Painted Vintage Desk Epoxy Pour Makeover

  • I found this desk for $20 and decided to try my first epoxy pour on painted furniture. This was my first time trying to pour countertop epoxy on a painted furniture project, or any project for that matter. I am still learning how to pour epoxy countertops and even though things didnt turn out as planned, my epoxy pour results were pretty amazing.

    They used to sell this type of furniture at Naked Furniture (I think that was the name) over 50 years ago. We stained it and it now sits in my daughter’s garage in Wisconsin.

    I could feel your panic when it looked like you were running out of epoxy and time! That's a way cool result though. Also you're the only one I've ever seen spraying furniture with an airless sprayer and I've been thinking of doing that too. I see other videos of people using the Wagner sprayers and it looks like it would take "forever" to do it that way. Even with cleaning up the airless sprayer it's still probably faster. Certainly easier. And I don't even want to think about brushing it.

    • @ThatShabbyGuy
      @ThatShabbyGuy  8 місяців тому

      I've used the Wagner sprayers before too. I have a few videos of me using them. It takes about 5-8 minutes to apply a coat of paint with them, depending on the size of your project. The Graco airless sprayers take 1-3 minutes. The downside is the Gracos use more paint and have more overspray so you kind of need a bigger area to contain it.

    Personally, I believe you have too much white pigment. I would just add the blue n metallic directly and use a hair dryer or heat gun to move around. If using a heat gun, be careful not to burn the epoxy by not getting too close and moving around quickly. Sure beats heavy lifting. Project being level is a must. In the end, the desk turned out beautiful ❤. Side note: The heat gun will also pop bubbles and using both the heat gun and torch is a winner.
