    I have mineral oil, but not sure what kind of pump I should get for my drop saw. I keep hearing that I need to go to a hydroponics store and get a pump, but it will have to be a good enough to pump oil and not sure what the best Hp for it of anything else I should look for in buying a pump for my drop saw

    I been using canola oil for 10 years safest best cutting oil I ever used. The viscosity cSt rating for canola oil is 8.6

    I have successfully used Texaco’s Almag oil, (aluminum and magnesium cutting oil), for 40 years. I filter,( two weeks )and reuse. It’s safe and smells better than anything except mineral oil.

    I purchased one of your older saws and obtained a cutting oil from my local oil supplier that was supposed to be specifically for lapidary use. I was allergic to the stuff and ended up selling my saw. The coolant caused both respiratory and skin issues. I didn't even know a diamond blade needed to be sharpened.

      Hey Gordon. We highly encourage everyone to use a high grade mineral oil as it doesn't cause any respiratory and skin issues. It's also best to maintain the performance of the saw.

    There is cst @40°C and cst @ 100°C which scale are you working with?

    • @HighlandParkLapidary
      @HighlandParkLapidary  2 роки тому

      We're using the standard used scale for measuring the viscosity of fluids.

    Can you add mineral spirits to vet grade oil to lower the viscosity?

    • @HighlandParkLapidary
      @HighlandParkLapidary  3 роки тому

      No unfortunately that won't work

      @@HighlandParkLapidary why would this not work? Chemically it’s the same product just different viscosity as far as I know

      @HighlandParkLapidary  2 роки тому

      You could, but it would be really expensive when you buy large quantities.

    What kind of mineral oil should I use for my bandsaw mostly for mild Steel

    • @HighlandParkLapidary
      @HighlandParkLapidary  3 роки тому

      I suggest you check with your bandsaw supplier on this - for steel work we use a variety of different coolant mixtures depending upon the material cut and type of CNC process.

    I'm confused about the type of mineral oil to use, and where to buy it. Did you say 7 CST? I can't find any oil offered for sale that even lists its viscosity. What am I missing, what exactly am I looking for, and where can I find it?

      Hi Danny, if you search up "7 CST mineral oil for sale", there are few sellers on the results that you may consider. For your convenience, we also have our own mineral oil coolant up on our website that is perfect for our machines. You can look it up here: www.hplapidary.com/collections/coolant

    Rolltech Innovation manufactures machine coolant saver. Serious threats to productivity and health are bacteria and fungi which are commonly found in industrial coolants. This coolant bacteria filter has some advantageous features include: last a life time, with guarantee of extended life of coolant with bacteria filter - no consumables, no electricity, no chemical dosing, etc.
    It is a one time investment, ROI within 4-6 Months, Saves on input of fresh oil and disposal cost like etp treatment, or giving it to authorised recycler.
    These mineral oil based coolant are prone to generation of bacteria which produces foul odour, often from hydrogen sulfide [rotten egg smell].
    Rolltech Innovation "Aqualogic" filter is an innovative and economical method of continuously controlling these micro organisms and the odour they generate. "Aqualogic" bacteria coolant filter consists of series of high-purity multi-metal fibres cased within a stainless steel tube. the dissimilar ions in the multimetal alloy bed undergo a natural electrochemical reaction, also known as an oxidation-reduction reaction. Which Kills the all the Microbial activity in the coolant 24/7
