Gloss Final Episode 1990

NZ's first night time soap? Gloss (1987-90) predated Shortland St (1992) and Hercules (1995) and showed that Auckland had the capacity to produce broadcast quality programming. Featuring the who's who of pre-millennial kiwi talent many of whom dropped in over the three seasons to chew scenery and practise their extended close-ups. First amongst equals was clearly the imperial Kevin Smith, who despite being a ravishing hottie was the funniest man alive, and who started here on his path to being a man who could do all of his acting with just his eyebrows. Also Temuera Morrison, Miranda Harcourt, Geeling Ng, Andy Anderson, Danielle Cormack, hell, everyone... The final episode, I apologise for the terrible state of this VHS rip. The terrible state of the hair and dialogue are entirely the production's own, except inasmuch as it's an aspirational look at Auckland feshion late last century.
