Yes, I think they are pretty much the only brands that consistently make fragrances that I want to wear. Both owned by LVMH, so maybe I should check out their other brands? 🥰
I really enjoy your slant on fragrance content and appreciate your down-to-earth approach. My husband, who isn’t into fragrances at all and barely tolerates my reckless enthusiasm for it, always compliments when I wear Alien or Alien Fusion, two highly polarizing scents seem to float his fragrance hating boat 😂.

It's weird isn't it? Cos the people who love them, absolutely love them, but the audience is lower. Same with my Halloween video and history of curtains fragrances videos, limited views but people who watch love them 🤷♀️ I enjoy them so I will still make them... That's the main thing isn't it? As always I really enjoy your answers, I really appreciate that you stand out in a very positive way here on Perfumetube. I am so tired of all the same perfumes going around, as you mentioned, and I have also been seeing some content creators wanting less critical questions from us viewers. And that really bugs me. Why should perfumereviewres not get critical questions when it comes to the matter of transparecy and overconsumption? And I do not mean that people should be rude, of course not, but critical questions should and must be asked.
Thank you ❤️ Yes absolutely, if it's asked in a constructive and non aggressive way, then there should be no issues... There is a huge issue with transparency here and also on IG especially (probably TikTok too, but I don't know, I don't watch..) so much gifting that is not overtly stated as such. With the overconsumption thing, I am absolutely shocked that no one else here actually does the annual spending video I have done for the last three years, and just totals what they've spent and resold. I think for a lot of channels it would be eye opening. But I guess them reselling PR might be an issue, or perhaps just how much of their collection was PR might also be the issue, so that perhaps is why they don't, I'm not sure. Also I saw one influencer here describe a fragrance as smelling of "quiche" when she meant "quince", someone politely pointed it out and said she found it funny in a friendly way and got a nasty response, these things happen, I found it funny too, if people noticed it most people would since quiche is a quite random thing to say in a perfume review afterall, but perhaps that reviewer might not know fully what a quince is or whatever and be super sensitive. Who knows, but they should just admit their error and move on 🤷♀️
I don't know why Miller Harris isn't hyped either Claire. I think they make some beautiful fragrances and, as you said, quite reasonably priced for a niche house. Thanks for the heads up on the other fragrance you tubers. I'm off to check them out 😊
Apparently not all their lines are available in the US, so maybe that's part of it, just their global availability? They definitely do send PR and I see affiliate marketing on IG a lot too, so it's not lack of that! I hope you enjoy the other channels. 🥰

Your videos are great and I always learn something from them. I like that you have varied topics on perfumes and don't pursue being sponsored. If a UA-camr is sponsored then are the reviews honest? I also like to buy 2 ml or 5 ml samples. It is more fun and I can afford to try a lot more than if I purchased a full bottle of a fragrance. When I find one I absolutely love I'll purchase a travel size or a decant. Keep being you. Thank you.

💯 agree about not all the perfumes we are sent are our cup of tea ,that’s been proven with me and so many dossier fragrances ,it’s OK to not like them all 🤷♀️I just pass them along to others that actually use and love them I rarely watch any of the bigger channels ,it’s just not me ! Yes, exactly, your family love them if you don't. Not everything will be for us. It's normal. I think brands need to see that and not expect reviewers to love everything. Dossier are pretty good with that I think. Also just because we don't like something it doesn't at all mean that other people won't. It's just sharing our personal opinions 🥰
I'm very much surprised it took me so long to find your channel! My plan is to watch several of your videos per day until I can view them all. I'm in the US and just learning about the fragrance world. Was sort of hoping also, that you might mention a favorite tea or teas; but,I understand you are focused on fragrance. (Is PG Tipps any good? I have tried Taylor's Yorkshire Red and enjoy it.)
Haha 😂 tea! I'm a PG tips person but I don't think that's held in high regard here, although I wouldn't be surprised if it's the no. 1 brand in the UK either. PG stands for pre- gestive, it was meant to be drunk before meals. Tips refers to the fact that the younger leaves are picked. 🥰,

Interesting tag. I'd like to see less seasonal perfume lists! I know it's still not going to happen but mood affects what I choose as much as the weather. I often crave florals and freshies when it's cold and patchouli's in the heat 😂
You know what Kathy, I sometimes don't do them, even though they are huge view count videos because I find them a bit dull sometimes and I agree with you that what I choose is determined by mood as much as the weather.

I might have watched this many times now. I love the dress, yes it's very you. This question was a tricky one for me 🤣. I had no idea you were British 😱 I was thinking Greece 😅. Yes you're from a lovely posh area and Yorkshire is a fine place. Yes Alien is heavenly isn't it 😍 I'd love that on my partner. There's nothing quite as wow. Yes, I've realised that I'm very sporadic with my designer choices though I have a good few Chanel, Dior and Joops. Niche/indie I do have a few faves. Miller Harris are very good. They have some really nice ones. I agree with them being so affordable you'd think they'd do better with how good they are. Probably not big over in the US and of course no PR 😉. I struggled with this value one too. Yes bargain hunting is fun. And I genuinely haven't sat down and added up how much things are, it's irrelevant if I want it. Ah the PR question 🙄 this was a long answer 😂 I infact cut my answer in half. I mention the bias too 🙄 yea we don't have to love everything. I have someone very close to me who doesn't make the best cuppas and I've always been honest about that politely 😜. My micro influencers were mixed with the who has influenced me question. Scentedsnowdrops? I'm not a fan I have to be honest 😉 he moans endlessly. I will have to check out Kate, Liz and Luke. I think I'm very influenced by that Lizzie lass and Maddie and Em. Such a mixed taste. I'm not sure my tastes have been hugely influenced. I am really shocked you don't have loads of caramel vomit scents from this year 😮. I'm curious about the new "Angel" I enjoy a good insulting car crash from time to time. Ah this question 🤣 again a very long answer for me. I get the best deals, have many travels/decants of niche frags I get curious about. Often full bottles are not necessarily as my collection is quite bog 😳 My thrifted closet is better quality and more interesting (with lots of vintage) than any other time in my life. Yes! This is exactly how I feel, I don't need huge volumes of fragrance and if I can get them for less, then that's fab! And I love buying vintage clothes and secondhand jewellery, I think I look more interesting and they are cheaper and better quality than now if you are picky, it just takes time! Great video! I grew up in flat farm land, too. My grandparents had a farm and when I was small I used to help my grandma gather eggs in the chicken coop. 🐣 I also love vintage bags, but I'm way too tall to buy vintage clothes LOL. Loved hearing your answers! I think for me, I am really shifting away from the huge channels that tend to focus on primarily uber expensive Niche brands. And when newer viewers make comments like,”oh it would be nice to see more affordable brands” they get rude replies like,”well this isn’t the channel for you then”.. and yes I have seen that on a few! Huge turn off. Especially when I know they are being gifted most of these 4-600$ fragrances. And they make that their whole aesthetic as if they’re just rolling in money. Can’t relate,lol! And they also are rather good at fence sitting, as it were.. being vague about what the fragrance really smells like or how it performs simply because they have affiliate links. Not that it’s a bad thing in general, but when I see that it does give me pause. Can’t wait for your Q&A video! Be fun to get to know you and also get insight into your experiences on fragtube ❤
Wow, that's quite shocking isn't it?! I do like trying more expensive stuff sometimes but I just get samples, I actually don't have very much of it because I don't think most of it really is me, most especially with mainstream niche. I know if influencers are gifted it, the pressure there is to be positive for the brand's to want to gift more, but who wants a cupboard full of fragrances they hate waiting for the eventual declutter? I know there's affiliate income, but surely that's not a satisfying life to lead?! Fence sitting I do get, people can be quite militant when you really dislike something that they love 🤣 but I guess that's life. No one is more right or wrong than anyone else. If people disagree, they need to start channels and be heard, the more the merrier. Thank you ❤️ I have so many questions Julia 🙈 I'm hoping for two parts to get answer them all, but who knows. @@dr.claire.perfume I'd be speculating, but it could be some underlying programming somehow connected to maternity, connection or creation. Us guys sometimes use the feminine pronoun too when it's a cherished item. But personal associations and habituated correlations may also play a role. Listen to me, sounding like a discussions section. 😂
I've seen you mention a few times now that you buy a lot of fragrances second hand, I have some questions about that. Do you get them all from ebay? How do you tell if something is fake or not? That's really my biggest issue with buying 2nd hand if I can't see the product in person before buying it. Although, I will admit I probably have a slightly exaggerated fear of buying fake fragrances.
I have a video about buying secondhand, you might want to check that out. But basically, ask a lot of questions if you are unsure and use PayPal, because you will get your money back if it's fake. I would never buy new bottles secondhand, but I do buy used. Ask a lot of questions and ask for additional photos if you are worried. Out of buying probably 250 fragrances secondhand, I've had three fakes, one I didn't care about because it was in a bundle and I wanted the others (I knew it was fake), one arrived and had spelling mistakes all over the label, it was easy to prove it was fake and the other was only a few pounds and fake and immediately recognisable as fake (that was early on). Stay away from Chanel, Dior, Mugler and other popular designer fragrances in the largest sizes new or unboxed new and you will be more likely to be ok. 🥰

I really enjoy your slant on fragrance content and appreciate your down-to-earth approach. My husband, who isn’t into fragrances at all and barely tolerates my reckless enthusiasm for it, always compliments when I wear Alien or Alien Fusion, two highly polarizing scents seem to float his fragrance hating boat 😂.

As always I really enjoy your answers, I really appreciate that you stand out in a very positive way here on Perfumetube. I am so tired of all the same perfumes going around, as you mentioned, and I have also been seeing some content creators wanting less critical questions from us viewers. And that really bugs me. Why should perfumereviewres not get critical questions when it comes to the matter of transparecy and overconsumption? And I do not mean that people should be rude, of course not, but critical questions should and must be asked.
Thank you ❤️ Yes absolutely, if it's asked in a constructive and non aggressive way, then there should be no issues... There is a huge issue with transparency here and also on IG especially (probably TikTok too, but I don't know, I don't watch..) so much gifting that is not overtly stated as such.
With the overconsumption thing, I am absolutely shocked that no one else here actually does the annual spending video I have done for the last three years, and just totals what they've spent and resold. I think for a lot of channels it would be eye opening. But I guess them reselling PR might be an issue, or perhaps just how much of their collection was PR might also be the issue, so that perhaps is why they don't, I'm not sure.
Also I saw one influencer here describe a fragrance as smelling of "quiche" when she meant "quince", someone politely pointed it out and said she found it funny in a friendly way and got a nasty response, these things happen, I found it funny too, if people noticed it most people would since quiche is a quite random thing to say in a perfume review afterall, but perhaps that reviewer might not know fully what a quince is or whatever and be super sensitive. Who knows, but they should just admit their error and move on 🤷♀️
I don't know why Miller Harris isn't hyped either Claire. I think they make some beautiful fragrances and, as you said, quite reasonably priced for a niche house.

Your videos are great and I always learn something from them. I like that you have varied topics on perfumes and don't pursue being sponsored. If a UA-camr is sponsored then are the reviews honest? I also like to buy 2 ml or 5 ml samples. It is more fun and I can afford to try a lot more than if I purchased a full bottle of a fragrance. When I find one I absolutely love I'll purchase a travel size or a decant. Keep being you. Thank you.

Yes, exactly, your family love them if you don't. Not everything will be for us. It's normal. I think brands need to see that and not expect reviewers to love everything. Dossier are pretty good with that I think. Also just because we don't like something it doesn't at all mean that other people won't. It's just sharing our personal opinions 🥰

Haha 😂 tea! I'm a PG tips person but I don't think that's held in high regard here, although I wouldn't be surprised if it's the no. 1 brand in the UK either. PG stands for pre- gestive, it was meant to be drunk before meals. Tips refers to the fact that the younger leaves are picked. 🥰,

Interesting tag. I'd like to see less seasonal perfume lists! I know it's still not going to happen but mood affects what I choose as much as the weather. I often crave florals and freshies when it's cold and patchouli's in the heat 😂

Ah the PR question 🙄 this was a long answer 😂 I infact cut my answer in half. I mention the bias too 🙄 yea we don't have to love everything. I have someone very close to me who doesn't make the best cuppas and I've always been honest about that politely 😜.
My micro influencers were mixed with the who has influenced me question. Scentedsnowdrops? I'm not a fan I have to be honest 😉 he moans endlessly. I will have to check out Kate, Liz and Luke. I think I'm very influenced by that Lizzie lass and Maddie and Em. Such a mixed taste. I'm not sure my tastes have been hugely influenced.

I get the best deals, have many travels/decants of niche frags I get curious about. Great video! I grew up in flat farm land, too. My grandparents had a farm and when I was small I used to help my grandma gather eggs in the chicken coop. 🐣 I also love vintage bags, but I'm way too tall to buy vintage clothes LOL. One of my favorite shows is All Creatures Great and Small and I have become infatuated with Yorkshire accents. 😄 I will definitely check out your list of YT content creators (and, of course, Jon deserves thousands more subscribers).

Loved hearing your answers! I think for me, I am really shifting away from the huge channels that tend to focus on primarily uber expensive Niche brands. And when newer viewers make comments like,”oh it would be nice to see more affordable brands” they get rude replies like,”well this isn’t the channel for you then”.. and yes I have seen that on a few! Huge turn off.
Especially when I know they are being gifted most of these 4-600$ fragrances. And they make that their whole aesthetic as if they’re just rolling in money. Can’t relate,lol!
And they also are rather good at fence sitting, as it were.. being vague about what the fragrance really smells like or how it performs simply because they have affiliate links. Not that it’s a bad thing in general, but when I see that it does give me pause.

Wow, that's quite shocking isn't it?! I do like trying more expensive stuff sometimes but I just get samples, I actually don't have very much of it because I don't think most of it really is me, most especially with mainstream niche. I know if influencers are gifted it, the pressure there is to be positive for the brand's to want to gift more, but who wants a cupboard full of fragrances they hate waiting for the eventual declutter? I know there's affiliate income, but surely that's not a satisfying life to lead?!
Fence sitting I do get, people can be quite militant when you really dislike something that they love 🤣 but I guess that's life. No one is more right or wrong than anyone else. If people disagree, they need to start channels and be heard, the more the merrier.

My UA-cam gripe is when channels suddenly get ‘moderators’ and the live chat is full of ‘send a gift’ and ‘show your appreciation’ or the Patreon stuff, it just isn’t for me I guess. I don’t want to watch an overly produced video or belong to any exclusive clubs 😅

Appreciate the heads up on the channels Claire! 💜 Also find it interesting that women on YT tend to anthropomorphize many of their fragrances with the feminine pronoun, unless the fragrance is marketed toward men. Any thoughts why that might be? 📊

@@dr.claire.perfume I'd be speculating, but it could be some underlying programming somehow connected to maternity, connection or creation. Us guys sometimes use the feminine pronoun too when it's a cherished item. But personal associations and habituated correlations may also play a role. Listen to me, sounding like a discussions section. 😂

I've seen you mention a few times now that you buy a lot of fragrances second hand, I have some questions about that. Do you get them all from ebay? How do you tell if something is fake or not? That's really my biggest issue with buying 2nd hand if I can't see the product in person before buying it. Although, I will admit I probably have a slightly exaggerated fear of buying fake fragrances.
I have a video about buying secondhand, you might want to check that out. But basically, ask a lot of questions if you are unsure and use PayPal, because you will get your money back if it's fake. I would never buy new bottles secondhand, but I do buy used. Ask a lot of questions and ask for additional photos if you are worried. Out of buying probably 250 fragrances secondhand, I've had three fakes, one I didn't care about because it was in a bundle and I wanted the others (I knew it was fake), one arrived and had spelling mistakes all over the label, it was easy to prove it was fake and the other was only a few pounds and fake and immediately recognisable as fake (that was early on). Stay away from Chanel, Dior, Mugler and other popular designer fragrances in the largest sizes new or unboxed new and you will be more likely to be ok. 🥰
