Hey guys hope you enjoyed this look at some of the rarest Sega CD games we ever owned! Maybe you learned something! I know I did 😅 What are some rare Sega CD games you have owned?
Not a rare game, but my favourite story about the Sega CD.... On my 11th bday my older brother tried to convince me to get a Sega CD (Mega CD for us). We had always been Sega guys (though I loved my SNES). I decided to go for the Playstation. BEST DECISION EVER!
Nice one!! All was cool on the video!! Loved the intro! Jaja your friend laugh in the intro, cool! Jaja your friends seem really cool to talk for hours about games! Good video to have while doing some computer work! Thanks guys!
@ Sonic to me goes from 1991-2008 Sonic Unleashed was the last great Sonic game it was the last time Sonic was truly Sonic. Unleashed story was perfect
Your dad was phenomenal!! My parents never played games and I had to convince them each time that I needed the newest console. I got the NES, SNES, and the N64 growing up then I bought myself, the Sony PlayStation. I couldn’t afford the other consoles-SegaCD, Turbo FX, Neo Geo, etc. Your childhood was awesome, Tyler!
It was late in it's life cycle, but my mom helped me get the Sega CD, 32X, and a few games for dirt cheap off this guy in the paper. Snatcher (and the Justifier light gun which makes the shooting segments feel way cooler and more fun) was included, and since I wasn't even aware what the game was, and being a kid who never played anything that told such a captivating story, and treated the player so mature, I totally fell in love with that game.
I miss Working Designs. It was such a gut punch when they folded. Their quirky translation style really added a lot of character to their localizations. I still have their final offering, Growlanser II & III on PS2
the more i got older and grew up with nintendo, the more I appreciate sega for alot of fun games they had. If they gave the Dreamcast, Saturn, or Sega CD the same treatment they do for the genesis id buy that collection in a heartbeat
I tapped out at 120 cib sega cd including mint in box with reg card Snatcher and mint in box Popful Mail with RAM card. Also have cib model 1 and model 2 consoles and various sega cd ephemera. I may continue collecting later but Keio is keeping me from being motivated lol.
One add-on that I always wanted but my mom couldn’t afford because of being a single parent. Hell I wouldn’t receive a brand new console again until I bought my Wii on Launch Day in 2006 as an adult. The few other consoles I did manage to own in that time period were all purchased 2nd hand from a coworker selling them off to purchase a PS1.
I couldn't agree more. The shining force collection to me are the absolute best. I've finished shining force 2 7 times already. Definitely one of my old time favorite games on sega.
I am glad that you brought this up. I have a question: So, I have Shining Force and Shining Force II on PS4 with the Genesis Collection. I also have Shining Force CD (which I know are remasters of the Game Gear titles) for the Sega CD. I also have Shining Force III for the Saturn and will eventually get the nice translated bootlegs for episodes 2 and 3. What order would you recommend playing them in? Obviously, Shining Force CD is the one that I am trying to figure out where it would fit. Everything else is self-explanatory. I am thinking of getting into a new SRPG and Shining Force would be a great to get into.
I only had 1 and 2 when I was kid. Shining force 2 definitely from my personal choice takes top spot. Such a good game and you really make some characters strong if you're willing to grind it out. Shining in the darkness also part of the franchise but not as exciting. Enjoy those titles. Joy of my childhood
@@dusty7933 Ok. I'll do some digging to find out when the time comes. Shining in the Darkness is on the Genesis Collection. I also have Shining the Holy Ark and the PAL version of Shining Wisdom (because that version has a translation that is much closer to the Japanese version). I'll have a lot to play when that time comes.
I was lucky, as I got in to the Sega CD when most places had already stopped carrying it, and games and systems were a dime a dozen. There was a place online called the Video Game Liquidators and I was able to get a CDX Sega CD new and I also bought 3 copies of Snatcher new for $35 a piece at the time. I had most notable games at the time, and bought them new below retail due to closeouts. When I sold my second copy of Snatcher years later, the price was around $100 give or take, so that should tell you how long ago it was. And yeah, Snatcher was life changing, and is easily my favorite Sega CD title hands down, I just wish Kojima at some point would do a reboot, remake, something? But I'm not holding my breath.
Best, most wholesome gaming channel and some of the kindest human beings you'll ever wanna meet! Blessed truly to have this channel! Tyler and his family may never know just how much they've helped me cope with some personal things in my own life, but im forever greatful! ❤ This channel isn't simply just entertainment, and gaming. This channel connects emotional dots and finds a way to show and teach life lessons and family values through out each charming episode! Love ya guys! Keep the precious stuff coming!
Back in mid to late 1995, Kay Bee Toys had a few Sega CD games on a clearance sale. One of those games was Snatcher which was $10. I wasn’t a fan of these type of games and I didn’t have the money or interest in game collecting that I would have some 15 years later so I just passed on it. Once word got out about how the game was designed by Hideo Kojima and that it was the only official English language version to be released, the value of the game skyrocketed and I regretted not taking advantage of buying Snatcher when it was dirt cheap. I would eventually buy the game on eBay for nearly $200 sometime in the early 2010’s. I still have that copy of the game but the regret of not buying the game for $10 back then still haunts me.
YES! I thought it was more like $20/$25 though. $10 and I wouldn't of passed on it. But who knows, my memory isnt perfect. I did pick up Final Fight CD, Willy Beamish and Monkey Island from that bargain bin though.
The sega cd is one of those things where i never even heard of it as a kid. I think for me and my friends we were more casual gamers, we all had genesis and just played what games we got for Christmas or birthdays and no one had a sega cd, kinda wonder if i would have loved it back then
Love this video Tyler. I skipped the Sega CD but I really wish I hadn't now ! My favourite game I've played recently from this collection is Sonic CD and I LOVE it.
I really enjoyed playing the Sega CD more than any other console and the games that I bought back in the day that are very expensive to buy now are the following: Keio Flying Squadron Snatcher The space adventure Popful Mail I have the whole Sega CD library but those 4 are the most expensive games I have in that collection
@MyRetroLife I have a modded Mega Drive Mini with all the MD, MS, Sega CD games all on it. The closest I'm gonna get to owning these pricey gems. Im watching your video with a pen writing down what I need to play. Ive never gotten into Sega CD. Love your channel Tyler. ❤
I’ve seen and have all from 1980-Now I have every console and tons of games my more expensive Sega CD games are Keio Flying Squadron Snatcher Popful Mail Fatal Fury Fury Special Earthworm Jim Special Edition ESPN NBA Hangtime Lunar Eternal Blue Shining Force CD Vay Lunar Silver Star Terminator Dungeon Explorer Samurai Showdown Demolition Man and Final Fight CD thank you Tyler for taking us down memory lane happy holidays
I used to love playing Popful Mail on my Sega CD. I ended up losing the case and the manual but still had the disc which i sold on EBay a few years ago for 200 dollars
I love that I got the mega everdrive pro for my model 1 genesis about 2 years ago and it plays sega cd without the need for the addon due to the FPGA chip on the cartridge and that’s how it got to experienced the library on the actual hardware without having to sort to emulation on my pc and It gave me a chance to play sonic cd and snatcher and other cool games with it since I’ve never owned a sega cd growing up and I would definitely never spend a fortune on an actual physical games especially since they’re expensive nowadays while I can get the roms and isos for free online.
I got the Sega CD when it first came out. Mine came with a disc with music on it but I don't think it was the one show here. It wasn't music videos, it was songs with graphics that played along with it. The only thing I remember about it is that it had Jimi Hendrix songs and that song "What's on Your Mind" by Information Society. It also came with a disc with a bunch of Sega Classic games on it (that was awesome) and another one with a Sherlock Holmes FMV game. I remember playing Sherlock Holmes with my Mom. She wasn't into video games at all but she played that one with me til we finished it. My Dad played Columns on the Sega CD a lot. He wasn't really into video games either. The only other game he really liked was the original (not super) Mario Bros.
I actually don't like Shining Force Cd as much as the other Shining Force games on the Sega consoles, because of the lack of town and other exploration. My favorite Shining Force game is Shining Force 1 then Shining Force II on the Genesis, and next Shining Force 3 on the Sega Saturn, I've played through the Saturn game twice so far. I bought Snatcher for the Sega Cd years ago (in the 1990's) on Ebay for a really cheap price, and played some of it but still haven't played the whole game yet, but from what I played so far it's a really good game and I definitely had to take notes during the game to remember codes and various other things needed in the game.
Speaking of Working Designs, I am SO damn fortunate to own a copy of every North American Saturn release of theirs (even Sega Ages). I don’t have a Sega CD but I can 100% vouch for every single one of their games. If it was from Working Designs, it would be awesome.
Yeah I was discussing locally. It's kinda like how locally I'll see more Little Sampsons on NES than Sword Master and it's a fraction of the value. You can find them online for sure.
Great conversation this is what i was hoping the format would become more free flowing long format conversation instead of tightly seemingly semi scripted snippets around individual games so good work on this one. I feel like these games are holding their value as the cd didn't sell huge numbers and the titles are either niche or late gen games most of them don't have modern re-releases excluding the upcoming lunar re release they are not all that accessible. Even for those who emulate when you attempt to emulate the CD you require a BIOS file and that instantly screams to hard for many. Personally i have not had a Sega cd since roughly 2002 when my mum gave my tower of power away because "it was old so why would i need it" I would 100% be a cd collector and a 32x collector if i still had it but the cost of the cd and 32x is just far to much for me to get back into it and the games i truly loved were all mostly available on carts so buying a new mega drive was quite cheap like $50 but getting a working cd unit seems to run a few hundred dollars.
I have night trap for the Nintendo Switch I know that was an infamous one on the Sega CD, my brother had a Sega CD way back in the day. I barely remember playing it
I once had all of the LUNAR / Working Designs games from when I got them in the 90s, then I got on opiates in the late 00s and sold them for practically nothing ( I didn't have a smartphone and had no idea how much they were selling for on eBay at the time. I regret this mistake all the time...
Some fantastic games all in. Absolutely love the Mega CD. So many unique games not available elsewhere and some like Lunar that started out there. Still quite a few unreleased games, some of which have been found recently and dumped for all to play. Shining Force CD is a brilliant title. Loved the two original games on the Game Gear that its a remake of and CD itself is fantastic! A shame some games have silly pruces like Snatcher and Keio Flying Squadron. (Both outstanding games) Outside of the ones mentioned i really like stuff like Bari-Arm, Shadowrun, Anett Futatabi (yeah its crud but i like it) and semi-uncommon Puggsy
I had a sega cd growing up. Back tgen you could rent games. I owned lunar silver star, sewer shark and star wars. Some of the games like flying squadron i rented.
It would be nice if you did get some of the most sentimental items back from Seth at some point. But if that is not something you wish to do, that is completely understandable.
Love the Sega CD. Although I remember when you could still get a copy of Snatcher for about $100 bucks… I thought, ha! I’ll never pay that much for a used game….. well needless to say I’ve definitely regretted that decision and have since purchased multiple games for that price since then😂 The most expensive game I’ve purchased straight up without any trade towards it was an eBay purchase of Radiant Silvergun which I paid around $200 for and now it’s been selling cheaper 🥴
The colors of modern rock wasn't the pack in game, it was a mailaway offer and wasn't for regular resale. I needed it to complete my digital pictures collection of sega cd games. Also, the terminator for sega cd was pretty banging as the sega cd version was never reproduced, it was it's own game, not just a soundtrack genesis swap.
@@MyRetroLife That's what I figured as most people confuse the two. Loved this format for the video and I love the sega cd. Prize fighter was the only game I ever got my dad to play and he played with me on my 16th birthday, the day before he passed away. It will always have a special place in my heart as it was a special bond seeing him try a videogame for the first time. Thanks again for this video and all your videos.
Watching your videos takes me back to being a child, and laying on my living room floor playing my SNES with my Dad Thank you for the nostalgia trip Tyler 🥲 🤜🤛
Not sire if I really like this format. Am I the only one? Doesn't feel as nostalgic that this channel is known for. This format isn't bad I just don't get the vibes I usually do from your videos. I get it thought, trying to expand the channel, cant fault younfor that.
Hey Tyler i got one question did you ever had a Panasonic 3do as a kid did you dad ever get one i know your dad got you the last atari console the atari jaguar.
Fair warning switch egg console popfulmail IS NOT THE SAME GAME SHOWN here I saw that and said man that looks good curious if switch ported it…. I was excited bought, loaded up…. Not the same at all lol
@dr.gamebender so yputube has this weird feature when u press the screen sometimes talking about playback mode or something. It darkens it. Idk how to undeo that without closing the whole app. It's like a glitch within the last month or new update I'm just unsure of how to use
Ok so here goes..stupid comment i can do this i can do this...*clears throat* ..Sega cd? More like...Sega Swapmeet! These games are turrible. No ones ever played these. I saw snatcher for 75 cents yesterday and I refused to over pay. I hope this comment doesn't get called out on Tylers social media...no ones ever even heard of sonic cd..how long did it take to come up with THAT title. Surprised sonic 3 wasnt just "sonic plastic cartridge" ..additional mean face here, grumble grumble grrr grrr :) Thank you :) *bows*

A brand new video from Tyler, and it’s 30 mins!? I didn’t know today was Christmas! 🎉
That first track during the streaming commercial sounds like a very slightly different kraftwerk song
Sonic CD is still one of my favorite Sonic games even though I didn’t play it till the mid 2000s it has a distinct Sega character and charm!
its got great music as well - at least the European release has
I like the Japanese and American soundtrack’s equally personally
to me it was the last good sonic game aside from maybe generations

My Snatcher Sega CD has died from disc rot. When I realized that, I stopped collecting.

Love the Sega CD. Although I remember when you could still get a copy of Snatcher for about $100 bucks… I thought, ha! I’ll never pay that much for a used game….. well needless to say I’ve definitely regretted that decision and have since purchased multiple games for that price since then😂
The most expensive game I’ve purchased straight up without any trade towards it was an eBay purchase of Radiant Silvergun which I paid around $200 for and now it’s been selling cheaper 🥴
Sega needs to come out with an hd model similar to what Atari has just done. Picturing one unit that plays 32x and cd. In full hdmi
CIE is definitely glarer, way more glare than Snatcher.
The Sega CD 💿 is still awesome today. 😀👍🎮
Yeah he confused it with the other Music Video CD game that came bundled with the Model 1 called "Rock Paintings/Hot Hits"
Just an incorrect assumption, as the packaging has no retail markings. Glad to know the facts. Were there others?
Watching your videos takes me back to being a child, and laying on my living room floor playing my SNES with my Dad
Thank you for the nostalgia trip Tyler 🥲
🤜🤛
I appreciate that. Thanks for watching!
FYI, a modded 3DS can play all Sega CD games.
6:22 so intelligent
I guess it's probably easier to give characters elf ears instead of realistic ones, it's like a cliche at this point
Lunar for the win. Can’t wait for new ports.
I need to finish Snatcher. Got really far, but never finished it.
Pretty hard to start off with an encyclopedia
From A to Z
Not sire if I really like this format. Am I the only one? Doesn't feel as nostalgic that this channel is known for. This format isn't bad I just don't get the vibes I usually do from your videos. I get it thought, trying to expand the channel, cant fault younfor that.
Silent hill 2 is the only game that’s made me cry
Sonic CD, and Shining Force 🙌
Sega!
Third World War barley gets Mentioned a Gem for the Sega CD
Did you sell most or all of your collection to the same person?
Cotton is the best cute m’ up! Snatcher on Sega cd! Does it have act 3? I know it was supposed to have 6! But settled on 3
Keio flying squadron does look fun..but over $2,000 for a cib copy is absolutely rediculous. Like, that's insane.
Not even close to worth it.
Damn Keio is $2500 on ebay.
What about super smash bros for the n64 I loved that game
How much is keo worth?
Hey Tyler i got one question did you ever had a Panasonic 3do as a kid did you dad ever get one i know your dad got you the last atari console the atari jaguar.
Yes we got it finally around 2000. Need to do a video about our long history with the console... it starts in 1993 / 1994

@@TheRetroMartin yup, I looked and posted the same! Wish they would do more of those.
Man that ad segue was a real reach 😂
Fair warning switch egg console popfulmail IS NOT THE SAME GAME SHOWN here I saw that and said man that looks good curious if switch ported it…. I was excited bought, loaded up…. Not the same at all lol
Nothing of it is rare, you can find and download it completely free.
*Starts driving game values simply by talking about them*
😂
$$$$$
Why is the screen so dark?
Remove your sunglasses...
@dr.gamebender so yputube has this weird feature when u press the screen sometimes talking about playback mode or something. It darkens it. Idk how to undeo that without closing the whole app. It's like a glitch within the last month or new update I'm just unsure of how to use

Yeah…. this video has not really convinced me of “the power” of the Sega CD. Not saying the library was all bad but…. it’s a little anemic.
Surprised sonic 3 wasnt just "sonic plastic cartridge" ..additional mean face here, grumble grumble grrr grrr :)
Thank you :) *bows*
lucky you
