I absolutely adore Dinner is not over Yet, like there's plenty of "please don't commit suicide" songs but this one is like... it just hits different, saying "yeah, you could and I know it feels much better, but that's later, you can die later, first we get through life, first we finish this" with that childlike metaphor that you have to finish all your dinner before you get dessert
A lot of Jacks micro songs actually have full versions (just without the animations), like tea errors and dinner is not over, you should really check them out
i freaking love his songs even tho some people think it’s kinda freaky but really just listening to it while drawing a unique drawing or building a cool, funky outfit to wear or just to listen to it! i just think so unique which makes it so cool!!!
If we're on a weird streak when it comes to music, I'd like to suggest Sodikken! It's unusual and definitely not everyone cup of tea, but it's so creative and unique as well! The videos for music are also very well animated and drawn
I lovee jacks songs a lot. I love listening to his songs while crafting or drawing! I especially love: Buttercup, Dead weight, coffee, Baby hotline and Oh klahoma. Just sooo good
AND WILLWOOD AND TALLY HALL STUFF ON YOUR OTHER CHANNEL TOO??? UGH WHAT A TREAT Also!! A good chunk of Jack's micropop songs have been extended. They get really in depth and they're my personal favorites of his!
Actually, the extended version of "dinner is not over" is one of my absolute favorites! The whole song (in case you weren't clued in already) is about suicidal tendencies and overcoming them. A few of his songs are actually, including the first 2 songs in his "HiLo" album; they go hand-in-hand as one story. Jack inspires me so much it's insane Imagine being this talented

Cooking with Abigail is about a girl names Abigail who wants to have a cooking show, but her only audience is a bunch of creepy old men, which emphasizes the phrase "Walking around in her pretty apron". That's also why you see old men in the background, and Money underneath the door.
"Dinner Is Not Over" is about a girl contemplating suicide and a friend of hers is basically saying "Hey, maybe don't do that." Lyrics like, "You say, 'no more ways', and now you've got to chose; you said 'I've got the power to go anywhere', and darling, it's true." And "I've tasted dying and it tasted good, but that dessert; you can have it when the dinner is done!" really drive the point of the track.
i always cry at the end of the ballad of hamantha. the way jack sings about her becoming a star is so emotional and raw.... idk i really live his stuff. another favorite of mine is cheeseburger family! i suggest listening to the entire song, it's really good.
It actually pains me that you didn't listen to the extended versions or jacks micropop because it goes into depth in the songs like tea errors it does talk about tea errors " run into to tea errors running faster faster" most of his songs are extended so if you want to listen to his songs more fully it's a recommendation to go listen to it!
Dinner is not over is my favorite song by jack. It soothes one’s fears of death by saying it will be a good experience while also telling the listener to wait for their life to be over before embracing death instead of rushing into it with suicide.
Dinner Is Not Over is one of my favorite Jack Stauber songs as it manages to perfectly encapsulate a very dark time in my life... and how I managed through it. The lines: "I've tasted friendship, I've tasted you/ I've tasted heartbreak, I've tasted food." Describe how the singer feels they've tried everything to find happiness but nothing tastes good, well nothing except... "I've tasted dying and it tasted good!" However that isn't the conclusion of the song, "But that's dessert, you can have it when the dinner is done." Is blunt but probably the truest way I've ever seen someone try to explain what it's like to put off suicidal thoughts. Death might be sweet but if you skip over life to get to it sooner it won't be satisfying... "So put it down." Which contextualizes the imagery of a lollipop noose or popsicle gravestone... It's been a while since I've watched your other Jack videos but if you're looking for more traditional songs I'd suggest Cupid and Dog Nightmare for very different reasons haha. Also Leopard if you want to experience whiplash eight times in a row!
Hamantha hits close to home since I have tuberoses sclerosis and there's no cure (granted, I don't have autism or frequent seizures. Others with TS have it worse than me and I hope that doctors find a cure quickly)
Those Eggs Aren't Dippy is a recent favorite of mines. Some other suggestions: Deploy Fighter Cheeseburger Family Cupid Today, Today Inchman Keyman John & Nancy Beird Leopard Jack's music really speaks to me. I definitely would recommend Pop Shop Opera and Opal too.
I’m early for once!! I just want to let you know how much I love your videos. When studying for exams in May, I just threw on a playlist of you reacting to stuff and it helps me focus so much. Keep up the amazing content, and keep being awesome!!!!
The song “dinner is not over” tries to imply that you shouldn’t kill yourself. Because dying seems like the sweet relief so it’s played out as dessert and the “dinner” is played out a bit like life because there is still much to explore and “taste” so you shouldn’t have the “dinner” yet.
Hey! I saw someone else recommend Sodikken, and I'd also love to see you listen to some of their music! Some recommendations: Misery Meat People Eater Gretel Redmageddon Nothing Man Also fair warning, their music does tend to dip into weird territory, but it's super unique, and the animation is gorgeous as well!
Please, try Omori! I know it has been recommended to you before, but it's a really, REALLY good soundtrack, some would say on par with Undertale I think, as a musician, you would enjoy it a lot! Thanks.
I'm not sure if anyone else has commented this yet, but Dinner is Not Over is one of my favourite songs (it was extended into a full song by the way!). It's basically anti-suicide, and it's always been the most uplifting songs when I'm in a bad place. Instead of saying "don't die, its bad!" which just feels condescending, it feels much more understanding. Saying death is like dessert, saying I know it's tempting and I understand how much you want it, but you're just gonna have to get through dinner first. It feels like someone gets it, and we've all had to finish dinner before getting dessert, it makes life seem so much more manageable when everything seems bleak and overwhelming. I've always loved morbid art - maybe that's why I love this song and Jack Stauber so much - but even then, although Dinner is Not Over seems very dark, it has a really positive message in it.
Jack stubber is the best, I love his music and art style! I actually spent all day listening to his music he is truly amazing! Amazing video as always and I love how real your reactions are! hope you have a wonderful day/ night!

In the dinner and dessert one, dinner is representative of life and dessert is representative of death. Basically it's about waiting until dinner (your life) is over to get dessert (die). Basically, it's telling you not to k!ll yourself, because your life isn't over. As made evident by the noose and in some ways the final line of 'so put it down'. Pretty dark.
Hey, so I don’t know if you’ve listened to this song but it’s called “Muffin” by CG5 and Badboyhalo. It’s a Dsmp song that came out a couple months ago. It’s a really sweet song so I think you should listen to it!
