"El Dorado" (Super Mario World Romhack) It has custom music, custom backgrounds/tiles. Custom mechanics that add to the game without making it feel like a different game entirely. It is very fun and very challenging.
With Star Fox having one game since 1997, what about Star Fox Adventures for GCN in 2002, Star Fox Assault in 2005 for GCN and Star Fox Command for the DS in 2006?
Here are a small sampling of my favorite console compatible hacks. Mario Kart CTGP Nitro (tons of new tracks) and New Super Mario Bros 3 (remake of Super Mario Bros 3) on the Nintendo DS, Pokemon Ash Gray (the entire first 100 or so episodes of the Pokemon anime with scripted events) on the GBA, any of the Mark Kurko Banjo-Kazooie hacks. The best is Jiggies of Time which is a remake of Ocarina of Time in Banjo-Kazooie. His next hack called Nostalgia 64 will be incredible when it releases. On the SNES, I recommend New Super Mario World: The Twelve Magic Orbs POWERED-UP and its sequel. I can't even describe everything they added.
For the Star Fox ROM Hack, do we know if it uses the later revisions of the Super FX Chip so we can get the best possible experience off of a FX Pak Pro/SD2SNES?
Japanese translation to English would have to go to two Castlevania games Dracula X chronicles and the rom hack of Dracula X2 (sega Saturn) that fixes the graphics, map access, and other stuff
Before I die I’d like to tell someone about this hack. On saga genesis console if you load phantasy star II and let it finish the loading screen, pull out the cartridge without restarting it and put in altered beast then press reset it mods the game so you are invincible.

A few mistakes led to that confusion. I meant to say Star Fox Zero.

star fox assault was my favorite because of all the ways you had to beat the level from fly, tank, on foot.
Animated tiles in Amida's curse is likely pulled from the Famicom version that had animations
I think so, interesting how it was never brought overseas until a fan mod
My favorites are Bootable F-Zero AX, Mario Kart Double Dash Plus, Pokémon Glazed, Melee Akaenia, Project M,
