I have been enjoying you recent vlogs on your 2024 makes. You are doing a terrific job of giving a brief review on each garment. Your comments are concise and informative. And most impressive is your fabric choices. I have loved almost all of the fabrics you chose. I wish I had your eye for design and color. Thank you for sharing.
Just found your videos on You tube. Loving your approach and honesty with the projects you have done. I used to make clothes years ago but work and family took over. I am semi retired now and you have inspired me to start sewing clothes again! Thank you! Will be watching your videos in 2025. ❤❤
I love seeing and hearing about each of your makes, Kim. This series is so much fun to look forward to each day. Your breakdown of how you made each garment and then seeing it on you is really informative. Thanks for all the good information. Love the rose and blue dresses. What's next? ❤
@@kathymcconville6428 thanks Kathy. It's been quite an intense week, but I've learnt a lot trying on my makes and reading over all my notes. Jackets next in about 5 mins! Enjoy ❤️
Your two dresses are fabulous and really suit you. Iv'e stopped buying big four patterns as the measurements, or lack of them, drive me crazy plus they are expensive! My favourite make of the year 2024 was a Pattern Emporium Take The Chance shirt dress. I used a lovely drapey viscose and did long sleeves, the three tiers and buttons all the way down. I also included a second yoke piece as you did using the burrito method. I'm making another one soon for my daughter who loved mine so that was a huge compliment. I'm really enjoying your videos. Very imformative and full of useful sewing information.
@@christinadore9197 thanks Christina. I know what you mean about the Big 4 patterns. I think this is why so many sewists are moving across to indi companies. Doing these videos has inspired me to make some of them again and The Take The Chance dress is one of them. I love making things for my daughter and get silly excited when she asks for something!! ❤️
That pink and white pattern emporium is my absolute fave! Im not sure why because im not a fan of tiered dresses but it compliments your hair and complexion and i think a shirt style dress neckline and front detail interest suits many/most people, especially with your height. Enjoying review. I haven't cottoned onto burrito method, just cut 2nd yoke, sew up and hand sew shoulders as per previous method to contain raw seams. I'd be interested in your explanation/demonstration of burrito method.
@@gerrysiebert8639 I think because I love shirts, this dress is an extension of the shirts I do love. I will show the burrito method at some point. Patience!! 😘❤️
The pink and white floral dress really suits you, it is gorgeous. Just found your vlogs and love your presentation style and the info you give. Thank you
BTW Pattern Emporium should pay you a commission! As a result of watching one of your other Vlogs, I went to their site and bought a dress pattern. You are right, they are good value for money and very reasonably priced. Have you tried Ellie & Mac? They are very similar.
Hi Kim, I think the Vogue dress is lovely, but I know how it feels when something doesn’t feel right. The other two are gorgeous, I agree pattern emporium are good value and Kate has started adding FBAs to some of her patterns. You mentioned the Indian seller of the beautiful blue print, I can’t seem to find it . I’d like to see if he ships to the antipodes, thanks ,Bridget R
@@bridgetrsews thanks Bridget. If Itokri ships to the UK I'm sure they do everywhere. itokri.com/collections/hand-block-print-fabrics ❤️ itokri.com/pages/fabrics the fabric I bought was from their Mashru range
I think the first dress would be nice without the sleeves, and either hemmed or with a narrow band. The second dress is a lovely fabric and looks very nice on. I'm not sure skirt tiers would suit me, although I did once have one of those gypsy skirts (but to be fair, I was about 18 years old!!). I normally don't like poly but I did order some 'cotton touch polyester' from Pound Fabrics a while ago and made a summer sleeveless dress and it turned out very nice. I love doing the burrito method - very easy once you get the hang of it. That third dress is gorgeous and would look stunning in black. I haven't tried any of my Style Arc patterns yet, I have five, but I think I will give one of them a go soon - perhaps the Montana to get me used to their instructions, or lack of. I keep saying I'll wear more skirts and dresses, and bought some patterns to do that, but I always gravitate back to trousers and tops!
@@Yorkygirl59 thanks Diane. I revert back to trousers and shirts, but it was nice to make some dresses and I'd like to make more this year. Happy sewing ❤️
