I remember as a child our cold drinks and milk bottles were glass and were resold and re-used. Even alcoholic beverages were sold in returnable glass bottles. Shopping bags were made out of paper. Any other liquid and cream products were sold in glass containers. All these containers had metal caps. All packaging was done with paper and paper products. Even our toys were metal and packed in paper.
Yep, that was my childhood too. I remember seeing a TV commercial where someone had dropped a glass of milk in slow motion. We were thinking the container was made of glass (and about to break), then the container hit the ground and bounced. That was the introduction of plastic bottles.

Agree! It's everywhere, nanoplastics float thrue the air, it is in our food, waterbottles, teabags, coffeepads, toothpaste and the list goes on and on. Particles have been found in the brains of laboratorium rats, immune cells die from nanoparticles. It is not looking good.
Nobody allowed to post links on UA-cam of course but I just watched a study where they tested almost every kind of seafood 'harvested' from the ocean imaginable. 100% of the samples tested had plastic in their bodies. They were hard pressed to find any creature that didn't. We're definitely eating it too, microplastics become mixed up in our systems and we have no idea what it is doing.
also humans : Let's make some of our plastics "biodegradable" meaning, of course, that they loose their composite composure and turn into tiny bits of plastic that completely infiltrate the biosphere.
We need to stop using plastics and start using things that are recyclable like paper bags! WE NEED TO HELP OUR PLANET AND KEEP IT CLEAN! HOPEFULLY THEY WILL BANNED PEOPLE FROM USING ANYTHING THATS MADE FROM PLASTICS AND ONLY USE RECYCLABLE STUFF!
If you want a way to reduce your waste: 1. Everything you buy, every bottle, cup, plastic fork, container - put it in your car. Yes, the stuff from school & work too. 2. Only clean your car once a month. 3. In a year, you will have figured out how to reduce or eliminate all your plastic use. This might sound silly, but when I first started this, I wasn't really aware of how many bottles and cans I used every month. After a few months of this, I just don't buy anything in plastic bottles anymore. I still get the occasional "Arizona ice tea" in aluminum cans, but never, ever, plastic. Aluminum is a valuable recycled metal. Of course, try not to put any food scraps in your car. Once you have to carry around all your waste in your car, your behavior will change. Good Luck and I hope you have great success in reducing and eliminating all the unnecessary plastics from your life !
Refuse to buy a beverage if it is in a single use plastic bottle. No demand = no production = no bottle waste floating around the world. It's a start that anyone anywhere in the world can do today.
Banning single use drinks bottles won't solve this problem but you have to start somewhere. The use of plastic has to be severely regulated, we managed without it before. We can do so again., especially for unnecessary things, lots of food packaging, one shot bottles, drinking straws the list must be endless.

Sadly you are stop on we are the most destructive animal on the planet before we wipe ourselves out we will have wiped out every other species first terrible
Smaller recycling units and buying back at a price will encourage collection agents to ensure that the waste is segregated. The manufacturers can establish units for treatment and product downcycle.
I like going out for a walk anytime of the year. I am disgusted with the amounts of plastic thrown out of cars. That sits in our Wonderful World. That is home to all of us
We humans are endlessly wasteful. The world is becoming a huge wasteland because nobody cares enough to stop what they are doing and pick up that piece of trash even if they had nothing to do with it. There are trash cans on every street. That's a start at least.
If this doesn't give you a warning shot, then I don't know what will. Will show at school where we are trying to get rid of plastic use as much as possible.
Everyone must take responsibility for the destruction of our planet, blaming other countries will not help at all. If everyone stopped buying bottled water, food packed in plastic and bought only bulk food, without packaging, it would be a start to solve this very serious problem.

The increasing use of plastic bags, utensils and furniture has led to a significant increase in plastic waste, which has led to a huge problem like plastic pollution. This is the time when we will have to start thinking about this problem seriously, and try to solve it.
Plastic is made of crude oil. I'm an autobody collision technician for over 30 years and in past 20 years the vehicles we drive today are made up of at least 20-25% plastic parts. Plastic does not decompose and these cars are built with weaker parts. It is not a gas mileage or weight issue. The newer cars are actually 15-20% heavier. We already pay for water that is taxed and is accessed out of our water spickets . The plastic bags at our department stores can be replaced with paper bags , all you have to do is ask like myself. Paper is made from trees and can be regrown. Crude oil cannot be remanufactured. If we all did our part , this world would be a much better place and our generations after us will thank us. God bless this world and the United states of America

Forget global warming. This is how the we all die. Ecosystem and oceans. Global cillapse.
Agree! It's everywhere, nanoplastics float thrue the air, it is in our food, waterbottles, teabags, coffeepads, toothpaste and the list goes on and on. Particles have been found in the brains of laboratorium rats, immune cells die from nanoparticles.
It is not looking good.
Plastics come from fossil fuels which contribute to global warming. They’re not separate things
Pollution actually gives to the global warming so for global warming to change the pollution needs to go down
@@maryambeha6022 there is no global warming. Only global pollution.

Just came here because of a school project but now this is just making me more aware of the bad things we do to the environment
If you want a way to reduce your waste:
We can do so again., especially for unnecessary things, lots of food packaging, one shot bottles, drinking straws the list must be endless.
yep. . . my new motto (now I know) is: Planet=Clean it. . . Plastic=Lean it
Osk57 ,,, make a regulation to ban plastik bag makers around the world, then Run after the factory who violate, show us and dont blame us whi just buy it
It only really matters if you can somehow regulate the 10 rivers in Asia where most of the plastic comes from.

Smaller recycling units and buying back at a price will encourage collection agents to ensure that the waste is segregated. The manufacturers can establish units for treatment and product downcycle.

@Kian Dugas Yes,it was. We've brought it to the brink of ruin.
Once upon a time there was glass and the re-use of things. But then the powerful rich wanted to put the plastic.

Everyone must take responsibility for the destruction of our planet, blaming other countries will not help at all. If everyone stopped buying bottled water, food packed in plastic and bought only bulk food, without packaging, it would be a start to solve this very serious problem.
Derek A Only 9% of plastic gets recycled and it can in,y be recycled so many times. Please do yourself a favor and buy a water filter
