The question at 16:52 From Jennifer Kelleher from AP was probably one of the most intelligent questions that I heard from these journalist conference calls with usgs and HVNP. Most either seriously layman questions from journalists that have NO idea about what they are talking/asking about, are just asking a question of a topic that was already answered/talked about in the briefing, or was already asked/answered by a previous journalists. I tip my hat to Ms Kelleher.

I'm not a volcanologist by any means but my analysis for the decreased activity is the pressure from the summit and the lower East rift zone is egualizing. If it continues at this pressure or decrease the lower East rift zone will crust over and harden the summit will start to fill up again.
I've been watching every since it first started erupting and I find it quite fascinating to be able to follow it these last couple of months almost live. Never been to Hawaii but it's on my bucket list.

If you look closely, at 18:30-19:30, the editor puts Mars in the exactly the same position for all the shots. Pretty neat. I also thought the editor did great with providing footage as examples in relation to the discussion.

According to this report gas emissions at Pu'u O'o have greatly increased. This happening at the time the emissions at the summit and fissure 8 decreased. As long as gas continues to vent anywhere, the eruption is not over. Most notably the gas venting could shift back to the lower east rift zone again, carrying magma to the surface with it. Or, the gas could begin to funnel magma to the surface at Pu'u O'o. When gas emission disappears completely, the eruption is over.

I'd like to know what is truly happening at Pu'u O'o. S02 being the highest last week than previously recorded. Remember, 6.9 happened, Pu'u O'o drained then Halemau'mau drained.

It seems like the lava effusion was in part due to the pressure from the rock mass falling into the crater pushing lava out of the vent. This could explain the increased effusion rate immediately following the collapse-explosion events. If the crater floor subsided to a firmer support level or the bottom of the summit reservoir, that would also explain the cessation of collapse-explosions, thereby also reducing the pressure forcing the lava out of fissure 8.

Good questions from reporters...I was wandering if the usgs would think it safe to return to the Jagger museum building at the summit if conditions stays stopped and stays really quiet...hopefully the build doesn’t have too much damage

    • @ThatRandomBeast

Unfortunately, the museum and the HVO building are beyond repair. There's no option but to permanently abandon them.

This is a good opportunity to survey, (with suitable instruments), the actual width and depth of the lava-channel exit from F8 to get a more accurate idea of the flow volume. Knowing the constant velocity of the flow at the measurement point will give more data for future reference.

Amongst other sites I've been watching is Volkan Yuksel at:
      ua-cam.com/video/M-vC7Q7rT-s/v-deo.html
He seems to do a reasonable job of collating the reports. Most of his stuff comes from USGS anyway; (play and stop at 06:25)

Not babbling crap, but simple math. Cross-sectional area of emptied channel multiplied by material-velocity gives volume per time unit. Any land-surveyor with a theodolite, pen and paper would give you the results within minutes. The question I answered was how much material had come from fissure 8, not the geometry of the Kilauea total system.

Quite amazing it could not have been timed much better with a hurricane potentially hitting the island very soon. Hopefully that will be much less servere than it would have been if it was still a full scale eruption. You know larva being thrown around in 100mph winds surly would not of been good.

The temporarily or maybe halting of lava flow will at least give some easing of mind to those affected by this never ending craziness as the hurricane is moving in. in God grace i pray that it will just pass by as its already badly affecting the lives of the locals. just imagine how bad the air will be if the rain and lava were to collide in land over that vast area.

it's still begs you too wonder that if the planetary alignment on the backside of the sun is subsiding now and going back to normal and your volcano is subsiding and going back to normal does it not make you spectulate that the planetary alignment was exactly the cause of your volcano erupting considering all the other volcanoes became active at the same time that yours did does it not make you go hmmmm.

My question, With the lava channel solid, if a new flow from fissure 8 starts will it flow over to the land which is lower and make a new path to the ocean?

    • @shamanmasterofmystery6048
      @shamanmasterofmystery6048 6 років тому

Erik 567 you would have to ask the lava gods. First thing people will have to comprehend is how to comprehend

    • @WhatAboutTheBee
      @WhatAboutTheBee 6 років тому +2

Erik 567: This question was answered in the video, albeit in a round about way. Should the flow of lava resume, it will not be able to occupy the existing channel, as the existing channel is somewhat filled with solidifying rock (the former liquid lava). Therefore, the new lava would go elsewhere, dictated by gravity and whatever the lava considers to be downhill. So yes, it most likely will find a new way to the ocean!

Godless Shill Well, the people who live near the airport made this comment after other videos. I didn’t think they were lying when they said they were stressed. They said the number of helicopters passing over their houses had increased because of increased numbers of tourists hiring helicopters to see the eruption from above 2,000 feet which is the legal limit for them.

It’s very sad that our “professionals” gave Dutchsince such a hard time with him forecasting earthquakes he’s been run off UA-cam when he’s right more then most weather men! But my point is this...he DOES NOT forecast volcanoes but he DID forecast that this eruption would start to calm down EXACTLY when it did, WEEKS AGO!! It’s sad our professionals care more about shooting down someone instead of looking into something very very spot on! People are going to end up dead before these professionals admit they were wrong!

    • @michaelkenyon3372
      @michaelkenyon3372 6 років тому +6

No it is great that they called out Dutch. Meteorologists and fire officials have publicly called out numerous people for being unreliable sources, and rightfully so. USGS didn't realize that this guy is a egotistical leader of a pseudo-science cult. He didn't forcast the calming down. Everyone who can read a graph could see for themselves that is was slowing down.
Dutch is full of shit. He will never publish. I doubt the USGS would even waste their time trashing him because they have actual research to do.

Dutch did not do anything exceptional.
Look at Dutch's map of techtonic plates and compare that to decades of observations of how the plates move, and try to make the case that he knows what he is talking about.
Dutch is a hack and your scientific illiteracy makes you the perfect audience.
Why won't he publish? Did you ever wonder about that? Think about it long and hard. Why won't dutch engage the scientific community and share his 'skills'?
Because what he does is pseudoscience. He is more interested in views than science and knowledge.

Having watched this event unfold on a daily basis (here on You Tube) from far away Europe. I am surprised that the staff of the USGS have been unable to provide any more real information to the traumatised inhabitants of Hawaii, than I could assess with my British "A" level qualiification in Vulcanism (one step below a University degree). Quite obviously the current tools available to the USGS are insufficient. Clearly what is needed is a type of ground penetrating radar, to a depth of some miles, to assess what is going on BEFORE it bursts onto the surface and causes so much Trauma and financial damage. The value of this damage, must make it financially viable to bring Industry and the Vulcanologists together to develop the necessary tools.......

@SueTube/Redscope Perhaps college attendance was unnecessary and The Duke acquired his Vulcanism knowledge via the medium of a mind-meld? Maybe, like the geologists he so disparages, we'll never really know for sure. Also, if The Duke is expecting GPR to be developed to get responses from depths of 'some miles' when the current maximum limit is in the order of 100ft, then he lacks education in back-scatter physics and he may be in for a veeery long wait. :-D

Can you tell me exactly what time tomorrow it's going to rain and I'm going to rain I'm going to get? Of course not you might be able to get close but you won't know for sure and when it comes to government agencies they've learned long ago never to deal in absolutes. The only answer they can ever really say is I don't know or our best guess. If they try to say something as a fact somebody will get pissed and probably sue them because it wasn't exactly correct. So there's no exact way of knowing what's going on down there and there's no ground-penetrating radar that can get close to that depth but they can with the best system that is available and they are and that's just watching all the earthquake waves move through the ground since they travel differently through magma. As for giving warning that it's going to erupt they did several days of it. it was well covered in the news even on the mainland well before the first lava ever broke through the surface.

It was suggested at the beginning of the "eruption" that no new lava was involved (over century old pool from previous eruption), that mile deep fraking by the foreign owned rift zone geothermal power plant caused a leak of the magma pool under the caldera to the rift zone.

The initial eruption was from lava from the 1955 eruption. The PGV plant was put in place well after that event. Kilauea has been erupting for thousands of years on its flanks and will continue to do so. The PGV plant had nothing to do with this.

Ancient calendars were...... less accurate. Didn’t your world end with the Mayan calendar?

Personally, the hardest thing for me to understand about the hawaiian sovereignty movements is the racial exclusivity. As a mixed breed myself, I've always been very proud of hawaii's long history of integration. The fact that the Kingdom of Hawaii was only 20% kanaka maoli in 1893 leads me to believe that any restoration should keep the same racial proportions. And once I get to that point, and realize that today we have about the same proportions, I can't make the leap to say that what has happened to us since then in Hawaii wasn't for the best. If we went back to the constitution in place during 1893, and restored the monarchy, our people of asian descent wouldn't be allowed to vote. And only males would be allowed to vote. And Bumpy would be King. I know people feel strongly about the issue, but I don't understand why these issues don't seem to bother them the way they bother me.But I have a question - are we really motivated by legal and moral principles, or is that a facade for the true motivation of economics? If native hawaiians had kept hold of their lands during the Great Mahele, and in this day and age were amongst the richest people living in Hawaii, would this still be an issue? Would rich hawaiians want a return to monarchy? Would rich hawaiians want a return to racial purity and isolation? It seems that hawaiian sovereignty is the flag around which people who are 'have-nots' have gathered. And the fatal flaw I see there is that native hawaiians do not have a monopoly on poverty. My aunt in waianae is as local as they come, and as poor as they come, but she's pure portuguese. She deserves good health care, affordable housing and decent wages just as much as the 95% haole 5% hawaiian guy living in kahala with kids in Kamehameha school.

Wen Ling hey how are you doing love... after reviewing your comment I believe I may be able to share some clarification. First off the Kingdom of Hawaii never existed. The Kingdom of Hawaii never declared International Independence. But on November 28th 1843 the Hawaiian Kingdom became an internationally-recognized Sovereign independent nation. In regards to Hawaiian Kingdom citizenship, Aboriginal Hawaiians have the legal International right dictated by their blood quantum to exercise Civic duties in regards to the internationally recognized Hawaiian Kingdom. In regards to Hawaiian Kingdom citizens without Aboriginal Hawaiian blood quantum, as long as they can prove their ancestor was in the Kingdom on or before January 16th 1893 they are allowed the benefits of the Hawaiian Homestead Act which was passed in 1921 sponsored by Prince Jonah Kuhio. Prince Jonah Kuhio was The Heir Apparent to the Hawaiian Kingdom and he was jailed for exercising his executive right. In regards to Hawaii statehood, annexation cannot be authorized without the Aboriginal citizens consent, no Aboriginal Hawaiian agree to annexation. The opinions of the immigrants whether it was from America, Britain, Italy, Germany, France, Korea, Japan, Portugal or Russia does not matter in regards to international law. The only opinions that matter in the Hawaiian Kingdom is the citizens of that Kingdom. The Hawaiian Kingdom is a multi-ethnic singular culture Kingdom. There are multiple ethnicities but only the aboriginals have the rights to the land. And without the Aboriginal support all of Hawaii is currently illegally occupied in accordance with the permanent Court of arbitration case number 1999-01. There is no sovereignty movement in Hawaii because the Hawaiian Kingdom is already a sovereign internationally-recognized constitutional monarchy. and all members of the house senate and governor's office within the Hawaiian territory are liable to be charged underneath the Nuremberg example. And I do not support any immigrant from any country who does not recognize the Hawaiians Aboriginal Civic claim to the territory of Hawaii. The geopolitical economic resources available to the Hawaiian kingdom are numerous including the assets available by the World Trade Organization and the World Bank. To deal with these organizations a country must be Sovereign and internationally recognized which the Hawaiian kingdom is. In regards to your aunties situation in Waianae, poverty is very common when the international ships have to travel to California before they come to Hawaii. The American occupation disabled the Hawaiian Kingdoms Pacific trade route, once FREE TRADE can come directly from Asia to Hawaii cost of living will go down. And in return it should alleviate some of the poverty issues. This is a very complex situation but the Hawaiian Kingdom will rule the Hawaiian territory again. 125 years we've been fighting the United States occupation. We will never give up. A Hanover study which marketed to veterans annotated that 43% of Aboriginal Hawaiians have served in the military. This proliferates the Hawaiian Kingdoms warrior spirit. It makes it very hard for anyone to tell this nation of combat veterans that they do not own they're Aboriginal Homeland.

*There will be great earth quakes, famines and pestilences in various places, and fearful events and great signs from heaven.*
    *Luke **21:11*
*I will show wonders in the heavens and on the earth, blood and fire and billows of smoke.*
    *Joel **2:30*
Jesus said 2000 years ago that all this things will take place and even in the Old Testament it is mentioned that these things will occur.
If those things are coming to pass in our days, it means that we should trust Jesus and we should believe that He died for our sins and that he resurrected.
As the Bible says in Romans 3:23
*for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.*
And in Romans 6:23 it says:
*For the wages of sin is death*
In Romans 5:8 the Bible says:
*But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.*
In the book of John 3:16 it says:
*For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.*
God loves you, but the sin in your life separates you from God. But God in His love for you has sent Jesus to died for your sins. When Jesus came on the earth, He was perfect, without any sins, but He took upon Him our punishment. He died for your sins. But the third after His death day He ressurected and He is alive today!
So what should you do to recieve forgiveness?
-You should admit that you are a sinner and repent of your sins. To repent means to abandon your sinfull life and to follow Jesus for the rest of your life not looking back
-Believe in your hearth that Jesus is Lord and that God had raised Him from the death
    -And call upon His Name
    * 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.*
*10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.*
    *Romans 10:9-10*
This is an example of how you can pray (use your own words, pray from your hearth):
Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, I am S-o sorry for what I have done, please forgive me for what I have done. Today repent of my sins. I will accept you as my Lord and Savior and I want to follow you for the rest of my life
I urge you to do this NOW because you don’t have much time. The judgement of God will come upon this world. If you reject Jesus and chose to not repent
    ACCEPT JESUS NOW!

24 Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. 25 The other disciples therefore said to him, “We have seen the Lord.”
So he said to them, “Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put my hand into His side, I will not believe.”
26 And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them. Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, “Peace to you!” 27 Then He said to Thomas, “Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side. Do not be unbelieving, but believing.”
28 And Thomas answered and said to Him, “My Lord and my God!”
29 Jesus said to him, “Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
      John 20:24-29
I believe in Jesus because he changed my life, he gave me a new life, a new beginning. He can give you a new beginning too, a second chance!
The things in this world will never fill the void in your life, will never give you happyiness, money, smoking, drinking, taking drugs, watching you know what will never give you peace and joy. Jesus is the only one that can give you peace for eternity!!!
Jesus loves you so much despite what you had done in your life. He can change your life too!
