This server crash dupe is absolutely insane. They must’ve made a hundreds of thousands or even a mill no doubt… a blue phat goes for 15K atm.
That's only a recent thing due to the price manipulation of rares. Depending when the dupes took place, a blue phat was far less than that.

It’s so interesting to learn about dupes from other similar games. A lot of the same ideas can actually be used from game to game
Yeah back in 2001 when I was playing this other MMO called Helbreath you could dupe items in kinda the same way but let me try and break it down a bit.
Trade a player an item you wish to dupe in a zone outside of town as you are casting the recall spell (teleports you to town). When you zone into town the person you gave the item too will have it and you will still have it. It was odd but it freaking worked! Was so fun playing that game after everyone had really good gear XD.
They rolled back the server and fixed the dupe not 2 days later :(
@@EricN73158 That sounds pretty epic to find in 2001, props for that! There was a WoW exploit found very similar to that in 2012 with the same basis just with an instance/dungeon portal.
And unlike OSRS, I believe rollbacks can never happen on rs3 due to the sheer amount of microtransaction mishaps associated with rolling back every player that was on during the duping.
Yeah they typically just timeout or perma the accounts engaged in such behavior
I wonder if that dice glitch happened about a month or 2 ago, because clue items randomly started crashing pretty hard. They were selling for ~500-600k less than ge price.
noticed this too that clue items were dropping :x kinda makes sense now.

Today was great I was standing in the ge with tbow on after my slayer task and a dude tries to lure me and I'll i typed was kempq and they insta logged 😄 🤣

The save state dupe was something I knew of too well knowing who founded it on private servers pre 2k10 and private servers patched it by having save state on all accounts or actions periodically. To see it being abused as of recent years is embarrassing especially on an official game.
The dupe was a bug in the trade screen and only worked on very poorly coded rsps, it had nothing to do with the save state of accounts or crashing the world.

Coded for some RSPS' back in 2008-9, we solved it by saving temporary save states on the same box. Server crash means (at least 99% of the time) that the software crashes, the box itself would be fine. We'd have smaller saves of the different inventories.
As well as dupe id's on non-mass items. For example a whip would have ID 5, if you note it the "itemstack" would have one whip and one dupeID 5 stored.
Even when dupes happened, admins would be on them like flies.

The server crash netted way more than just billions. Just one account with max shards is 55b. Add 1,500 accounts to that alone, not counting anything else such as rares. Some accounts had more than just one stack of max shards.

Bringing the server crash story into this felt like a desperate attempt to get this video to 10 minutes. Love your content but I clicked for the title, not for you to start talking about some completely separate story that I've heard covered by many other RS youtubers in the past. It felt lazy and out of place.
Well today I never thought it would happen to me but starting off being very playful and I got scammed for bank. Didn't even really realize it until too late. Honestly really my fault but It can definitely happen to anyone I guess. Now if only I can remember how to start from scratch again lol

probably more gp than rares, cause if rares started flooding the market they would have crashed causing a panic sell and then even more crash.

What really sucks is that jagex doesnt care about this stuff, I had my main given away by a jmod, they were from another country, I was ONLINE, I had 2fa and 2fa bank pin, but dont worry after I was cleaned out it was "We do not restore items that you have lost"
Good thing its only worth an absolute fortune now. And I will never be able to replace the items. It took me almost 6 months of appealing to even get the account back, I had to show credit card statements, and other stuff I just realised I probably shouldnt share. But still they can just say hey gib this account I want, but I need to fight so hard to get it back.
Jagex doesnt give a f about its players. We only pay for membership on one maybe 2 or 3 accounts. Bots have thousands, people that break the rules massively waste a tonne of membership so get more because its cost effective for them to do so. Only game I know where the victim is punished and the perp gets basically a slap on the wrist.
Oh and to explain what I lost, alot of rares, lets just say when I was a kid I liked picking up stuff on the flood, and party hats were everywhere, people just wanted their fav colour. I liked seeing big numbers. Its enough that if I were to rwt it, and still ofc had them, I could buy a house, hence 2fa.
