    For the traveler who has a lot of gumption, confidence, time, and is on a budget, you can take public transportation and get from downtown Cairo to the Giza Plateau (with about 20 minutes of walking total) for less than $1 USD! In this video, I show you how to use the metro and a public bus to get there.
    Once you are at the Giza Plateau, you could potentially walk the rest of the way, but it is better to hire a taxi to take you around the plateau if you intend on doing more than just going up to the two biggest pyramids and going to the Sphinx.
    Check out my video on taking public transportation from the Sphinx exit back to downtown Cairo---coming next week!

      Hey Anthony! To do that, just watch my video on taking a public bus from the airport, and that bus takes you downtown, minutes away from Tahrir. Then, use this video to get from downtown to the pyramids! My video on public transit from the airport is here: m.ua-cam.com/video/oHAhhgW7qL8/v-deo.html

    Dear Gus, thank you for the informative video. next month i will be in cairo airport and i will have 7 hours transit time before connection flight
    I’d like to ask you two questions if u kindly have time to reply
    1) from cairo int.airport i plan to take taxi to the giza platform, pls tell me the ideal fee of the taxi so that i may bargain if necessary
    2) having spent half and hour in giza (quick tour) i will go to tahrir squire (which is in the middle of the way back to my direction to airport) i will try local food and take selfie in the squire and going back to the airport by taxi.
    do you think i can make it in 7 hour lay over?
    thank you in advance

    • @EgyptAdventuresTravel
      @EgyptAdventuresTravel  10 місяців тому

      I don’t think you’ll be able to do anything in a 7 hour layover, unfortunately. It’s just not going to be enough time, and with how chaotic and unpredictable Cairo is, I would hate to have you miss your flight!

    The best way to travel in Cairo i Uber. July 2023, 1$=30pounds/EGP , Uber from:
    Tahrir Squer - Al Azhar Parque or Mosque = 23 EGP / 0,77$
    Coptic Cairo = Giza 55 EGP / 1,85€
    Giza Piramids-Dzesera Piramids - 107EGP / 3,6$
    The best way to travel !

      I love using Uber in Egypt and use it often. I also love taking public transit-what a great way to authentically see the city the way locals do, while getting an experience that is totally unique?
      For the beginner traveler in Egypt, using public transit for one of two destinations and focusing on the Cairo metro (the easiest public transit to use) is a good idea, and then using Uber or a private driver for the rest 👍🏼

      @@EgyptAdventuresTravel If You have a time and visiting Cairo or Giza for longer time, and want to see a real life - yes. Short time 2-3 days - UBER only.

    • @EgyptAdventuresTravel
      @EgyptAdventuresTravel  11 місяців тому +1

      @@mareknowak9088 even for a short trip, 2-3 days, I would still recommend someone hop on the Cairo metro once just to get the experience. It’s very easy to go to Coptic Cairo on the metro and it’s usually faster than an Uber, so that’s often my recommendation. But of course taking public transit in Egypt is for the adventurous travelers, so it’s not for everyone!

    can you tell us how far it it from the airport and the times... also the times of the metro do they run every hour, 1/2 hour?? when do they start operating and end.

    • @EgyptAdventuresTravel
      @EgyptAdventuresTravel  2 роки тому

      To get from the Airport to the Pyramids and vice versa requires a public bus, then the metro, then another bus. I do not recommend it, but instead recommend a private driver. If you need help with your Egypt trip, feel free to email me at egyptadventurestravel@gmail.com and I would be happy to chat about a customized itinerary and guide recommendations! Thanks for watching.

    Great video. I've got a big suitcase and a few bags. Wondering how much a taxi would cost from Giza Metro to the end of Al Haram Street (the pyramids)? Or is it possible by bus? (they look smallish inside)

    • @EgyptAdventuresTravel

      You could try taking them on a bus, but a taxi wouldn't be a ton--you can check the prices easily on the Uber app :)

    Hello Gus, how many hours would you budget for a visit at the pyramids? I plan to stay at the Mena House. I believe they are close to the pyramids?

    • @EgyptAdventuresTravel
      @EgyptAdventuresTravel  Рік тому

      For the Giza Plateau, I budget 3-5 hours, depending on how much time guests like to see the historical site, whether or not you do a camel ride, how many photos you want to take, or whether or not you do lunch inside the Plateau. The Mena House is right across from the entrance to the Giza Plateau.
      If you have additional questions, feel free to send me an email at gus@egyptadventurestravel.com and we can set up a consultation. Thanks!

    Hello. Would you recommend taking Uber from Giza station with a 4 year old kid back to our hotel close to the Sphinx? Is that area also very crowded? Wouldn't be in that case better to get of one station later at Om El-Masryeen? The bus drive and crossing road with a 4 years old seems bit scary so I think better to avoid that...

    Do you reckon it is safe for solo female travellers to take the public bus? Or should we just stick with the microbus?

    • @EgyptAdventuresTravel
      @EgyptAdventuresTravel  Рік тому

      Both the public bus and microbuses may be uncomfortable for solo female travelers, so I would use caution when using either. Uber or having a driver would be a more comfortable option. Or using the metro when available.
