Actually as a prototype Scaramouche want to keep the gnosis for himself and become the electro archon, he need a connection with celestia because he discovered the truth of teyvat in the meteor, childe is sent to stop him but he defeated by scaramouche prepare for 2.2 folks
whoever Scaramouche's eng va is, that man did a great job, the sass, the arrogance and the evilness were all in his voice. It made it very convincing that Scaramouche is a smartass villain

It seems Scaramouche's entrance is a bit smoother if you haven't met him in back in 1.1. If you have met him already, the whole introduction is cut off and he just suddenly appears on screen.
If you haven’t met him he won’t tell you his name is Scaramouche, he’ll say he’s “Balladeer” and MC assumes that’s his name…but for some reason, Paimon calls him Scaramouche despite not knowing what his name was. Was it a mistake or was Paimon knowing it all along?
I actually cried during this quest. Teppei's just so earnest. I like scaramouche, but after this quest I kinda hate him a lil bit. He says he's just playing his part but you can tell he enjoys his job.

Teppei's death was really sad. The Traveller seems to have formed a really close friendship with him since the reason Traveller wanted to fight the fatui directly in the first place was because he wanted to avenge Teppei Edit: whoa this is my first commemt to ever exceed 3k likes
This quest definitely made Aether love Teyvat and it's people even more. It wouldn't be weird if he'd come to see Teyvat as his new home as well. Whenever I hear his knocked out voiceline "Maybe... I wasn't meant for this world..." it made it seem like he doesn't belong in Teyvat for being an alien. He views himself as an outcast, which could be depicted as his cryo personality if you will, but none of the characters he meets are never rude to him or never tell him to leave. They have always showed kindness to Aether, no one has shown hostility. Heck, even Childe is kind towards Aether. He's been appointed as an Honored Knight by the Knights of Favonius, Honored Guest by the Liyue Qixing and now he's been appointed as a Captain of Swordfish 2. In my eyes when Ayaka wanted to Aether to fight the Shogun, it's not because he had grown tired of helping people, it's because he remembered what Dain told him to not make a God your enemy. He didn't want to get to the Shoguns bad side, but after seeing the three poor people that had lost their vision, he wanted to help out because he saw how much losing their Vision caused them suffering. Seeing how much suffering the Fatui had caused by giving the resistance Delusions, he was pissed off because these were the people that he had grown to love over his journey. Being around these wonderful people has made him love Teyvat in my opinion. Meanwhile Lumine never had these type of experiences with people so she must've grown to hate Teyvat instead.
Aether breaks my heart seeing him so angry, its like he's had enough and really wants to stop this. Lumine tho? she is scary as hell in those animations, straight-up murderer material andisn't letting any fatui or shogun go unharmed.
Teppei was so enthusiastic that I thought *he* was the spy. Which helped me in the end - my tears were saved, at least until the next tragedy, just around the corner.
I started getting suspicious of him during that scene after we investigate the area goods were stolen. I was kinda sad that he might be a spy, and the ending made me feel so horrible for distrusting him 100000/10 Miyoho

I never thought I'd be so attached to an NPC. Mihoyo did a great job developing such a temporary relationship that we somehow grew attached to. My heart hurt so much. Teppei's VA did a great job too. It was the great hope and excitement in his voice that made me like him and that final request of bringing him their new uniforms was so sad. He knew and we knew that he was not going to make it.
Ikr, I used JP VA for the Inazuma arc so I didn't hear his EN VA until I watched this video, but they were both so great- ...Man I wasn't expecting to feel so sad over an NPC holy shit.
I liked him, sort of. Unfortunately the prospect of slaughtering futui was far higher than my care for Teppei. If mihoyo allowed us actual time with him it may have been different
The Fatui are really cruel. Hearing the despair of the realization in Teppei's voice just breaks my heart. Preying on people's hopes and ambitions like that and crushing them is awful.

@@shaedcloak5803 that’s really harsh. The distinct voice is absolutely adorable and fits her anti-social personality. I enjoy the other 3 languages but they make as much mistakes as the English one IMO, in JP Yanfei is supposed to be the youngest and the most playful of the adepti but they gave Ganyu, one of the seniors, a higher voice than her. Why would the youngest sound the oldest? And Eula’s voice is too high pitched, they should swap voices. I love Chika but her VA doesn’t fit for Mona, it doesn’t sound nearly as sophisticated and broke as Mona is, a deeper voice would’ve fit Mona more. In KR they made Yanfei sound like a toddler, and in JP they made Bennett sound like a full grown man despite Bennett sounding like a child in the CN version (Bouken makes up for it though.) The EN one fucks up occasionally too, like making Venti sound flirty in his battle noises when he’s supposed to be playful, and EN Barbara sounds like she’s about to break down in tears at any moment. I enjoy Xinyan’s EN voice because she canonically grew up poor so it makes me imagine her as a country girl. I think all the dubs are great, they just make mistakes as well. Shitting on EN and glorifying the other ones is a bit hypocritical, especially if you’re not native to those languages, it becomes harder and harder to pick up small accent and mistakes in the voices. My favorite by far is definitely Korean and Japanese, but that doesn’t mean that EN is worse then them

I can’t believe these people are supposed to be professionals. In this very video the eng actors pronounce “watatsumi” in different ways, I’m sure you can hear it. I get they can’t say all the words completely accurately because some sounds are impossible for English speakers, but at least they should settle on a SINGLE way of pronouncing each word amongst themselves. Especially when it’s ridiculously simple things like which syllable to emphasize. I don’t think I’m being too harsh at all, I never had much expectations for the English dub but this is ridiculous. About casting decisions, all I have to say is the Chinese voice over is the original, they worked the closest with overall game development so no matter what you think that is the version mihoyo most intended you to hear.

I played this yesterday and, honestly, the scene where traveler runs off angrily to the factory.... from that moment I mentally clocked out, most of what Scaramouche said wasn't even processed, all I could think about was Teppei. Even when fighting, I didn't even pay attention to what Paimon was saying, I was just plowing through the enemies, emotional alongside Lumine. Now that I'm watching this, and I've played through the Archon quest in its entirety... I still can't really... process it, since Teppei became one of those NPC's like Kazari that you just get so emotionally attached to... I kept having some hope that somehow it could be reversed and Teppei would be alright... ;__;
I remember what happened, but my clearest memory is is how _furious_ I was at Scaramouche. Somehow, there’s a small part of my brain that refuses to accept he’s fully dead, maybe he’s just hospitalized, that maybe there’s a way to reverse it. I got so attached to him so quickly. I wish.. I wish he could have lived to see the Decree repealed. That’s what he was fighting for, wasn’t it?
oh my god true, i was just so mad and devastated like what...so im really glad with what happened to signora (i pity her backstory though). i had a tough time fighting her and usually when i do i give a few days to grind but this time i just went all out with teppei in my mind :(

Exactly... and he'd smile at us, the traveler, and beam about how everyone did it. That we all did it, together, and no one who sacrificed themselves did it in vain. For him to live on and get higher in the ranks and we'd come and visit him during our journeys, even... that'd have been wonderful...

Teppei's dialog was full of optimism and energy and I immediately knew what was going to happen to him. Honestly didn't expect him to actually die but act 3 was almost a horror movie.
I've never felt so sad for a NPC (even to Kazari) , all I could think about when he was just laying there on the ground, breathing shallowly, I felt so sad. And then the sadness doubled when I saw Kokomi prayed at where he died;;
I teared up. He was supposed to show the Traveler around Watatsumi and wear the earned uniforms together with them, but those promises were left unkept. RIP, king.
22:21 This scene gave even more respect to Zhongli. Correct me if I’m wrong but Zhongli’s erosion is just him getting old and won’t be there for Liyue when they need him( even though he probably has thousands of years left). So he just accepted that and watched his people grow from his protection. But Raiden wants to be there forever even at the cost of her physical body.
Nah erosion is more like what happened to azhdaha, he started going mad and hating morax and humans despite the fact that he was willingly sealed Zhongli and raiden are afraid the might end up like him

A lot of people say signora didn't do much but they forget she manipulated the puppet into creating the vision hunt decree and tge resistance into using dilusions, her actions killed a lot of people
Rule of thumb when it comes to stories: If a character is important but not that important, they're going to die. RIP Teppei, best NPC. I knew it was gonna happen, but it still put me in the feels zone :(
Well, it's not as if they've been shy about killing fan fav's in their other games. So it is doubtful that even main characters are safe from the chopping block.
I was still doubting him right to the point he was dying because I thought he was the traitor. Back in the previous archon quest, it was hinted that there is a traitor in the resistance.
Red flags of NPC without a vision who is about to die: 1) they are becoming buddy buddy with the main protag 2) they have the most basic, general, no-drip npc clothes and model 3) they are getting stronger off screen without any actual on-screen time 4) you're already going to forget their name as soon as they are dead *drop a fat F for John Twopain pls*
You would be surprised on how many people actually simp some of these NPC, like huffman, wagner or herbalist gui. For the general standard at least his name wont be easily forgotten.
Teppei is the one of the only NPCs I actually cared about. I was crying so much when I learned of what happened to him. Also, I had a feeling the mystery supporter was the Fatui, even though my first thought was Childe (he IS one of them, after all). But I sincerely hope he wasn’t part of this because I was really pissed.
Paimon is something that have same level with Archon or even Celestia, those mysterious superior entity. I'm so excited to know her true identity soon.
You know what kills me more with Teppei's death? The fact that you can see his death flags getting raised at almost every scene he interacting or with us, its there, and the final nail was when he got excited about the new uniform and trying it on together. This death, althought obviously coming, still hurts so much, because a part of us all giggled and smiled at Teppei's antics, loved his drive, and his will to stop the Vision Hunt Decree. You would think knowing his death is inevitable would have stopped me from connecting to him, but I couldn't and wouldn't have let it stop me from enjoying his presence however brief. Scaramouche better not show up soon because I'mma want to choke slam the shortie, even more when he started mocking Teppei. Consequences be damn, this man will pay.
Mostly same, except I found him annoying. He was obviously out of place, should have learned his lesson and been a person who stayed behind a desk somewhere but refused to do what he was actually good at despite getting beaten down and then lying about it every time he went out. I just tuned him out when I determined he was an obvious bait NPC and skimmed through all his scenes. Especially when they dragged on with a bunch of other NPCs.
I mean obvious bait aside, I'm the type to kinda root for dumbass like him. He was annoying to me at first with how much he embellish hia stories. Yet here again I find myself, eyes rolling as I chuckle at his antics. I guess it was that foolhearty will he had to push pass his station that made me like him, however much annoying he can be.
I wish he talked to the 2 NPCs by the bridge at Sangonomiya. One is afraid of heights and the other is getting impatient and confused because the other NPC hasnt crossed the bridge to transfer supplies

He says the kids ditched their parents and that they're lost, so he's protecting them as a knight. When you talk to the kids, they mention how there's some creepy weirdo following them

There are different voice lines of scaramouche depending on the last years event where we were very first introduced by scaramouche. If this archon quest was ur first time meeting the balladeer than he will be introduced differently and much better than this abruptly.

This quest definitely made Aether love Teyvat and it's people even more. It wouldn't be weird if he'd come to see Teyvat as his new home as well. Whenever I hear his knocked out voiceline "Maybe... I wasn't meant for this world..." it made it seem like he doesn't belong in Teyvat for being an alien. He views himself as an outcast, which could be depicted as his cryo personality if you will, but none of the characters he meets are never rude to him or never tell him to leave. They have always showed kindness to Aether, no one has shown hostility. Heck, even Childe is kind towards Aether.
He's been appointed as an Honored Knight by the Knights of Favonius, Honored Guest by the Liyue Qixing and now he's been appointed as a Captain of Swordfish 2.
In my eyes when Ayaka wanted to Aether to fight the Shogun, it's not because he had grown tired of helping people, it's because he remembered what Dain told him to not make a God your enemy. He didn't want to get to the Shoguns bad side, but after seeing the three poor people that had lost their vision, he wanted to help out because he saw how much losing their Vision caused them suffering.
Seeing how much suffering the Fatui had caused by giving the resistance Delusions, he was pissed off because these were the people that he had grown to love over his journey. Being around these wonderful people has made him love Teyvat in my opinion. Meanwhile Lumine never had these type of experiences with people so she must've grown to hate Teyvat instead.

I never thought I'd be so attached to an NPC. Mihoyo did a great job developing such a temporary relationship that we somehow grew attached to.
My heart hurt so much. Teppei's VA did a great job too. It was the great hope and excitement in his voice that made me like him and that final request of bringing him their new uniforms was so sad. He knew and we knew that he was not going to make it.
Ikr, I used JP VA for the Inazuma arc so I didn't hear his EN VA until I watched this video, but they were both so great-

I enjoy the other 3 languages but they make as much mistakes as the English one IMO, in JP Yanfei is supposed to be the youngest and the most playful of the adepti but they gave Ganyu, one of the seniors, a higher voice than her. Why would the youngest sound the oldest? And Eula’s voice is too high pitched, they should swap voices. I love Chika but her VA doesn’t fit for Mona, it doesn’t sound nearly as sophisticated and broke as Mona is, a deeper voice would’ve fit Mona more. In KR they made Yanfei sound like a toddler, and in JP they made Bennett sound like a full grown man despite Bennett sounding like a child in the CN version (Bouken makes up for it though.) The EN one fucks up occasionally too, like making Venti sound flirty in his battle noises when he’s supposed to be playful, and EN Barbara sounds like she’s about to break down in tears at any moment. I enjoy Xinyan’s EN voice because she canonically grew up poor so it makes me imagine her as a country girl. I think all the dubs are great, they just make mistakes as well. Shitting on EN and glorifying the other ones is a bit hypocritical, especially if you’re not native to those languages, it becomes harder and harder to pick up small accent and mistakes in the voices. My favorite by far is definitely Korean and Japanese, but that doesn’t mean that EN is worse then them

I can’t believe these people are supposed to be professionals. In this very video the eng actors pronounce “watatsumi” in different ways, I’m sure you can hear it. I get they can’t say all the words completely accurately because some sounds are impossible for English speakers, but at least they should settle on a SINGLE way of pronouncing each word amongst themselves. Especially when it’s ridiculously simple things like which syllable to emphasize. I don’t think I’m being too harsh at all, I never had much expectations for the English dub but this is ridiculous. About casting decisions, all I have to say is the Chinese voice over is the original, they worked the closest with overall game development so no matter what you think that is the version mihoyo most intended you to hear.

I played this yesterday and, honestly, the scene where traveler runs off angrily to the factory.... from that moment I mentally clocked out, most of what Scaramouche said wasn't even processed, all I could think about was Teppei. Even when fighting, I didn't even pay attention to what Paimon was saying, I was just plowing through the enemies, emotional alongside Lumine. Now that I'm watching this, and I've played through the Archon quest in its entirety... I still can't really... process it, since Teppei became one of those NPC's like Kazari that you just get so emotionally attached to... I kept having some hope that somehow it could be reversed and Teppei would be alright... ;__;

Teppei's dialog was full of optimism and energy and I immediately knew what was going to happen to him. Honestly didn't expect him to actually die but act 3 was almost a horror movie.
I've never felt so sad for a NPC (even to Kazari) , all I could think about when he was just laying there on the ground, breathing shallowly, I felt so sad. And then the sadness doubled when I saw Kokomi prayed at where he died;;

So he just accepted that and watched his people grow from his protection. But Raiden wants to be there forever even at the cost of her physical body.

You know what kills me more with Teppei's death? The fact that you can see his death flags getting raised at almost every scene he interacting or with us, its there, and the final nail was when he got excited about the new uniform and trying it on together.
This death, althought obviously coming, still hurts so much, because a part of us all giggled and smiled at Teppei's antics, loved his drive, and his will to stop the Vision Hunt Decree. You would think knowing his death is inevitable would have stopped me from connecting to him, but I couldn't and wouldn't have let it stop me from enjoying his presence however brief.
Scaramouche better not show up soon because I'mma want to choke slam the shortie, even more when he started mocking Teppei. Consequences be damn, this man will pay.
Mostly same, except I found him annoying. He was obviously out of place, should have learned his lesson and been a person who stayed behind a desk somewhere but refused to do what he was actually good at despite getting beaten down and then lying about it every time he went out. I just tuned him out when I determined he was an obvious bait NPC and skimmed through all his scenes. Especially when they dragged on with a bunch of other NPCs.
I mean obvious bait aside, I'm the type to kinda root for dumbass like him. He was annoying to me at first with how much he embellish hia stories. Yet here again I find myself, eyes rolling as I chuckle at his antics. I guess it was that foolhearty will he had to push pass his station that made me like him, however much annoying he can be.
I wish he talked to the 2 NPCs by the bridge at Sangonomiya. One is afraid of heights and the other is getting impatient and confused because the other NPC hasnt crossed the bridge to transfer supplies

There are different voice lines of scaramouche depending on the last years event where we were very first introduced by scaramouche. If this archon quest was ur first time meeting the balladeer than he will be introduced differently and much better than this abruptly.
