I read somewhere that after a top NY sax teacher heard him play, he asked the guy for his number one suggestion for improving. The teacher said "Learn to play in tune." Ouch!
People often think intonation on sax should be easy. Just press the right buttons and blow, right. But saxophones don't play in tune, saxophonists do. Our band leader once read to us a letter from Mozart to a friend where he was complaining that flutes never play in tune. Yeah I agreed, but then Mozart never met a saxophone!
Nice. Correct intonation is a process, not an event. It seems almost counterproductive to practice intonation without having a pitch to match. It's worth the effort to get or make backing tracks for whatever you're working on.

Typically 440, but I did play in a band with symphony musicians where we tuned to 442. The name of the band was actually called 'The 442s'
