫
Hi Fern, I’ve had vanilla orchids growing outdoors next to a lattice and in a 20-25cm pot, it ran up & down that lattice like a mad thing, bloomed from time to time and was such an easy orchid to grow. I love your variegated plant and hope it does well for you. Thanks for sharing the potting process and I look forward to seeing updates.
I bought the small 2.0 thiccly poles recently because you had talked about them a few times! I have them in 2 plants so far (I got a 10 pack) and I’m happy with them so far! It’s too early yet to have anything rooting into it, but I hope soon!
You know, I never thought of this when doing it myself, until just now watching you! It would probably be so much easier to attach the plant to the pole first… and then plant it. I feel like it would help hold it in place while potting up the pole and roots!
I've thought about it, and will have to try it. It just seems like that would make it hard to get the roots exactly where I want them lol. Can't win I guess 😂
@@wildfernI agree! Can’t win for loosing. But I also think it might depend on the plant. Something like the vanilla orchid would work, I would think, because it’s so long and it thin! It would definitely be harder for something with a bigger root system and more vines like a pothos or something.
Ooh I think I’ve seen the tree fern fiber poles at a nursery before with some Micans climbing them, I was curious what they were made of because the plants were rooted so well on them! I’m excited to see how they work for you!
Hi Fern, I love how your vanilla orchid looks on her tree fern! I bet she is going to grow like MAD!! I have one, also and just put her on a hoop trellis that I covered with spagh moss!!
Oh my gosh!!! So happy that you posted another video. I love vanilla orchids so much. I love to see how you repot so effortlessly. Awesome job. Thank you 😊
Hey Fern, as a planty person living in New Zealand I am soooo happy you get to try these products! I use fibre all the time, it's a game changer for propagation. Good luck 🤞
This is so timely! I recently acquired and quickly unalived 😢 a variegated vanilla orchid and have been trying to reroot it a few different ways (water prop, perlite, & also sphagnum). I was wondering what happened to your little cutie. Thanks for the update 💗.
new fern upload 🎉 I just started the video and I can tell this is going to be a good one (because they all are) thanks for virtually keeping me company through the work day 😊
I just ordered some of the loose tree fern fiber to mix with spagnum moss. Thinking it will help keep the moss moist a little longer. And both will go further being mixed together. I hope! I love your jumper! I think I need to have one!
The fern fibre pole looks far more attractive in the pot, compared to the sphagnum moss poles. Please keep us updated on the plants progress. Were these moss poles expensive?
Honestly they are so easy. I've grown mine in a variety of light conditions and it does well in lower or higher light. I'd do a chunky mix and get it on a pole as soon as possible. It doesn't care about humidity. Good luck! x
How does this pole behave as far as holding water below the soil line? I'm not familiar with this fiber so not sure how it holds water... thinking of how you would never bury a sphag pole in the soil medium since it would be a wet sponge next to your root ball. Does the fiber pole not hold much moisture?
@@wildfern Ok I feel ya. I have one Pothos (I think) living in my crested gecko's enclosure and it's doing pretty good, so I'm debating on whether I want another of those or something else for my first actual like potted plant. 😬 I want to try that method of growing on a pole, but think it'd be cool to see it wrap around, so trying to figure out what I want to start with!
Oh I’ve been curious about those poles. Maybe soak it in the shower next time to get it going. Let us know how it hold water vs moss poles similar in size pls
I remember when that vine broke 🙈 glad to see your vanilla orchid doing so well!
It was traumatic 😂 but now I' glad it did!
Me too, I gasped in horror! Glad she's thriving now.
I love the pole that you used for the vanilla bean plant! I think the dark pole makes the beautiful leaves stand out! ❤
Thanks Queen ❤️🔥
Omg Natasha 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Thank you 💚

Awww at one point you were singing/humming to yourself around 12:43 haha. So cute! ❤😊

Vanilla orchid’s light leaves are poppin’ on the dark pole!
Agreed! Love the contrast.
It’s fun to watch your plants grow❤ they love you so much ! You are so caring toward them 😊
Thank you so much 🥺
Perfect ugh! A new fern video to get me through these chores🥰 and all cozy in my new wildfern merch while doing em :)))
I love the dark brown color :)

I'm so happy right now! I justed ordered online a monstera burle marxx flame babyplant for 179€
I always love seeing your vanilla orchid, I bought one for me as well but just the green variety. Excited to repot and pole mine like yours :)

Is it solid tree fern fibre throughout or just on the outside of wood or plastic?
Thinking of copying your fringe… aka bangs. ❤
Highly recommend! I love them so much :)

Ive been using tree fern poles, they are doing ok,i find not great for staying moist, from New Zealand

I agree, I love how it's darker. The poles are around $20/each.
They look great and happy👍

Any philodendron majestic tips? I just ordered a small one from botanicaz

@@wildfern okay ty :)
Just wondering with plant velcro which side supposed to be touching the plant rough or fluffy side so it’s less damaging to the plant?
Fluffy side to the plant!

That will be great for my albo
How are you holding it from the pole like that without it coming out the pot?
I don't know lol. I always pick up my poles like this and they just stay in 🤷♀️ physics er something
Just curious, is there a certain reason why you prefer to have the plants grow just straight up instead of having it wrap around the pole?
No growing reason, just prefer the way it looks! 😊

Hi! No idea what it could be since I don't know the conditions or what the plant looks like. If it's just one leaf I wouldn't worry though :)
Hi Wildfern, I was recommended this video of yours by UA-cam, maybe because we have the same interests

Maroon!!! ❤️🔥🥀
💚💚
Do your fern leaf poles and products originate from New Zealand?
yes
Your majestic is beautiful
Thank you 💚
Hello Fern. Welcome back. Looking foreword to this.
🌿🌿🌿💚
Why such a small pot ?
Pot size is to match root size, not plant size. The root system is relatively small on this plant, so it gets a small pot.
🥰
why cant we see them toes :c
👀
😂🤔
