Dealing With Covid Hair Loss

  • Covid in August 2021, my hair started falling out - and it did not stop! I’ve dealt with seasonal shedding and hair falling out before but this was clearly different. I found out that hair loss is a common occurrence post-covid. Not everyone gets it, but I and a few other friends have experienced this hair loss.
I was reluctant to share it but I thought it would be an essential discussion. I didn’t see much online about it until I started researching. I hope this encourages and helps someone. We are in this together.
I post often about having a positive mindset and rolling with what life throws at you, and so once again, I must take the apostle Paul’s advice to be content with whatever state I am in!
Remember…“test” exists within the word testimony!

I lost about 40-60% of my hair after covid. This was before vaccines were available and covid was very strong. Basically, so many days of fever essentially tells your body that keeping the hair is less important than keeping you alive. As a side note, i lost my sense of smell permanently. I no longer can smell perfume or candles and can’t taste food. Although some food does smell and taste like sewage. The good news is that the hair stopped shedding and got a little better in about 9-12 months. Covid is a horrible virus. My co-workers 36 year old wife is on a ventilator right now. I hate this virus. You look gorgeous!!

Wow! I feel you...this is a terrible thing that ravaged us in so many ways. I am thankful that we are still here to tell the stories. There is strength in numbers. I pray for your full recovery and for your co-workers wife.🙏🏽

Glad you are doing well after the Covid! I want to say that I LOVE your beautiful gray hair. I don't see natural gray on many black women and I don't know why because it is so lovely! It matches the natural skin tone so much better when women of all nationalities let their hair gray. Oh, are you taking a vitamin B Complex and Horsetail extract? Those can help hair growth as well.

As a side note nutrafol I believe did help me grow some of the hair back but I did use toppers and wigs. I am also using the laser red light therapy Revian cap but it’s really expensive to buy

Yes, I heard about Nutrafol, and I'm still thinking about trying it. Now one and a half years later, my hair is fuller again but still thinner on the top, and the texture is noticeably thinner. Maybe it can get my hair even fuller.I'm so grateful it's coming back because that was a scary scene. All the best with your recovery and thanks for stopping by. We are not alone!!!

I lost a lot of my hair during my abusive marriage, more whilst escaping, then covid x3 finished it off. I don't know what to do. I used to have nice hair. My confidence is knocked, as the partner I hope for my not accept a wig wearing partner. 😢

I used Viviscal and hair growth serums. Have you tried these?
