One-week construction time-lapse w/closeups: Week 33 of the Ⓢ-series: Curtain wall work galore

- Опубліковано 1 сер 2024
- Week 33 in the ongoing Ⓢ series, which follows the construction of a new 13-story senior living building in San Francisco. This is a #construction #timelapse with various closeups and "sub-time-lapses" at various speeds, condensing the week of September 14 - 19, 2020, into about 45 minutes.
The closeups this week are dominated by curtain wall and related scenes, although there is some other stuff here and there aside from the #curtainwall activities. In particular, I finally got some shots of stairs going in. The stair work is difficult to catch, because you never know when they're going to do little pieces of it over a period of weeks, and it is hidden away in the dark of the interior, where it won't show up well unless a camera is specifically focused on that spot at that precise time. After leaving a camera trained on a likely spot for many hours of many days, I was finally lucky enough to catch some of the stair work. There's also a fair amount of framing starting to come into view now. (By the way, I do know that bottle is not really mustard.)
00:00 - Mon (decking, sweeping, foil)
07:45 - Tue (foil, curtain wall, decking, spider walk)
15:21 - Wed (alley, curtain wall, jumping boom)
23:10 - Thu (curtain wall, stairs, plans)
32:08 - Fri (plans, truck, nets, stairs)
40:48 - Sat (framing, lift extension)
44:17 - Closing and previews

On Thursday, it was asked if that was a bottle of mustard or ketchup? It’s neither. It’s a bottle of powdered chalk that is used to refill chalk lines that are used to layout walls and features on the floor for others to follow. The layout guys are usually highly skilled at reading plans and making them fit the reality of what was built. Then laying out all the interior walls etc. They usually use chalk of different colors to put down those lines then come along with spray cans of a clear protectant to protect them. In the old days we’d use aquanet or such hairspray since it would protect the lines but wouldn’t last forever. Now days they actually make specific products to do that.
30:50 That's not a bottle of mustard. It has dry powder in it for their string lines. The reel of string sits in a chamber filled with the powder. When string is pulled out and stretched out and snapped it leaves a line of powder that is used as a guide to cut plywood, etc.
The powder is colored chalk.
@30:57 - not a mustard or ketchup container. It is a squeezable bottle with a nozzle but this one is filled with powdered chalk for refilling their chalk line holders.
love the humor! Need it in times like these.
I think that was Mustard because the Plans guys is going; "Hot Dog! We're almost done!" Thanks for another great weeks video.
I think the bottle of Ketchup you were asking about is actually a bottle of chalk for filling up their chalk lines.
Thanks again. BTW I think that Ketchup bottle is line chalk ( I'm guessing )
That fish messed me up for a second. What the heck? Ok I get it now. LOL
This was a good episode. Lots of work got done this week. Looking forward to seeing the windows put in.
Pmsl at the 'Spider' hoist catching a 'Fish.' 😂😂😂😂
Hi it’s Stacie! I’m happy to see another video! The walk with the spider scared me but that’s not your fault! I love the music it’s awesome! Keep up the good work and have a great weekend!
A spider has eight legs. I will call it an elgen
Liked the fish lol
The spyder crane --- The ultimate in engine lifts
Great, as usual. Find it fascinating to watch.
Your construction technology is very modern, professional and precise
Loved the fish @ 17:40
The mustard is chalk line dust for refilling the chalk lines.
Another very interesting episode. Thanks again.
You're welcome!
Toujours très efficace et de l'organisation
Il faut se dépêcher de prendre son temps
I've been away for a while and not watched any of the progress of this build since week 28, I forgot how interesting it is to watch, now im back ive got a a lot of catching up to do!
Welcome back!
@30:51 it's a bottle of red chalk for snapping lines
Gracias son lo mejor
thanks for another great video and I think that bottle on the cart is actually a pre-mix of mustard and ketchup for those who like both on their hot dogs or burgers or blue fish for lunch, called Mustchup.
Yes, that must be it!
Thanks again for the vedio
Brilliant uploads. There is going to be fun when trying to put the Glass units into them frames,
Thanks. You'll start seeing that glass go in during Week 35.
@@HospitalConstruction I cant wait, Glass does not stretch like they had a tunicae across them frames, Great vids though.
Yeah, better than Hollywood. A big fan from Vietnam
Great.
That’s not mustard or ketchup it’s a refill container for the chalk line reels that are used
I see, they are installig the curtain wall with mullion and transom before and after the Glass, but now the modern system is to install the complete cw aluminin frame panel with Glass gaskets etc.
It really depends on the company and how they bid for the job , I’ve noticed on high risers and bigger jobs it’s mostly unitized cw, while on mid rises and smaller jobs can be stick built
@@jonathanaldana4941 Yes could be.
🇧🇷🇺🇸I'm here.
Bahhhhh ! it was only a little fish !
Still a great video. Can you tell more about the high of the building and time they expect it is ready.
The height is given in the first line of description, right under the video.
That's a bottle off red chalk
That crane is a castrato. This why its called the UNIC SYPDER crane
👍👍
You need to come setup some cameras here in Nashville construction is booming i bet there is 25 to 30 projects with 1 or to 2 sky cranes on every building being built
WO I didn't know you were part of right said fred. Singing. Crack on
And must get close to crane now driver going up lol
If I am not wrong, still 3 floors or stories to top out.
Keep on fishing.....
what is the purpose of the aluminum foil on the edge of the floor on ~8:10 ?
I would say to stop water getting into the concrete.
it is a barrier between the aluminium and the concreete
because the concreete corode the aluminium
hello colleagues
What are the two addresses of this building and the hospital from 2015/16?
Any idea, what that tower is for at the top left hand side of the building is for? It's in the mid distance.
I assume you're referring to Sutro Tower, which can be seen in the distance on the left. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sutro_Tower
18:35 why is the spider crane always backsided to it's working area?
I would assume its counter-weighted on one fixed side instead of like a normal crane where the weights are on the turret that spins always on the opposite side of the load.
First...👍✌️❤️
Darn it
yes, darn it.
27th
9945 and it still good ... ?
Gz ;-)
What is foil for?
Helps seal the curtain wall against the concrete.
The foil is actually a self adhesive butyl rubber like material bonded to thick foil. The green material they apply before hand is an adhesion enhancer. Note how the different sections of foil are applied to enhance runoff and not trap water, overlapping like shingles on a roof.
I have a photo of what it looks like now.
So do I!
@@HospitalConstruction Looking good on the windows by the way.
Im in the East cut designing a new off the grid high rise. with shanghai style led light show
So, either of you gonna share it or is this just some kind of inside joke or something? /s
@@davidbrown2849 That would be a spoiler, we don't want that.
