I already found a point that may cause confusion. I said Hermitage is on the left bank. With the Rhone flowing south to the Mediterranean, Hermitage is on the left bank as you head south. But looking at it an a map, it is on the right side. I should have been clearer and said "east" side of the river. The other main appellations are on the west side.
