I didn't know about Orbital Market; but I see that the Marketplace list is there, but I still don't think FAB products are listed there.
Great video. Thanks for noticing.I don't know it keep open fab but of course nothing bad comes from more models and such.Yet their making some quixel free is good.
Im confused, you used to be able to just use quixel bridge and bring something into your project. But now you have to download it? I'm trying to download a material and when I try to import it, it give me errors. And there is no tutorials on how to import them from fab to unreal engine
Bridge should still work, but only for assets claimed there before today (at least I think that is the case). FAB will get its own integration similar to the Bridge plugin, but for all assets, not just Megascans. I wish they would make it so we could browse within asset packs and pull out individual assets, but I expect it to just provide an option to add the whole thing to the current project. At least we won't have to go to the launcher for that.
@@Cpt.Tripps My version of bridge is not downloading and won't update. Can't download any assets on there even after claiming them. Had to go to fab to get them ):
But it is currently impossible to import anything into Unreal Engine since they shut down the market place and havent released a plugin or intergration yet???
The most disappointing thing is the missing wishlist, infinite scroll, and that this had nothing to do with the launcher. I'm tired of needing old engine versions installed to download plugins.
If you purchased assets with the lower license and you make more than $100K because of the project you used them in, would you then have to go back and purchase the higher tier for every asset you purchased? Even if you weren't making $100K prior.
No, the terms of service says the tier you have to buy in is decided at time of purchase. If you buy an asset, and then make over $100k afterwards you do not have to pay the professional tier price.
No, you do not have to upgrade license. The licensing terms and conditions clearly state "AT THE TIME OF TRANSACTION". So the contions of 100k in the past 12 months apply only at the time of transaction (purchase). After that, you can keep using it forever.
They still don't have an option to hide items that users already own, forcing people to scroll over and over, to find the stuff we don't have yet. Also, does this mean they won't offer monthly freebies anymore? In fact, WHERE are the monthly free items? Maybe I'm just blind, but I can't find an option to find those.
From what I read many portions of FAB hasn't been set up, unreal assets haven't been migrated yet, same with Quixel bridge. Yesterday I still had to open unreal and Quixel to access my assets. Having the end user agreement pop up every single time to download an asset will be a pain. It was yesterday. Hopefully it's something they'll figure a better way.
Here is my issue: I have not seen anywhere where it says you get to keep the assets for free forever (Quixel). Everything just says, 'Free until the end of the year.'
the adobe promotion literally promotes slop content, meaning that having a filter for it is kinda worthless if people can literally upload a low effort model to get a 6 months subscription
The issue is that once you press claim megascans even tho it is marked claimed we don't know if it will be ours forever because it is not added to our profile library yet
I hate the licence changes. It makes everything seem more confusing. Like if I get a library of things then somehow I manage to get over 100k can I no longer use any of the assets in the library. It talks about the past 12 months so does that mean as long as I didn't make 100k before I bought the asset then I am still good to use it?
Unreal assets will show up in the library, but it's lagging behind. It seems the migration is triggered on first login/visit to the site and for me it showed them after about 10 minutes. Their servers are probably hammered with requests, so it's taking a while to catch up.
Does claiming megascans via the button unlock them after 2025 when they start costing? From their wording it doesn't really seem like it. Seems like we need to download the ones we want to a local drive?
Yes I have worked on converting a db from an old site to a new one and it took days. So to get all the content transferred to the new database will likely take days/weeks.
I noticed that the miriad of stuff I bought on UE Marketplace is empty in FAB. I hope they fix that sooner than later. That's got to be nearly a million dollars in assets.
I claimed a bunch of things in fab it doesn't show up in my epic games launcher vault and for some reason nothing is showing up in my vault any more no how many times i restart the launcher
The tier thing is probably an idea taken from Unity store, although it was in artstation for a while as well so it's not that surprising to see it here. Oh and sketchfab also had it I believe. I think before they bought them too.
I'm full of projects to do and Quixel I'm integrated into the FAB when I go to export some assets to unreal takes it straight to FAB and as there are no plugins to send automatic you have to keep putting the assets all manually, is anyone going through this? Are we going to have to wait?
assuming they can fix the performance problems, and also assuming the integrations actually work(not always true with epic) this could be a nice change... i am willing to give it a shot at least
I read the license section as "If you get a Personal license now and later if you make more than $100k then you must pay the difference to upgrade to a Professional license. The Creative Commons license is just for free stuff but if an asset is being sold then it requires a Standard license (which can be either Personal or Professional). Standard license enable you to use assets in any engine and CC assets let you do whatever as long as you give credit". Is that wrong? The personal and professional thing just seems like a way to provide a discount to people who haven't found success yet.
After claiming the free assets, Do I have to download them or else I could lose the license, Or will I be able to download them anytime I wish after the end of 2025?
it seems follow EGS which doesn't have actual "rating"/"review" system, just "star" or abstract metric, they're probably playing safe to not have ugc (review is user generated content) and the need to moderate it i guess?
They also made it where you need 5 reviews for them to appear at all, the couple times I had negative reviews was when I had to ban someone from the discord for breaking the rules or people who didn’t seek support when they had a issue so I am fine with text reviews going away and having 5 minimum is smart because then assets can’t be destroyed with a single bad review which happened to this product that launched recently on the marketplace.
Can someone help me with this issue I have, I download a GTLF file but then I try to add it in my project and its says "failed to import unknown extension zip" Edit: its a decal that I'm trying to download
I hop they will add searching filters not like that stupid old marketplace where you can't find anything and you have to use other solutions to search for assets
To my understanding, you can claim them forever but currently they can't be downloaded from Quixel Bridge. You have to get them from fab (which is harder to find)
How do you get missing content? I can think of a few publishers aren't showing. Yarrawah who have had lots of humble bundles and a few more off the top of my head
Whatever you claim before 2025, you will keep. If your revenue goes >$100K any assets you buy from thereon out will need the Professional license, but you will still be able to use anything you aquired before that with a Personal license (you don't need a new license for those as your revenue is only relevant at the time of the transaction). Not a lawyer though, so double check before making any legal decisions ;)
Just noticed that the Free For a Month assets are only free in the Personal License, i.e. only free for Indies and Hobbyists, not for anyone who earns big boy money.
how do i access my previous claimed items for unreal engine , its not in my FAB library , i bought some assets from the market place before fab but now its gone :( even my free stuff
Removing text reviews and questions is super dumb! I'm never going to buy a 3/5 because I don't know what the issues are, sometimes it may even be something I know I can fix real quick so I'd get it. I was looking at getting a Synty pack and there was a review from 2019 saying the the char models weren't rigged, which was fine for me. There was a reply saying that they would be updating it soon but then there were several other reviews, up to 2023, saying that they weren't rigged. So they never fixed it and were charging hundreds for them. Even though I could have done it quickly I decided not to purchase any of their products. It was useful info, especially for new devs. I wonder if they made it easier to return stuff, I doubt it. The need to bring back reviews.
It'd be a great chance to make a cross-platform unreal engine integration (like the engine itself), unlike the previous mess the ue marketplace in EGS is.
Not really a fan of a bazillion uncurated assets with questionable I.P. status. The developers are not going to be happy if Fab doesn't put the Q and A section back. Also, what good is 16,999 assets that I cannot use because I want to use AI?

@thornelderfin i was trying to bite my tongue when I wrote that because I was mad and the youtube bot purges most comments I make, but year. You're right. It's been a shit show. I'm still pissed. I found out after I wrote that, epic deleted my wishlist I was making for black Friday. They should have waited until the new year and made it v1 notv0.3
@@pwnonator I had 200 items in my wishlist (Epic for some extremely weird reason put a hard limit on 200 items in wishlists - shooting itself in the foot - if the customer wants to wishlist 250 if your items for future sale why would you stop him from doing so? It doesn't make any sense). So I lost my entire wishlist too (30+ hours of reading reviews and curating the list... I was too stupid to trust Epic, I should have saved the links to my notes locally). I used the wishlist to check on discounts on the things I wanted to buy. Fortunatelly, I already bought the most important things from that list, but still, why would they delete entire wishlist functionality. Imagine Steam would delete wishlists and remove the functionality completely? Or imagine Amazon doing that. Business master strategy!
@@thornelderfin I had no performance problems with website but yes, it annoys me greatly it is now mish-mash of everything.
Need a way to bulk claim all 18000 Quixel assets... is it possible? Edit: Omg Epic thought about this and has a single button to claim all 18000 assets officially. That is awesome.
To Quixel or to Fab?
If to Fab, will they be gone at end of the year?
@@BoltRM As long as you claim it before the end of the year, it's free (the current catalog). After that peeps will have to pay for that and the new stuff.
Basically FAB did become Artstation that have already this type of Licensing.
PS: Fab barley works for me.
The fab store sucks, i hate that now all these assets from sketchfab and different sites are mixed up with the regular unreal marketplace diluting it with a bunch of garbage
And to nobody’s surprise, unreal UI/UX took a hold of it and it’s somehow worse than what the marketplace was
No reviews is a deal breaker. Reading the reviews and questions sections saved me from buying things that wouldn't have worked for me in the end, countless times. I'll only be grabbing free stuff until that changes, and if it never does I'll never spend my money there again.
Thank you for keeping us updated. I have had unreal for many years now but have never created anything significant. But I always grab the freebies each month as you never know when you might want to make something
The library with previous stuff got transfered. Which is great. But there is so much rubbish in the store now. Scanned boots try1, try2 with hoke and so on
All bookmarks/favs are gone now too
Confirm I have all my Epic Games assets in FAB marked as OWNED but My Library section is still not showing owned assets, but if you open assets one by one they do shown as OWNED
The FAB library has been updated with all our old Unreal stuff now, FYI.
Not all things have come over. No Yarrawah Interactive, no leshiy3d and no Daemon3d
"This listing has not been migrated to FAB by the seller. It is only available to use from your Vault in the Epic Games Launcher."
If the seller has not migrated, they are not moving.... Not how I would have implemented the migration and hopefully won't cause problems down the line
NOT if the seller didn't "transfer" to FAB. In such a case they're only found if you open UE.
Just to be sure - once I claim the quixel megascans they will be available for ever right? I don't need to download all of them before the end of the year, correct?
Correct. I'm going to do a seperate video on just the Quixel assets
@@gamefromscratch great, thanks man! :)
@@gamefromscratch Yes, please do! as a quixel user i'm very confused as to how to find and download my assets. It seems janky compared to Megascan app. *shaking head at epic*
Quixel was gutted and its corpse pilfered for this monstrosity. Greed created this. Pure, unadulterated greed.
Sorry but what about this is "greed"?
@@Cpt.TrippsThey killed Bridge, killed Mixer, gutted the support Staff, removed all non-UE integrations and from 2025 on you need to buy every asset individually at 3x the price it was before.
@@nolram You can claim 18,000 of their assets for free. If you do it now you don't have to pay for them if you claimed them before the end of the year. So its not that bad.
@@itzshft Very limited time. Watch what happens after the year ends and they start charging for this shit that was supposed to be free.
They also changed their TOS and licensing for assets. You can just buy these assets and own them anymore. They now come with royalty fees. That's insane.
@@moshersmusic Well, unless they change their TOS, then the free items claimed now will be free to use forever. If the statement about royalties is true, then that is crazy. However, I can't find anything online about any royalties for the quixel assets at least.
I don’t see where to view my Favorites/wishlist items. How frustrating!
The FAB search engine is completely inaccurate; I put "Wine Bottles" and it shows me "Battles" "Beetles" "Wind" "Pine", results that have nothing to do with what I'm looking for; and after more than 100 useless results, the term I'm looking for appears.
I didn't know about Orbital Market; but I see that the Marketplace list is there, but I still don't think FAB products are listed there.
Hi just for clarification, does these free assets can be used commercially? or just for private/personal use only? thank you very much
Great video. Thanks for noticing.I don't know it keep open fab but of course nothing bad comes from more models and such.Yet their making some quixel free is good.
So, what happens to the Sketchfab? Is it going away or just moving to FAB, do we keep the free assets we grabbed from there?
Just tried downloading a plug in, there is no way to download it, and doesn't show in epic library like it states. Hope that's being addressed asap.
I can't even login using my Epic account. This launch is anything but smooth.
Contacted support and they got back to me, managed to login again.
Im confused, you used to be able to just use quixel bridge and bring something into your project. But now you have to download it? I'm trying to download a material and when I try to import it, it give me errors. And there is no tutorials on how to import them from fab to unreal engine
I'm not sure if Bridge stopped working, but the need to download it now is a stop gap solution so expect it to improve.
I agree + missing text reviews (a BIG DEAL). My wishlist is gone, and the endless scroll is a terrible UX.
If you purchased assets with the lower license and you make more than $100K because of the project you used them in, would you then have to go back and purchase the higher tier for every asset you purchased? Even if you weren't making $100K prior.
It says 100k in the past 12 month so if you start making money and its over 100k in the last 12 month you have to switch license
No, the terms of service says the tier you have to buy in is decided at time of purchase. If you buy an asset, and then make over $100k afterwards you do not have to pay the professional tier price.
@@floof_floof Just read it. This is correct.
Can confirm. I did poot.
Hopefully it's something they'll figure a better way.
for the quixel items, do we have to download them to keep them or would we be able to keep them by clicking add to library?
The assets are license agnostic, no matter what your situation you keep your purchased assets. The sale is the only thing subject to the license tier.
I just get a server error after logging in. Had it all morning. I guess it's clogged up with devs atm.
You keep what you have in your FAB library.
What we bought will always bein our hearts -- forever
Do you think or better know if we will receive updates for previously purchased assets?
RIP Sketchfab. RIP small independent struggling sellers.
I predict a "Fab+" subscription service coming within a year lol
Once (one click) claimed, it will remain in the library even if I didn't download?
I claimed a bunch of things in fab it doesn't show up in my epic games launcher vault and for some reason nothing is showing up in my vault any more no how many times i restart the launcher
Megascans claim sign in problem 😢
Do we have to download the megascan assets or it is owned forever once we claim it ?
You own it forever after you claim it
The tier thing is probably an idea taken from Unity store, although it was in artstation for a while as well so it's not that surprising to see it here. Oh and sketchfab also had it I believe. I think before they bought them too.
man I love your channel you're always updating on time you don't forget you even posted about the megascans, huge respect for you Mike
The personal and professional thing just seems like a way to provide a discount to people who haven't found success yet.
do you need to add it to your own library or just claiming it is enough.
So after claiming I must download each of them individually? ... shouldn't they be permanently available even if I don't (just claim)?
You don't need to download, just click claim and they are yours forever
@@The_OG_troller thnx
Yes but will Fab be continuing the UE Marketplace free monthly giveaway?
Does the Substance thing mean the they killed Quixel Mixer?
Epic killed Mixer long ago.
@@nolram I wasn't ready for today.
Can someone help me with this issue I have, I download a GTLF file but then I try to add it in my project and its says "failed to import unknown extension zip"
Edit: its a decal that I'm trying to download
I hop they will add searching filters not like that stupid old marketplace where you can't find anything and you have to use other solutions to search for assets
I am still confused whether I need to download megascan assets or I should just click the claim button to keep them available forever.
To my understanding, you can claim them forever but currently they can't be downloaded from Quixel Bridge. You have to get them from fab (which is harder to find)
You will lose access to Megascans in 2025.
So you need to download them all, which sucks so much.
If It Ain't Broke ...
Don't Fix It.
Epic Broke It. smh.
How do you get missing content? I can think of a few publishers aren't showing. Yarrawah who have had lots of humble bundles and a few more off the top of my head
all our UE marketplace Free for the month stuff is gone or it will be implemented later ?
The one thing I do not understand is whether it is free to use AFTER 2024 . Like if my revenue is below 100k will it still be free to access?
Whatever you claim before 2025, you will keep.
If your revenue goes >$100K any assets you buy from thereon out will need the Professional license, but you will still be able to use anything you aquired before that with a Personal license (you don't need a new license for those as your revenue is only relevant at the time of the transaction). Not a lawyer though, so double check before making any legal decisions ;)
Whenever I try to login to fab, I always get an authentication error
Damnnnnn. You got some assets :P
The My Library tab doesn't work at all
Does this mean sketch fab will go away at some point i wonder
I think just the store part
@@gamefromscratch Is there another part?
All Megascan assets are claimed in FAB. Are they available as owned after 31st Dec 2024? Can you give some light on it?
Yes
Im gonna stick with Orbital Market, FAB just sucks ass right now
Just noticed that the Free For a Month assets are only free in the Personal License, i.e. only free for Indies and Hobbyists, not for anyone who earns big boy money.
Ruined it.
dude am a verified trader there but never received any news or emails about the platform being live...thanks.
Where is the reviews and Q&A part? AND WHERE IS MY WISHLIST??????????
ah shit... megascan is everywhere; can't find it...I want to keep old megascan bridge asset organize
how do i access my previous claimed items for unreal engine , its not in my FAB library , i bought some assets from the market place before fab but now its gone :(
even my free stuff
I’m sure it will get sorted out.
Good news for Linux users who do not have the old marketplace
so my question is if we have claimed the quixel megascans can we always download them for free or that will end ?
It's yours to keep. You just can't claim them after 2024 if you don't do that before.
Just hope banks make it an automatic refund if many people ask it all the time everyday for years
Minecraft assets may have to be free because of Minecraft's EULA*
*They may be allowed to charge for commercial usage of those assets
I guess for text review, we should make forum entries with the product in question and just tell everyone there 🤷♂
It'd be a great chance to make a cross-platform unreal engine integration (like the engine itself), unlike the previous mess the ue marketplace in EGS is.
Cross platform ue integration in what way?
They definitely need to fix the performance of the 3d viewer.
"Explore Free" ... "For personal use" they should really make that part of the title of that page
Not really a fan of a bazillion uncurated assets with questionable I.P. status.
The developers are not going to be happy if Fab doesn't put the Q and A section back.
Also, what good is 16,999 assets that I cannot use because I want to use AI?
No Bridge to Blender and no Blender file formats - WHY?!?!?!?
could we USE FAB assets in blender?
The fab royalty split is 88/12 as per normal and mentioned in the video. However, until the end of the year its 100/0 for the seller
the website is just as slow as the epic game store. kill me
It’s very fast for me
As long as I can just use my epic account for my assets then I’m fine. Trying to re-purchase all my assets would be a nightmare
they deleted the reviews and questions tab :C
