Thanks for the post. I have the same pull start for an MTD snowblower. I was concerned about the staple - I was hesitant to remove it. After removing the staple I had the concept of how to replace and pre-wind the new cord. The staple did not want to go back in, so I created a knot, and by heating the cord was able to pull the knot very tight and small.
