Finally, after many years of dissapointments in Yes' history (not musically but internal disagreements), this gave a brand new fresh start with the 70's favourite members, you can hear that they returned to their roots and sound great!
Yes. i had given them up during 90125 , not merely due to the trendy hi production & poppery but being only 20 i was realising how ‘1970s music’ or prog was scaring girls away…. on being laid-up in 2010 my children dumped a computer on my lap & for the first time truly felt in the future because i had in front of me a list of albums since 1983 for a band i figured had long stopped breathing or composing & the retro future effect of seeing what they’d done since I’d last looked in 1984 was a very strange feeling - looking back at what I didn’t know was to follow. ! i love much of everything from Union to Fly From Here & this is as with lots from 1990 as wonderful as their 1969 to 1980 output. This is outstanding in my opinion. 😁👍🐢
Until recently I missed the song Machine Messiah, and the Drama album altogether lol. Machine Messiah is heavy, such a great jam. Even my friends who don't really like Yes who are metal heads liked that song.
The first three and a half minutes are extraordinarily beautiful. How I wish this could have been developed into a better song. I cannot listen to it beyoond that. I am glad for people who like it. But to compare this with The YES Album , Fragile, Close to the Edge, Relayer, or the Going For the One albums is just crazy.
i can't figure out why yes didn't make a video of this song,or play it live,it would have been true the message they were sending,[on how fucked-up this world is really is],true and timeless.
1996/7 we use to listen to 'keys to ascension' On my home stereo with the Bose 902 (mounted, or suspended speakers by hanging the pair with chain / from the ceiling!!) Cranked loud! My neighbors never complained, the apartment/house was made of brick and real sheet rock! La madeleine islands - italy
From time and a word to true, it's all good and will be listened to by millions for millions of years even in some distant galaxy this will not go unnoticed. Long live prog the best music to clear a troubled soul.
Such a great album (as is KTA2). Another great Alan White track here. And Anderson's voice never sounded more clear; I mean, could a voice be any more perfect. Just so wonderful when they all come together, it is so amazing. Been a fan now for 48 years.
I remember buying this CD when it first came out and was so happy to find a studio cut that returned to the classic Yes style, all those layers of harmony and melody wound round intricate musical deviations that made Yes music so unique, the blending of hard rock, jazz and pop, it will be a sad day when this group finally hangs up its instruments a sad day indeed
doesnt get better than Yes, from the sprawling prog of the 70s, the mighty pop of the 80s to the mixtures of epics and lighter pieces since the 90s, this band has it all. Everything you need out of music IMO. Looking forward to seeing Drama and Fragile live next month!
Tune in to any part.of the song and You will be blown away.......give it the ' 3minute ' breather.........towards the end...since the song is more than likely going to take your breath away
esta cancion es maravillosa para escuchar y meditar , el misticismo y ese sentimiento magico lo pone Steve Howe ,el mejor grupo de rock progresivo en el mundo lo disfruto mas en audio y si hay lluvia es un sueño!!
This is my favorite obscure YES song. I would love to hear it live. Sometime I think the song had a perfect ending and emotional release if it had faded out at 15:30 after Jon's vocals, not that I'm really complaining.
Had they put all this 96-97 tracks into a single album with its subsequent proper world tour, it would have probably been YES finest moment and, to me, their best album.
I've added a comment before It IS the best Yes Intro of all time It's reminiscent of the intro to "And You and I" But we musn't loose sight That track was recorded in 1972 Technology was in it's infancy then This is probably 6 different songs put together (or different ideas) To form one Production is brilliant
I used to sift thru this in '96, when it came out as part of the Keys to Ascension album labeled as 'Unreleased 1996 tracks', until I was able to memorize every single note out of the 19-minute piece!!!
I mean What band could start a track with harmonised Spanish Acoustic Guitars in slow emotive chords Progress into pysecedelia type music which is played backwards (A method used by The Beatles aka Tomorrow Never Knows) Meanwhile great voice singing vocals about women who are drug addicts Tempo change to gentle Bass complex harmonised voices (That talk is just a worry in a man) Then lead vocals above harmony Rock section Back into gentle movement culminating in vocals "How did Heaven Begin" etc Ending on further upbeat Only "YES" could do that If any music student wishes to learn Progressive Rock First play this Then go back in time and play Close To The Edge Job (nearly) Done!!!!
What a great tune. Should a been played on radio, but way too long for radio. Shame. Also, this should of been marketed as an album. In '96. Best stuff between these guys fuckin aye lol.
if there is anything I choose to take from this plane, it is all the music of Yes to listen to, listen to and listen to all eternity.♥
❤❤❤
2020, i have 34 years old and im listening to yes scince i was born... the best legacy my father could ever gave to me
Well said!!!
I am 65yrs old & I have grown up listening to YES & have seen them many times 💫💖. They take me back to a wonderful time in my life I miss very much.
I wish they played this one over Mind Drive in concerts back in the day
Finally, after many years of dissapointments in Yes' history (not musically but internal disagreements), this gave a brand new fresh start with the 70's favourite members, you can hear that they returned to their roots and sound great!

Jesus, what a freaking jam. How did I miss this awesome song until now? A masterpiece

Simply the best 👌...
This may be the best instrumental intro Yes has ever done. And they've done a lot of great instrumental intros.
second for me.... after Turn of a century
Its alright but it could be anyone. In the 70s you couldn't mistake anything they did for anything except yes
All Steve

RIP Chris Squire...
indeed :(
Nobody did it better than Chris Squire. Rest in Heavenly Bliss.
He's resting in our hearts 🥰
The last instrumental parts just kickass Steve completely takes off into another universe
Perhaps Yes' most underrated classic.
Saludos desde Argentina. Que música tan maravillosa!
Steve Howe 😊
love this genius.that that is yes.all members past and present.yes lives in my soul
one of my favorite Chris lines ever. I'm gonna have to pull out the ric and dust this one off. Been many years since I've played this. Too many.
This is my favourite track from the studio disc of Keys to Ascension., Brilliant!!!!!
+aristotle358 Mind drive is also a brilliant song : ) .

Love Keys To Ascension studio tracks. Best Yes since Relayer.
Really??? Better than the Going For the One album??? Awaken!
phenomenal writing. PHENOMENAL
Me emociona escucharla ,me recuerda q somos piel y alma

00:00 Togetherness [4:23]
04:23 Crossfire [2:44]
07:07 The Giving Things [1:34]
08:41 That Is [2:35]
11:16 All In All [4:41]
15:57 Agree To Agree [3:19]
That guitar!
I think you meant "those" guitars. Brilliant!
Tune in to any part.of the song and You will be blown away.......give it the ' 3minute ' breather.........towards the end...since the song is more than likely going to take your breath away
Amazing 6 song set here under 1 name

13:28 pure Yes
nobody does it better than steve howe, nobody!!
Simply Wonderful ! ! ! New tracks to me !
ONE OF MY FAV TRACKS FROM THIS ALBUM A YES CLASSIC
Had they put all this 96-97 tracks into a single album with its subsequent proper world tour, it would have probably been YES finest moment and, to me, their best album.
Great musical journey
Fragments of clips.....awesomely, thrown together........seriously amazing .
I've added a comment before
It IS the best Yes Intro of all time
It's reminiscent of the intro to
"And You and I"
But we musn't loose sight
That track was recorded in 1972
Technology was in it's infancy then
This is probably 6 different songs put together (or different ideas)
To form one
Production is brilliant

72
My iPod won't let me respond so had to make a separate comment!!! Well, I always say yes to Yes! Thx matey!
My favorite is RoundAbout👍
NO NO NO -YES YES YES !!!! take it bieber !
Excellent epic track with tremendous fast part right after acoustic intro, and the slower funkey part
All in All...............................
Masters❤❤❤
Quite the musical romp , That , that is ...
ilovetheirartworkgod.
Esa guitarra en la intro.. ¡Con aires españoles! 👍
The calling of Light
As You Measure in Time
This time is meant to be .................
could never figure out why yes didn't play this song live, when chris squire was still with us.just a wonder.
They did do Mind Drive live but I agree.
Last flare up is intense
Random Yes West references in the song:
5:27 "Real Love"
7:55 "Cinema" vocals
9:04 _Talk_
11:47 "The Calling"
Pretty gorgeous, that is...lol. Nice upload as usual!
Les Maitres !!!
lyrics are quite hard hit
From15:30 has commenced real cunami.
Forever escalating......................
Anderson was another when he sang solo, Yes put him in his true position, as the leader, without him Yes sounds good with him it sounds excellent
Sorry I missspelt "Lose"
This would be extremely difficult to perform "Live"
Sadly without Chris Squire
We never know
I mean
What band could start a track with harmonised Spanish Acoustic Guitars in slow emotive chords
Progress into pysecedelia type music which is played backwards
(A method used by The Beatles aka Tomorrow Never Knows)
Meanwhile great voice singing vocals about women who are drug
addicts
Tempo change to gentle Bass complex harmonised voices
(That talk is just a worry in a man)
Then lead vocals above harmony
Rock section
Back into gentle movement culminating in vocals
"How did Heaven Begin" etc
Ending on further upbeat
Only "YES" could do that
If any music student wishes to learn Progressive Rock
First play this
Then go back in time and play
Close To The Edge
Job (nearly) Done!!!!
I’ve tried, but I just can’t get into the studio stuff on the Keys to the Ascension albums. I can never seem to listen all the way through.
Great YES since Talk
What album can i find this song on? I purchased the Keys to Ascension double cd album bit this song isn't on there! 😢
Reference place to where You are..............
1 person per year don't know what is a good music
What a great tune. Should a been played on radio, but way too long for radio. Shame. Also, this should of been marketed as an album. In '96. Best stuff between these guys fuckin aye lol.
At the time, there actually was an edit consisting of the That Is & All in All sections that got some play.
Pi por
hey all you rap hip hop kids: check out YES.
