This was the most helpful plant video I’ve seen on UA-cam! I just got a Veragated plant shipped to me, and I stated having issues right away with transparent spots, I thought this was a Veragated/Shipping issue. Turns out the plant had fungus! You saved my new plant (and my others in the house) I wish there were more plant videos like this.
Omg-So helpful! Way more helpful than going into a nursery, asking questions and getting whisy washy answers. This was very detailed and informative thank you!
I have been using your advise, 3 % peroxide water.. and they love it and the gnats didnt! Thank you for that! 🙂 Now im looking for help for my baby date palms.. they all got brown tips.. lets see 😊🙏
I am indoor house planting in NYC, US. We’re seeing temperatures as low as 23F outside. Here’s the thing: my apartment complex is so afraid of getting sued that they leave the heat on through the entire season! But that’s not the bad part… I have Meyer lemon seedlings growing and (Quercus alba) white oak tree acorns germinating in the same indoor plant-tent facing Northeast-East; so sunrise is a big thing for my Meyers. When I infrared-check the temperature, The area is usually cooler than the Meyer leaf. I have full spectrum grow lights, but the Meyers seem to be stretching to them, so I quarter turn them every week. When I set my humidifier to 60%, I only get maybe the high 40%. And when I finally get it to at least the high 50%, the temp is around 85F and the clear plastic is sweating everywhere! The overall temperature (leaf & ambiance) can fluctuate between low 70F to mid 80F. Any suggestions? Please help?
Temperature fluctuations like that can be really hard to deal with. If you haven't already, I'd consider adding a fan into your tent to help with air and humidity circulation. I also tend to use heat mats for propagating a lot, which can help increase the general heat within a small contained space. I'd also maybe consider getting some more grow lights in there so your plants don't have to stretch quite so much to reach the light
This video is so helpful!! I wish I had watched it before I got my plants, lol. I'm still a newbie when it comes to plants, and my snake plant got a brown spot that turned slightly transparent....I didn't know what was going on. It hasn't gotten any worse and it hasn't spread so I don't think it's a fungal issue. I haven't been watering it much bcuz I got gnats and I've been spraying it a lot, bcuz they won't go away. Anyways I have a grow light over it and I moved it further up and it seems ok now.
Hi 👋 It was such a joy finding your video. I've watched dozens of videos trying to figure out what's wrong with my Zebra plant, but to no avail. I have some irregular Red brown splotches on some of my leaves ranging from dime size to a quarter or larger. I bought it from a reputable nursery and have asked them since then if they could help me out diagnosing it. But it's really hit or miss with the answers. I keep it on a humidity tray and a humidifier that I keep around 70. I kept it in quarantine ( as I do all of my new plants) and it still remains by itself in a southern window about a foot back with no direct light. The blotches only started about a month after getting it. I've read where Zebra plants can be very temperamental, but I'm really getting worried. There aren't very many videos on it or it's problems. I water twice a week with only rain water and worm castings. Please help my little Zebrina. ( Her name 😏) She's gorgeous 😍 And I'm very worried about losing her. 🥺 Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated 😊 thanks PS. I don't know why, but it's seeming to let me attach a picture. But I'll keep trying 😕
Thank you so much! Zebra plants can be slightly temperamental... I don't know if you're on Instagram, but feel free to ping me a message with some photos on there if the issues keep happening and I'll do my best to help 💚 #SaveZebrina
Hi! If I noticed my soil does not have enough air flow but I just repotted it two weeks ago, should I repot again or would that anger my plants? Thank you for all your help, I've watched so many of your videos in the last week!
Amazing video!! Just got a beautiful monstera adonsonii and potted it and it’s starting to yellow and shrivel 😢😢 it was so pretty and I don’t want it to die
Thank you, I really hope it helps to diagnose/treat your Adansonii. They can be slightly temperamental, especially when adjusting to a new environment x
Hello great video, I have a question i didn't understand I got a new leaf coming from my monstera plant and it has brown spots it's the only one I notice, what exactly should I do with it. I'm new to plants.
Thank you! What sort of pests specifically? I've made a video about how to get rid of thrips (and similar advice can be applied to spider mites and mealybugs). Vid on fungal disease is on my list 💚
Love the advice on bad new growth. My monstera deliciousa put out a new leaf this winter that had black in places. I repotted her with my two other monsteras and dhes given me three nice leaves this spring although a bit smaller than previous. Just wish id seen this vidio beforehand. Thanks Claire.lol❤x
@@tewekullify . I think check you havent got pests as some of these can cause brown spots i think and also lacking a certain nutrient although i dont recall which one can cause this so maybe fertilizer. Im only learning but im sure Claire can advise better on this problem.Hope you sort itxx mine is doing really well since repotting with new leaves all growing nicely so maybe even try repotting it.
@@tewekullify also if yoy can afford too i reccomend a book called The plant rescuer by Sarah Jarvis if i recall correctly. Its so informative and i have rescued alot of my plants with help from this book. Bought it on Amazon. Good luck.xx
So I got a shower filter to filter out the hard water I have here in Florida and I have been using that water for my plants are you saying that’s bad too? Oh no is it too soft?
Today I noticed my Colocasia had patches on two leaves that were dark and slimy the dark spot disintegrates when you touch it. I can’t find anything on this. It’s a new plant, and I had researched its care, but nothing on its diseases. I cut them off and binned them. Any ideas please.
So my white princess and pink princess both has this issue around the same time. A new leaf was begging to break out of sheath and just the very tip turned black and rotted but the leaf continued to grow. Just left me with a weird looking leaf. It happened once on my white princess and after research I thought it was because I was misting like an idiot and I read water can get trapped in sheath and rot the leaf. So I stopped misting but the next leaf did the same thing and than at the same time my pink princess also had this happen. The only thing I can think of is It happened 3 days after I moved both plants from my detolf greenhouse cabinet to my milsbo cabinet and I hadn't properly weather stripped the milsbo so my plants went from 90s humidity down to like 65-70 for like 3 days. Could that cause this issue?? Literally only the tips turned black and died before the leaf could even make it out of the stem please help!
The move could definitely be part of it - most plants really enjoy a stable environment and can freak out if you move them (hence why so many people have issues with new plants). That issue often comes as a result of a watering imbalance too, so maybe do some research to make sure you're not under/over watering and meeting your plants needs x
I want to know how to treat fungal infection on dracaena plant it's been more than 1 month.. I am removing the leaves and spraying score plus fungicide after dilution it get slow but loose all it's foliage
Hello, i planted small bell peppers and now after 48 days some of the new leaves have turned darker green than the previous ones and curled in the sides! I thought it might be overwatering as I’m pretty good at that, so i didn’t water for 3 days, still no change, i put them in artificial light for hours(cz we have no sun here) and still no change! I’m so desperate and worried, can you plz tell me what i can do?

My small plant fell over but there’s no roots so I just stuck it inside the dirt The closer one to bottom is brown it was struggling before the rest is fine but I think something has it sticky
I probably should have said in this video too that good air flow is SUPER important when using high humidity levels. Nowadays I tend to put fans in the same room as my humidifiers (or grow cabinets) so the humidity can circulate better and doesn't cause a build up of mould 💚
What a pain! I'll put together a video on this soon as I know they can be such a pain. I always bake any cheap soil before I use it as it kills off any eggs or anything that might be lurking x
@@TheJungleHaven it was actually suppose to be really good soil because I’m kind of afraid of the cheap kind and it was in it. I’m going to have to try the baking thing. I always let it dry out after I get it home but I guess it wasn’t enough.
My monsters was fine and recently she’s growing black leaves and the ones she has are turning black. I only water her every 3 weeks so I don’t think it’s root rot!😢
what about fluid-filled blisters on the upperside of the leaves? The Philodendron Gloriosum i just received from the mail have these. The roots are healthy.
My philodendron has the brown spots in the middle of a couple leaves. I know you said possible fungus could it need to be root bound/ need to be repotted?!
Hiya! Yes it could need repotting - sometimes this can happen if it's used up all the nutrients from the soil. Lift it out of the pot and check to see if it looks root bound x
Sometimes they can completely dry out and be totally fine - I've got one that seems more temperamental than the other for some reason (despite similar conditions). I water one of them every couple of weeks, and the other one closer to 3 or 4. Little individual plant personalities maybe 😂 ?
I don’t think grouping plants together raise humidity? I think that’s a myth. Also with yellowing leaves, you forgot to add it can sometimes happen after a repot from transplant shock.
Personally I'd still keep the plant isolated until you've got to the bottom of it - sometimes you can see the signs of pests waaaay before you see the actual bugs themselves x
