6:15 is the most graceful use of blast beats I've ever heard. Never thought I'd use that adjective for blast beats, but shows what good songwriting and arranging can achieve.
Even though I don't understand a word of French, the music alone is so powerful and mesmerizing. I'm getting this album in the mail next week and it will be a great day when it arrives. Brilliant songwriting. This is why I love Metal, you don't need to understand the lyrics to completely fall in love with the music. Pure magic.
@@cplkamikaze8594 I never understood how we could have came up with so many different genres and names. I always liked bands for what they are, for songs they made and then move on to the next band I encounter by chance/fate or as you may know it, UA-cam Recomendations.
Your ageless eyes Are penetrating mirrors, Shaping and beautifying the world By their reflection. The edge of the woods, far away Becomes a moving temple, iridescent, Celebrating the birth of spring. And these immense mountains, Wanting to join the heavens, Whirling Above out heads. This reality around us, Is the one you have chosen And your dreams cover our sphere With an ideal painting, Unfolding in the light of your eyes, At the sound of your voice.
They MUST be French, only French bands sound like this =) Listening to this is like eating rich, dark chocolate, it melts on your (taste) buds and leaves a bittersweet sensation... Wonderful!
I needed to listen to this song several times to realize that it's a good piece of music. The melodies and the album cover are beautiful and and dreamy, I love it.
L'un des rares groupe francais de metal réellement innovant, créatif et qui propose de la qualité. Le riff de base avec la batterrie et la voix sont la plus belle partie de la chanson pour moi. Merci beaucoup.

Metalfest 2011 Pilsen, Alcest, the only band there that I felt like that is the exatly the metal music I have a special place for. They played there as one of the first bands that day, it was around noon, sun was high, we lay in the grass at the top of the amfiteatr and they were one of the very few bands there I knew I like from the very start. From that day I remember this wonderful band. There was not a huge crowd, as the louder bands in the evening had, regardless, I told myself that for me, the best band of the whole metalfest was them.
Holy balls. The guitar and drumming at the end of the song ... are insane. Tremolo picking mixed with really fast drumming is wonderful. It's not obnoxious and mixes well, creating an atmospheric sound while still making me think "Hooooly craaap, heck yeeeaaah."
The part at 0:57 is simultaneously the most beautiful and most sad vocal melody I have heard in my life :( Is he singing words or just vocalising without singing any lyrics there?
The riff at 2:20 is literally the most gorgeous thing I've ever heard. I used to be a Francophobe, but then I heard that riff and decided it was time to learn French and apply for citizenship.
I was in doubt whether or not Alcest was making black metal. The doubt has gone now... And btw: I really couldn't care whether something does or doesn't fit in the box of one or another genre! Often what dares to cross borders is most worth listening to.
@leprouskoala It is too good to skip :) All of it actually. Probably my favorite song from Alcest. To me they are like Agalloch - everything that they do (and I do mean everything) is perfect. This is true art.
I wish someone posted lyrics (in French) but following the vocal melody so as to indicate when he is saying what exactly :( I want to follow the lyrics properly :(

Alcest is one of, if not the only band, that has ever made me cry. Praise be to Neige for his mixture of darkness and beauty.
6:15 is the most graceful use of blast beats I've ever heard. Never thought I'd use that adjective for blast beats, but shows what good songwriting and arranging can achieve.
4:22 - I swear this is otherworldly. Pure bliss.
I prefer the bit right before it, the clean electric guitar.
I know, this bands always takes me through other dimensions
I can't believe it!
I can listen this song forever.
Neige is a blessing to the world
you are welcome
This is probably the strongest track on an album of really strong tracks.
This song and Ecailles de Lune pt2 are my favourite Alcest songs.
same here!! haha

Totally agree with you.
"The prettiest black metal song ever made".
Bloody useless its not that black but it sure is beautiful
More like melodic death metal than black metal. But it's surely beautiful.
It's Blackgaze, a combination of shoegaze and black metal
"More like melodic death metal"

Beautifully put into words!
Beautifully put. It puts me in the same sort of space as when I'm listening to Hante or Dark Sanctuary.

Cette chanson est très belle. Les Voyages De L'âme est le meilleur disque par Alcest! Merci pour votre video.
I will cry. This makes me cry.
long ago Alcest was the heater for the Swedish band Opeth here in finland at Tullikamari. I have liked Alcest since. Horns up
3:56 until the end is beyond anything imaginable.
Truest comment in youtube history.
3:54 - 4:25 gives me goosebumps every single time. This is probably the most beautiful Alcest track ever.
4:21-till the end = perfection
The loudness of this song is write forever in the deepest stone of the earth.

this band is a true gem
One of the best song I've been heard.
This song blew my mind out the back of my skull, around the world, and back into my face. I have never instantly loved a band like this before...
Wish I could listen to this the first time again, to replicate that experience that left me a shaking mess of emotions.
you are welcome

Best track on the album! 8 minutes containing every element that makes Alcest great! And Winterhalter's best drumming (ever?)
Tell me the second half of this isn't one of the most beautiful metal compositions ever...
it gets very close to der weg einer freiheit, excellent song!
It is not one of the most. It is the most. :P
Fuckin' right on, man! From 4:22 on = one of my very favourite Alcest moments. It's insanely beautiful.
Try We Lost The Sea - March to Scutari
This is one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard, and the lyrics are so emotional ❤️
I don't usually listen to songs on repeat. This is one of the exceptions.
Absolutely fantastic song !!! And the bridge at 03:54 is pure magic. Bravo !
J'adore cette chanson, quel album magnifique! Je vais toujours aimer Alcest!

Tes yeux sans âge
Sont des miroirs pénétrants
Qui façonnent le monde
Par leurs reflets, l'embellissant
L'Orée des bois au loin
Devient un temple mouvant, irisé
Célébrant la naissance du printemps
Et ces montagnes immenses
Aspirent à rejoindre les cieux
Au cessus de nos têtes
Tournoyants
Cette réalité qui nous entoure
Est celle que tu as choisie
Et tes rêves habillent notre sphère
D'un tableau idéal qui se déploie
A la lueur de nos regards
Au son de ta voix
Which line does the clean vocals (chorus at 0:56) start on? Please? Thank you!!
It's just after "Célébrant la naissance du printemps." The clean vocals are wordless chanting ^^
Thank you :) It's so beautiful. He does that in Kodama as well as it's like pure emotion and feeling unconstrained by language :)
