I think they have some reverb on the vocals throughout the album, which would make them a bit harder to decipher amd give it a sort of "dreamy" or "fluid/airy" feel to them.
Alcest was my personal headliner on Resurrection fest and they did not disappoint. At the end of the gig, people left and right of me were crying, guys and girls - thats how powerful and spiritual their music is. I and my friends, immediately bought Alcest + Anathema tickets for October in Madrid and Im looking forward to both bands equally.
Erhan Solhan Yeah, I still need to check out some of their work. ADHD is meant to be good but haven't got to it yet, I only own LFatTM and SLS, but I love both of them
Neige should go to Mikael Åkerfeldt and say: "you know dude, I've come to the conclusion that if you have one of the best screams/growls in the biz, it propably would be a good idea to use that on your albums."
TBH: Mikael probably doesn't give a F*** about what Neige thinks.. But yea, his growls are awesome. Still love the new material; even though, Ghost Reveries, Still Life, and Damnation will always be my favorites
Well harsh truth, he is losing his ability to growl... Just search for Deliverance live Wacken 2015 to realize why Mikael stopped growling in recent albums
Hooked. Dead. This is killing me. I'm gonna listen to this beautiful song when I am dying...Alcest is back, love their songs, they are deep as the ocean.
Alcest - Autre Temps Alcest - Les voyages de l'ame Les Discrets - La Traversee Les Discrets - Apres I'ombre Les Discrets - Ariettes Oubliees I Je Devine A Travers Un Murmure... Les Discrets - Song For Mountains
The outro made every hair on my body stand up, it was magical. Glad the music is as amazing as the album artwork. Because I'm like obsessed with the album artwork.
YES. Alcest have inspired my black metal projects for years, and will continue to. Cheers, guys! The worldwide black metal community is smiling right now. \m/
The drums are very well produced. Probably one of the best mixes I've heard. I love the psychedelic feel on the guitar and vocals. Best new music that I have heard since Pall Bearer's "Foundations of Burden".
This beats the shit out of the last album. This one track alone has everything good from the last 2 albums packed up into one more mature and thought out package. none of the chaff, all of the weak. I am very excited.
@@forrestellsworth5660 Yeah I don't get it Akerfledtfan has 18 likes for posting something totally bizarre and you had 2 for saying something sensible. Welcome to UA-cam
whoever runs the "Black Metal Promotion" youtube page loves to use smileys and "xD" in their comments and frankly it's the least Black Metal thing I've seen.
muchos dicen que ellos regresaron, pero en verdad siempre estuvieron ahí, con su magia, con su romanticismo y su poesía.... que más se iba a esperar, es alcest, viejo.... Una banda hermosa c:
Actually did not expect there to be any screams in this. Pleasantly surprised. Now, i love Shelter to death, and i would have no problem if Kodama would have went in a similar direction (even though the album cover kinda revealed that would not be the case), but i'm really happy with this as well. I guess you could say that i'm down for pretty much any direction this band goes, as long as it still has the standard Alcest quality, and this track most certainly does.
It's everything I love about Alcest ,the song just grips you and doesn't let you go - in a good way. Definitely has that emotional vibe again, the dynamics between Neige's beautiful clean vocals and the screams... Absolutely amazing, can't wait to hear the rest of the album.
Neige has to have one of the best harsh vocals in the metal scene, mortifera, Ameseours, Alcest, damn... I am feeling so happy that he decided to do them again for this album and Winterhalter those double kick drums at the end........ droooooooling here....
Holy damn, Alcest is one of thos bands that i can't stop listening no matter what. Awesome band, awesome song and it seems that it's going to be an awesome album. Thank you Neige!! You are my hero man
How can this be considered black metal? I don't even listen to this my friend just linked it to me. It sounds like post metal to me...no need to add 100 adjectives to describe the genre.
@Skyder12 listen to the structure, and you'll get it. Yeah, it sounds too clean in comparison to classic black metal, but it doesn't make it another genre
It's exactly what I hoped the album would sound like: It's not a 180 degree turn and a return to blackgaze, it sounds like Shelter, but played faster and with some old Alcest parts thrown in here and there. It's also more upbeat (because old Alcest was way more upbeat than Shelter was). And damn, is it good. I loved Shelter and I'm glad to see that album's DNA still heavily sitting in the band's sound. So after being cautious about the record I'm not really looking forward to it.
wow .Discovered this band yesterday (never too late i guess) and this is the band i have been waiting for for years .Alcest is fucking divine .Amazing! reminds me of the bands i use to listen to in the eighties , Slow dive , swervedriver , curve etc... with a hint of Slint .i fucking love this .trop forts les petits français .
oh my god the climax of this song. Its fucking perfect, Neige. So rarely am I perfectly pleased with albums following up my favorites. You've set the bar so high, and with this you've easily cleared it. Its reminiscent of your other work but has a great new edge to it. It fits perfectly with the Mononoke theme... I wonder why post-black neo-folk has never tapped into Japanese scales and imagery before. Its a perfect fit. This surely proves that Black Metal is not solely situated in northern hoary Europe, but resides in the lush and foggy forests of the the Pacific, too. Bravo, boys. You've done it again.
Already ordered the complete box, can't wait!!! Thank you very much Prophecy; congratulations for the great quality of your products and service; congratulations to Alcest for their new songs!!! Greetings from México!!!
Also love Thy Light. The only one depressive bm which has really deep soul, as I was searching for years for something at least similar, nothing is like this. Thank you so much, Paolo, Thy Light will forever rest in my heart.
What a truly beautiful song. This is my first exposure to Alcest and I'm definitely digging this a lot, I'm eager to check out the album once it drops.
Alcest for life, thumb up after first seconds. And I don't regret it at all, well, it's awesome track. Guitar work is better than on most of their releases, only my loved "Les Voyages de l'âme" is similar beautiful. Now I will expect much after listening this song. ;-;
These guys have another project called peste Noire that are really good. Their last album wasn't so great but the rest of them have been solid. Alcester and peste Noire sound completely different and with this new album coming it looks like they've made a great blend of the the bands. Really excited for this album
So very satisfying. And so glad Niege and the band went back to the old folk style, this sounds like Souvenirs and Voyages only with a slightly darker tone. I can't wait to get my hands on this one.
This band doesn't makes albums, makes masterpieces.
Absolutely...every new album is great
Ohh
Alcest is the band of my life.

Cristian Vela I feel the same 😁
Today was the first day I heard this band. things are not going to be the same now.
Hector Villeda same
I remember the first time I heard them too. Life became so much brighter and more vibrant...
This is probably the best drum sound that they ever had so far imo.
agree
Excellent drummer.
A little bit too much reverb for my taste, but yeah it sounds spot on.
Yeah|, blast beats, and a lot of dynamic for the ambiental parts
Really fucking good live, too
I have to say, this emerging blackgaze genre is becoming my favorite genre. Who knew shoegazing and black metal would combine so beautifully?
Every time that I return back to this band, I feel like at home. This music hits deeply in your heart, flows in the veins and runs for all your body.
I agree , it sounds so natural !!!!
Mi sposi?
How on earth can one guy make warm etheral clean vocals and then a breathtaking screech, just incredible.
The drums. The FUCKING DRUMS goddamnit.
i was thinking about how difficult his screams are to understand then i remembered its all in french
Even for a French they're difficult to understand haha
even the clean parts are sometime difficult to understand XD but it's sounds so good
Clean and slow french parts are very complex too, it's like haikus with intricated with much figuratives speech
I think they have some reverb on the vocals throughout the album, which would make them a bit harder to decipher amd give it a sort of "dreamy" or "fluid/airy" feel to them.
I honestly cannot get over the part at 3:15, the vocals and everything are just so fucking amazing.
This is pure gold. Neige is a legend.
❤ same
I can't stop the tears ;-;
this hurts and feels so good at the same time ;-;
Shriya Sridhara Maiya ah same feelings here shriya

This guy knows what he wants to say in his songs, he is just following his feelings. I envie that... Love that about Alcest....
Neige's most emotianal scream vocal ever... Can't wait for this album to be released.
30th of September is shaping up to be great. Alcest, Opeth and Winterfylleth
Don't forget about Epica :)
Erhan Solhan oh, nice. Its funny how lots of my favourite bands release on the same day. Last year it was iron maiden, amorphis and riverside

I can express my despair trough listening to Alcest. It's a relief.
Hooked. Dead. This is killing me. I'm gonna listen to this beautiful song when I am dying...Alcest is back, love their songs, they are deep as the ocean.
I thought they would join the dreampop/indie scene after Shelter but I'm glad they decided to return to metal.
Merci, Neige
How in the name of God haven't I heard about this band before? First time I've been floored by music in I don't know how long
dude this is their new shit, which is astonishing, listen to their earlier releases, they're fucking legendary.
+EndLife im absolutely loving this so far. any recommendations on their older stuff?
+jeffrey manier pretty muvh all of it is like breath taking shit, Ecailles De Lune is probably their darkest and heaviest.

Crazy that it's just two people in the studio. If they included their live members, I can only imagine what they'd do.
Indeed.... Same.
It doesn't work like that lol. Sometimes you only have like 1 person that writes all the shit, and record all guitars + bass. It really depends.
JESUS CHRIST I'M SO ANXIOUS FOR THIS ALBUM
I'm very glad listening to this song and it reminds me to their old songs, I feel the metal into this one. Can't wait to listen to their whole songs.

Too beautiful. So glad to hear a bit of sorrow again.
That Ecailles De Lune vibe is back in force.
It said to be considerate and think twice about sharing. I did, and shared it promptly. It's the most considerate thing I can do.
This is the best song ever written. Absolutely stunning
Neige has to have one of the best harsh vocals in the metal scene, mortifera, Ameseours, Alcest, damn... I am feeling so happy that he decided to do them again for this album and Winterhalter those double kick drums at the end........ droooooooling here....
Oooooooh yeeeesssss!!!!! Alcest again!!!! *crying and headbanging*
To have seen this live front row was like being inside of a dream!!! Unforgettable night !!!
Love Alcest from the first moment, and this work has not disappointed...Great, hello from Italy!
Un enorme bravo a Alcest pour cette mise en bouche du nouvel album!!... un pur régal!... rdv a Lyon les gars! ;)
I loved the sound on Shelter, not so dark but I always liked their dark side, and this is amazing. This is the perfect balance.
this is possibly my favourite band. ever.
There are few "that moment" in life that lifts you up above the clouds. Hearing Alcest is back is one of them.

Fantastic song! Love that the screams and energy is back! Now come to Stockholm and play! :)
Fuck yeah they are playing Post-Black Metal/Blackgaze AGAIN holy shit this rules!!
Post-Black usually contains a lot of Shoegaze influence.
Calling Alcest Post-Metal is apt, and Blackgaze is kind of contrived anyway.
Yeah I love Shelter as well, but is good they're back with their old sound. :D
Post-Black Metal/Blackgaze
what the hell are you talking about?
