God I loved the Dr. Demento Show. I learned so much about music as a kid beyond the top 40: The Residents, Devo, B52s, Wildman Fischer, Spike Jones, Frank Zappa, BeefHeart, and the wonderful songs of Shel Silverstein all became faves - and still are! The best radio I’ve ever known.
BARRY HANSEN , USED to buy used 78 records and wash them in his kitchen sink in dish soap water , with a brush , while sipping on long neck BUDS in his mouth skillfully holding them in his teeth tilting the bottle with a turn of his head while scrubbing the 78 records with two hands...... and verbally discussing rare recordings ................ Yes I knew Barry and also Judy Civic aka Jungle Judy
