You missed something extremely important with “Beyond the Aquila Rift”:
In the original short story, and the animation, the alien creature doesn’t “capture” or “feed” on anything. Ships accidentally end up in the nest, and it takes the burden upon itself to telepathically feed a comforting simulation into the minds of those who are unfortunate enough to become stranded there until they peacefully pass away. The alien in personality is like a hospice nurse. It cares for you until you ultimately die from starvation and dehydration. It’s truly a tragic story with no malevolent being in sight. That’s what makes it so powerful.
Right, it shows the human bias. We see the (to us) grotesque spider-like creature, the nightmare like reality, and immediately assume it is sinister and evil. But if you step back and look at the situation more objectively and try to remove that bias, you begin to see why the sinister aspect doesn't hold up.
that's not how a spider operate. telling you that everything is fine and that she only want you good is actually quite common in an abusive (and toxic) relationship.
so my point of view is that the spider is a vilain and she disgn a space web to trap space ship.
this is not a samaritin story sry.
@@giogiolachance4313 it doesn't even look like a spider when you really look at it. you can't say that it would act like a spider since its an alien that can talk through the mind and it doesn't seem advance enough to capture ships it just looks like whatever makes humans travel through space has a glitch thats sends humans to this place that they can't survive in.
People always miss the point with stories like this. If you ended up stranded somewhere and couldn’t leave, the next best thing for you is to at least have someone to share the loneliness with. No one wants to suffer through isolation and the alien great gives them a much better outcome
@@giogiolachance4313 If you see the spider and go "it's evil" just based on that, then you are a prime example why the stroy is so good. Most would assume that the spider is evil, but the whole point (of this fictional story with a space creature we just happen to call a spider) is that she is good. What "real spiders" or "abusive relationships" are actually like is completely irrelevant. This is fiction, thus can be anything the creator wants it to be. And the creator wanted to tell a story of a scary looking benevolent being, who didn't even want to show the real horrible reality, but Thom insisted so she out of kindness obliged him, and then to save him from trauma erased his memory.
It's like Black Mirror only I don't want to hang myself after every episode.
So fucking right
I get that. I watched two episodes of Black Mirror. After that I felt really down and thought screw it, I don't have to watch something that just darkens my mood. And never touched it again.
Just some of them
The later seasons of Black Mirror lighten up a bit. One of the episodes in season 3 and at least two of the episodes in season 4 have (mostly) happy endings.
A screenshot of this comment was posted on one of the LDR sudreddits
I know maybe the story wasn’t the deepest but did anyone else find the cinematography in “The Witness” to be amazing?
It was incredible to watch!
visually, the witness was my fav.
My sis stop watching the show after that ep hahah but she has no idea what shes missing
Sydney Milagro haha understandable. That episode could be a little overwhelming for some.
It was very reminiscent of Into the Spiderverse for me.
I wish the producers would make a full movie out of Sonnies Edge, Beyond the Aquila Rift, Three Robots, etc
Secret wars too
I didnt watch the trailer for the show, so when i first saw sonnies edge i thought the series would continue like that, and i was pretty hyped tbh. Oh well the other way it turned out was even better
Secret war
Is the BEST
these three episodes are so great!
Or a game
There's nothing to indicate that the spider lady has captured, or feeds off the ships and their crews. If anything, pretty much everything points to the spider lady being a benign being, but just extremely alien by human standards
I agree. Saw a few reviews that saw the same thing this guy did....but only one review and your comment that saw things the way I did. The creature seemed to actually care about the “lost souls” (her/its’ own words) that we’re stuck there. Why else would she put the effort into creating a false reality for them or let them waste away like he was prior to feasting on them?? Seemed to me she was just trying to make their remaining time as comfortable as she could with the false realities....since due to the error/glitch, all those ships traveled so far away for so long that they’re screwed either way.
Greta is the hero we dont deserve but the one we need
@@twdjt6245 That was my take away too. I think it's because of everyone's pop culture knowledge, just because we see a monster with big fangs, the conclusion we go to is that it's going to eat them. I think this story was far more clever than that. I listened to the short story it's based on and Greta says something similar, that she places the lost souls in a simulation because they cannot cope with the reality of the situation and they would just waste away in horror. I watched it with a friend and his take away was that Greta may have been a part of a hive mind species. A abnormal creature living a lonely existence and that when the ship crashed in to her lair, she had no food or resources to physically help them and that the only way she could do was simulate a reality to make their passing at least bearable.
@@drakenfist couldnt of said it any better
I with u guys. As creeped out as i was, I didn't see any indication that the creature was feeding on the lost souls as she indicated. I also listened to the audio book and came to the same conclusion. Deff my favorite story. The creature design was awesomely creepy. Would hate to be in Toms shoes.
I wasnt expecting much from Zime Blue but i ended up loving it.
Same, one of my favs
Simple shapes and simple color patterns always will capture the mind just like everything else is beautiful but it's simple sometimes it takes the smallest thing to make a biggest Ripple in a pool of water to see a bigger picture.
It's the only episode in the series I hated actually. Thought the ending was stupid af
gabejbn do not think of this stupid but appreciate how simple and symbolic it is re-watch it again but this time watch how the episode flows into a massive painting of perception and illustrations.
@@TheZero092 I get that the episode is pretty but I think the symbolism is actually pretty weak. Was expecting something much more surprising but got a fucking pool cleaner gone android. I've watched it multiple times. Still the only one I can't take seriously
I really enjoyed the charm and light hearted ness of ‘Three Robots’
The yogurt episode was nice too. I needed the breather
@@pinkegg3179 Yeah the order of the episodes do have a nice flow to them
Three robots was really funny to me
5. "Dad!" from Secret war
4. Real reality reveal in Aquila rift
3. Frankie's (?) death in suits
2. "Every time I fight, I fight for my life" from Sonnie's edge
1. Zima's alegoric dismantle from Zima Blue
I agree!
Jake not Frankie :)

Good hunting is crazy cool, from ghost story to steampunk.
teguh pandirian yeah, this one is one of my favorites!
It deserves a whole movie tbh
@@julienthammavongsa5496 agree, it has potential to be a full length movie
Yeah....
@@egeg5428 a lot of the Love Death + Robots episodes have the potential of beings movies like the first episode that one could have been a full movie.
You're wrong about the alien in Aquila's Rift being evil and wanting to eat him or something. She's a being caring for all the lost beings that get sent to that junction by an FTL mistake never able to return. Thom is the first human, and she's trying to figure out a way to care for him without him going insane about being surrounded by nothing but strange aliens. It explains more in the original short story.
truth. also cause the bodies of the captain's crew members don't look eaten, but just dead or skeletons.
@@wallride2wallride The way the original guy's face is perceived is ageing and the woman who fights back dies a quicker death because she cannot handle the reality or at least I think so unless they've died naturally ageing through time. The whole mind trick thing is to keep himself from seeing the truth and works in the end but its interesting how others see it different, they leave most of these episodes very open to leave the viewer wanting more and finding ways to explain its happenings.
Exactly. Like why bother creating the false reality for them if she’s just going to eat them? And why let them waste away prior? She realizes that they’re so far from home that they’re all screwed either way so seems to me she does truly care for the “lost souls” and was just trying to make their time comfortable in the time they had left. What’s interesting to me is that all the reviews by males that I’ve seen assume the same thing this reviewer does....that she’s capturing them and eating them...whilst the only people so far I’ve seen or read from that see our way of things have been females......
Wonder if that is pure coincidence or if it has anything to do with the creature being hideous.
@@twdjt6245 ok bud let's not hijack this for your own agenda. Most people I talked to as agree the spider isnt evil in nature, the crew that wakes up was actually his brain letting him know something is wrong.
The fact she told him the truth when she didn't have to should be prove enough the nature of the the spider aliens.
When I watched this I am pretty sure, it was about illusion our lifes, for example everyone has some trouble in their life they are going through, however we choose to ignore the trauma or difficulties and live in a illusion of something greater.
@@twdjt6245 super interesting take, and I don't think it's part of any agenda to point out your observations. Maybe these guys are seeing Greta as a kind of succubus figure; seeing as she starts off sexy and seductive, then is revealed to be monstrous and the man she's been focusing her attention on is shown as having almost wasted away, so they're assuming that she must have been the cause of that. Whereas women are identifying with her having caring intentions despite her ugliness because we've all felt monstrous and been perceived as monstrous from time to time. I suppose it all comes down to how people are perceiving her telling 'white lies;' does her lying to protect his feelings/sanity indicate she's just a lying bitch in general with malevolent tendancies, or is she genuinely trying to do her best to help? Idk why I'm diving so deep with this 15 minute short but it was really fascinating and definitely the one that stuck with me the most!
Who else loved that brutal wolverine fatality in Sonnies Edge?
I like even more the sike at the ending...
the chicks head exploding was pretty gnarly too. haha
@@MrtinVarela that made me feel weird inside
I was able to feel the man's fear of death as she chomps on his head.
One of the most powerful moments for me was the twist at the end of sonnies edge... and the rest would be the same as your list tho
I didn’t really understand that twist, could you explain it? Was she the creature the whole time or something?
@@Floridaburg- yea she was and the human body was her vessel. Her edge was fear but in a very literal way of fighting for her life.
Joel Gomez oh that’s cool, this whole series was amazing
Sonnies edge was my favorite
funny is the fact, that even before the twist u can see the signs that sonny is inside her beast

And right before that, where you learn the young soldier is the commander's son who is begging to stay with his father until the end.
@@jordanloux3883 that made me tear.
Really sad but like the the rest of the episodes they feel odly flat and there isnt much new.
Felt the same way, a lot of them were pretty average with little to no depth in their stories.@@reviewreviews5908
@@jordanloux3883 I feel like that just shows how under developed they were. I mean, do the writers want me to care if they die? We don't know them at all, I felt more for the villagers at the start of it.
Thought the secret wars ending was quite powerful. Unpopular opinion but lucky 13 also was quite powerful aswell.
Lucky 13 is one of the better episodes, definitely underrated.
I've liked lucky 13. I needed something "lighter" in between the intense episodes. As in something not as dark and thought provoking, and just to enjoy some good old war actions.
NGL, in lucky 13 I was expecting the ship to reveal itself as sentient then proceed to devour the entire crew
I honestly think that the only reason Lucky 13 isn't on the list is because it didn't have a twist. But It's actually a very sweet story.
What do people like about Lucky 13 so much? Seems a very American thing to have strong attachment to a vehicle.
Secret War was my favorite... I wish it was in Russian, it would have been a 20/10
Aquila Rift was insane also. Lovecraftnian terror at its best.
I think Fish Night is a Fall of Icarus tale, he flies too high against the wiser man's yells and gets killed for it, becoming a ghost beforehand.
Riot breaker once he became one with the other ghost fish i wonder if he could've come back even if he hadn't been eaten by the shark
@@sevensixfour5838 I actually thought he just became a ghost and couldn't listen to the older man, following the theme of Icarus.
I've tried my best to find the book where I read this story close to 10yrs previously but I can't
As far I remember, the older salesman was unable to fly/swim with the fish because he had numerous man made things holding him to the earth (a metal rod in his wrist, a dental filling) while the younger had only the clothes which he shed. Once he was with the fish, he was in a realm not on this earth and thus lost all contact with the older man.

Found it!
The original story
I had an inkling they reversed the ages and I was right
'Good Hunting' was powerful to me when she finally turned into her (mecha) fox/kitsune form again and started hunting. :'3
one of my favorites, this episode had great world building as well, i was blown away at how it transforms into a steampunk story and the visuals loooked gorgeous
Good Hunting is amazing!
Ehhh I feel Zima blue was about more than fame, but rather humans seeking knowledge about our roll in the universe, and how this endless pursuit will not fulfill us, I.E. ignorance is bliss and we can't be happy if we are constantly seeking anwsers
Yeah a lot of these he got wrong honestly
Zima Blue has strong Flower for Algernon vibes to it.
Role
Mitter „got wrong“ lmao. How surprised you are that there are other opinions/interpretations as yours. Oh boy, you are going to have a bad time.
Yeah I agree, But not about our roles in the "universe", cause that is too grand. But I think "Zima Blue", is about stripping everything down to the basics, work everyday, and be mindless slaves to our jobs that we need too survive, and we don't question it, we do it till we die, but the pursuit of fame, riches, and creativity, is bad and will get us nowhere. The goals in this episode is told backwards to what everyone desires.
I actually think the symbolism in Fish Night is a lot deeper. For me, it symbolized the old man's journey as a sailor and how he lost a son or friend. Being salesman stranded at the desert is actually two sailors stuck at sea. Perhaps their "poor sales" lately was their poor catching of fish. And to take a break from the stress, the young man sees fish in the water and decides to take a swim, but is taken from a shark. At least that's what I thought of it.
Very good interpretation, you've made me watch the episode again to see what you mean
Your interpretation seems more accurate, but It reminded me of Daedelus and Icarus and how icarus fell to his death from flying too close to the sun despite his fathers warning that the wings that he made from feathers and wax would melt.
Amazing how you saw this, the fact that I interpreted it like the vid shows gives me a reason to watch most and this episode a few more times to see theories like this. Although a desert is practical in what you're saying maybe if it was more influential to sales but the same principles where their abilities/skills are useless would've added an extra layer but that would've taken the "fish motive" scene out which is unique to it's story. I just caught a simple but minor thing that may not or maybe useful is that his son is less experienced hence he angers out, wastes his energy while the old man as experienced is composed, calm, forgiving but also sharp enough to survive the "drought"
@@alpass72886 I had this same idea! Instead of flying too close to the sun, he swam too close to the moon. Instead of invading the gods' domain, he was invading the domain of the ghosts.
@@alpass72886 pretty accurate interpretation

Already wanted season 2 right after finished it lol
truly loved it along with aquila rift! Lucky 13 reminds me a lot of the oldy trust skyboard of Chopper at 2000ad's Judge Dredd Midnight surfer file !
Lucky 13 is my top 5 too it was the most touching for sure
For #1, The creature doesn’t feed off the crew. The story is taken straight out of a book. The creature is actually loving and benevolent and is putting them in a pleasurable virtual reality, because they can’t face the reality that they are stranded forever with no hope of rescue in an alien environment.
Tom’s muscles were wasted from not moving for years. Not from being fed on. Who knows how many times he’s been in and out of the false reality and can’t handle his true reality. Being in and out of hibernation without a functional pod has withered his body.
The creature is just so hideous that the moment clearly traumatized Tom, so the creature has to put him back into the false reality over and over again.
Suzy represents Tom’s subconscious mind. Every time she is awakened the subconscious instantly rejects the false reality.
If you go back and look at min 5:30 of that episode you can see the creatures true form through the bottle.
Maurice Mejia You’re right, I didn’t see the creature in the bottle until you mentioned it and I watched the episode like 5 times lol thanks!
Wait, through what bottle? Went back to that time I don’t see anything
Saw it. It’s brief tho

Yeah better yet make it into a series of its own
Arjoni Memko it’s a whole book, and the original book could easily be a feature length film
@@colefriel3171 no it isn't a whole book, it's just one short story, the book has the same name, but it was actually an antology from Alastair Reynolds, Zima Blue is also in the same book.
The original short story is very short, it could be made in a full length movie, but not in a series.
@@sal_20175 the original story doesn't have material for a full series, I'm not even sure if it has material for a whole full movie.
All i can say is that the ep would benefit from more 15 mim to flush out the story.
The original short has around 8 pages is a quick read that won't take more than a few minutes from anyone.
Good hunting was insane. The smoothest transition from fantasy to sci-fi, two polar opposite genres in less than fifteen minutes. Just insane
As I finished Zima Blue, I said out loud to myself, "That is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen."
Literally everything about it worked. The style, the animation, the voice acting, and a gorgeously melancholy and yet uplifting story. It was like the story itself was that shade of blue: capable of making you feel happy, but also a little sad, but ultimately at peace. It was not just a statement on satisfaction, but on the color blue itself.
Zima Blue and Beyond Aquila Rift are from the same author, Alastair Reynolds.
My fav episode is the secret war, the Music is great, it looks so Real and it gave me goosebumps when they made the last stand :D
To be honest 3 robots was the best in terms of simple storytelling, harsh truths, and unique point of view in this case a robots point of view simply fantastic
Dunno the Soviets fighting a horde seemed the most powerful and on top of that fought with shovels
Tom in Aquila Rift looks a lot like Hugh Jackman.
The main female character looked familiar to but can't place her............
@@KJ-pu8dw Charlize Theron
Where is the secret war? Ma boi mowed down like 200 monsters and even stabbed one with the barrel of the DP-28 and shot through it, after that he ran out of ammo so he whipped out his shovel and hack and slashed his way through the horde. Just a badass guy. Respect him. And why is it not here. I'm disappointed.
Don't get me wrong, "The Secret War" is my favourite (with "Beyond the Aquila Rift" and "Zima Blue"), but that wasn't really a strong moment. It was amazing and fun to watch, but it was just action really. Besides, the scene where the son wants to stay with his father is more heart touching. Or when they all decided to die proud with honor and then one guy just pulls tge trigger on himself, ehich shows how some of us often pretend to be strong, yet are weak and pathetic at times.
But I kinda agree with you, sad to not be able to see "The Secret War" in here.
@@danielllitpek2014 no. The last part "We stand here! We fight here! We die here!" After that line everything happened. Guns blazing and badassment. And the music where you saw everysingle brave soldier fighting for the motherland! Thats what I called powerful moment

beyond the aquila rift was insane, wish it was long like a movie.
Such a good episode!
In my opinion shape shifters would be in this list instead of a helping hand just because of the lengths a person would go to to avenge a friend's death
thank you!!
honestly tho
I thought Shapeshifters was the most bland and worst out of all. I could get nothing out of it. It felt like a fanfiction Call-of-duty cutscene.
The story and animation was cool, and I really liked that episode. Though it was nothing new, just someone avenging his lost friend, alot of shows/movies/anime cover this subject
I enjoyed how they portrait the prejudice they face by living among humans, but at the same time it left me a bit confused about why they were helping those men at all, the other werewolves were a rival faction? maybe i didn't pay attention but I've found their motivation strange.
Why does everyone assume the creature in the Aquila Rift is trying to "feed" off of the crew? I've noticed this pop up in several videos. It's obvious some people don't understand how space horror works. The "horror" isnt how creepy the creature is. It is the terrifying reality and utter hopelessness that the creature was trying to save them from that is true horror. Ugh. It makes me truly sad that this is how people are perceiving this episode.
The end of Sonnies Edge was amazing!
I hope if there's a second season it's as good as this one 🤔 I hope there's a second season😏
Same here!
I would that to happen but next time I would hope that they leave out the unnecessary amount of nudity. The episodes were too full of them and it would be awkward watching them afterwards with someone else. Also extremely ugly characters like from that dump episode are probably something to hate. I mean no one ever talks about that episode because lets be honest, it was extremely unpleasant looking but the rest was genius. Especially zima blue and aquila rift.
Baff0000 Yea the nudity was uncalled for a lot of times but it shouldn’t be awkward unless you’re watching it with your mom or something
@@Baff0000 I agree with you 100% on the nudity and could have done without so much of it😒 But it is advertised as "Adult Anime"🤔
Well it's not animations for kiddos or for watching with your family, nudity is part of that animation, when it comes to art and it's universe, the author may insert a naked person due to a purpose, could be for story, or reflection, something to add in that universe, or maybe nothing at all. Weird thing is how a work with episodes containing decapitations/carachters losing members, creatures in the deepest of horror lookings, gangbang sex, drugs and stuff, people only triggers themselves with nudity due potential taboos. Reflect about this guys, please.
Hey man I really like your content😁
This series was excellent never seen anything like it worth the watch
You should watch short films from OATS Studios, felt they were a part of LDR.
"IT HAS BEEN AN HONOR" УРА БРАТАН
I'm getting chills 🥴
Does anyone else think they should make a show out of Sonnie's edge
Hell yeah. I knew nothing going into this, so I thought it would be some monster-arena brawler series. Wouldn't mind that
I think the "wow" factor in this episode was the reveal that sonnie was actually the monster itself. I think going further on this concept will only make a bland, generic show about monsters fighting. The short duration, and that wtf moment, are in my opinion things which makes it good the way it is.
@@GiesbertsN How about not expanding on the story of Sonnie, but instead continueing on in that universe. Showing other "pilots" and their stories. How the monsters are made, etc. It feels like that universe has a whole lot more to give than just the initial message of fighting for dear life.
@@Kaeresh And to add to your point, they were fighing in a church, so how in the fuck they manage that? In that universe, religion is no more and only the churches remain or theres a power struggle between Cyberpunk gangs and religious ones? How they created those monsters? How does the link work? Is there an underground scene and pro monster scene? And if you could pass your consciousness to a monster, as in Sonnie's case, wheres the limit for our kind? A series will definitely be splendid.
I don't think you really got the end of aquila rift right. This spider creature doesn't feed of the stranded beings. Everyone including the protagonist look like they starved to death so the creature doesn't eat them. Or maybe it does but after they died. The creature really cares for the poor souls captured in that net. The creature keeps them inside a simulation to ease their death, by simulating them beeing around loved ones. What sense does it make to wait for the people to die and keep them in a simulation when the spider could just eat them right away? This episode is based of a short book with the same name and i believe in that short story it gets explained a little better.
That's what I thought too.but it is kinda open-ended.
@@busharmann well yeah of course but the creature really does care for the lost people, that's for sure.
It could be that she prolongs their life a little bit to feed off thier blood as long as she can. She's an arachnid after all. In order to keep them trapped there she keeps them simulated and being a psychic being knows how to hit the right string of humanity (likely other, maybe less or more emotional types of simulations are needed for different beings). She also might care for her food a bit as well.
@@jonnyace9198 if that was the case there isnt a need to interact with your food. Revealing the true and waking the captain up was unnecessary. But it was done due to the wishes of the captain, to me it shows a great deal of respect. The sort you dont show for enemies or food. The spider alien looked and felt like she was doing a mercy to the captain and other people caught up in the web.
Beyond the Aquila rift is definitely number 1. Ive watched it over 10 times
Beyond the Aquila rift is more, to me, a story about appearances being deceptive. The creature understands what is going on in the world around it. Thom does not. The creature has had to do this for possibly hundreds, if not thousands of different people and species...imagine being a hyper-intelligent, sentient creature, and being telepathic, imagine being bombarded by the fear, the anxiety, the doubt, the panic, and all the emotions that come with realizing you're stranded and that everyone and everything you love is long-since dead and gone, and that you were forgotten long ago...
Imagine being this creature, and watching other life-forms suffer and die in fear and sorrow...Imagine not wanting to see people suffer like this...imagine if you had the power to help them cope with it by changing their memories, helping them forget their sorrows, their agonies..imagine being able to show them a reality they will be comfortable with until the moment they die...
It takes a great deal of empathy to not want to see others suffer...the creature was a benevolent alien, who didn't want to see victims of hyperspacce accidents like that suffer needlessly, withering away in fear...It felt that to die in relative comfort was the only solution to an inescapable situation...
It comforted them, it fed them with memory, kept them from feeling hunger as they wasted away...it ccared a great deal for those whom had found themselves trapped in it's expanse...it was compassionate, and despite it's actual appearance, was benevolent and caring.
Looks can be deceiving in more ways than one..and sometimes, that's not at all a bad thing.
From my perspective, all the episodes had a certain real life meaning, for example, Beyond the Aquila Rift , it's more than just a crew caught in an alien spider's web in deep space, the whole episode represents everybody's real life struggle for truth about the world ,why we exist, and the fear of the unknown, for instance, mother Earth is our home which represents the spider. She gives us all the resources that keep us alive, but at the same time we are limited and cant seem to leave our personal "web" of space. As humans, we live in this "simulation" in which we created from our own minds that we call "life", work, religion, technology etc. knowing that in the end , slowly but surely,we all eventually parish never knowing our true purpose except to love one another. if we actually found out the truth of our own existance, we probably would still choose to live in the "simulation" , because it's safe and all we know.
I disagree, there is no other alternative to earth, it's just earth, we were born to live, love, and die happy. It was our spawn,, and there are some really shitty things that happen on earth and some things people are born into problems that they can't control like birth defects. So to say that we're in a simulation and are secretly living worst is blasphemy imo. People always ask why do we exist, rather than what can I do with my existence to be happy? And not worry about why, rather than how. The purpose of life is to make a purpose, I personally feel like the alien was more of a hospice nurse like someone else said who takes care of a patient with a confronting world with little to no problems, that's not true life and not even close to living on earth.
Had a little mistake in there but it's fine lol.
@@justalegendb Your mistake was that you clearly didnt understand that I use "simulation" figuratively, meaning not in a literal sense; a metaphor, to describe the world we live in and how we made it to fit our own needs. Hence the quotation marks... I believe in God and the Devil, but it's not blasphemy to know that we created and are separated by religion, work for each other for money, worship technology as a means to distract us. We aren't truly free to live, it all has a cost..Btw there's nothing wrong being born with a birth defect, I know plenty of people who were born different and they live their lives better than a lot of others...Yes, people can make their own purpose, but that doesnt change the fact that we have limits purposely put on us to hold us back just to attain a bit of happiness. I never said anything about living the worst.. nor do I think that. I did pretty much say that everybody has this innate desire for knowledge and fear of the unknown, which follows all of us until the day we die. The only true purpose we know is to love one another until our inevitable end. Earth is a nurse ,we are all her patients, she nurtures, provides for us so we may live, yet we use up all her resources, with the ultimate goal of leaving her to find a new world to call home, because if we stay, we perish.
@@seerspace2292 I respect your opinion man, but it just seems extremely negative and unnecessary, We need money, we need limits because without limits, there is no balance in the world. But it is still possible to overcome those limits without breaking them, we live life not only to love, but to laugh, push ourselves, accomplish our goals, and to make peace with the world and ourselves before fading away. I meant a severe birth defect like massive permanent brain damage or being paralyzed from the neck down and having no one to support you. I never said I don't believe in a religion, just a different kind, I believe when you pass away you get a choice, I don't even know why we're giving ourselves headaches over this, just enjoy yourself with the time you have lol.
@@justalegendb I dont mean to seem negative, I completely respect your thoughts and beliefs as well, i rather enjoy conversation such as this. Trust me I totally enjoy life and like hearing other peoples world views. From my point of view money, for example, is one of those "simulations" we created, what is money besides a bank note that has complete control over our lives, we use it, work for it, all the way until we leave this world, just to have our future generations do the same, I do not wish it upon anyone, I want the lives after us to know true freedom, we dont need money for that to be happy, we can do all you said without it and still evolve. These man-made limits were set in place to control the world and its inhabitants. The Earth existed and thrived eons before us, then we slowly started degrading it, if there was really balance on this world we made, how come we're not at peace with each other as a whole, working as one? How is it that we're so disconnected ? It's because it's unbalanced. The universe itself was created out of chaos, and is in fact chaotic, yet it's able to balance itself out to become peaceful, it's limitless. I dont know why either but it intrigues me, glad to have had a civil conversation, I'm going to stop now. Have a good one. Peace friend.
Zima blue is the most powerful one for me.
Aquatic rumba
spray painting the asterioid belt made me LMAO
Why didn't Good Hunting make it?
I think the most people who watched the episode didn't relise the comparison to our world and the one in good hunting.
@@k0ku365 Given the falocentric world we live in, i believe the same. For me, good hunting is actually one of the if not the strongest episode on the series
@@lautaroblanco3514 "We can take them up to the mountain, but we aren't allowed to stay" is very good.
Sonies edge and aquila rift shares the 1.st place
2.nd is zimma blue
3.rd secret war
4.th suits
Yeah in YOUR opinion maybe.
Cihat keles..SUITS..those bugs are gonna get them eventually
Zima blue was probably the worst one
@@killerlegacy8584 it was the most mature one, i didnt associate it whith money and fame, i am 20 years old and whenever i think about that i miss the good old days, when things where simplier, whithout smartphones, university familiars dying because of their age and i dont mean we gotta be attach to the past, what i mean is that we must value or present because sooner than expected it will be our past and you gotta admit the aesthetics of the episode were really interesting

Love Death and Robots > Black mirror
michael barlow eh its kinda hard to decide but I see where your coming from
They're two different things
Definitely, LD+R has more creativity and variety.
Personally I like Black Mirror more, but I think it’s all about taste and what you’re looking for in a sci-fi anthology. Black Mirror as a show has one big message about one thing, while LD+R has more things it can showcase. I think the stories in Black Mirror are also a lot more realistic, which can give a more personal and gut wrenching story which the show is now infamous to bring. On the other hand LD+R is a lot more about being extremely flavorful in a shorter amount of time, they each have their strengths and weaknesses. Think of the difference as Black Mirror being a sword to the stomach, and LD+R being a shotgun to the face. Pick your poison :)
Dream on. I loved this series and admired all the work and skill that went into the animation/cgi, but nothing (as of yet) imo beats black mirror as far as this type of media goes....except for the bandersnatch interactive black mirror episode.....that was pretty underwhelming (though I applaud them still for the creativity/originality )
i agree, but would add a 6th moment and call it sacrifice. I'm talking about the last episode secret war. this episode is not just visual stunning, with one of the best cgi i saw, but it also has a awesome story. Outnumbered and helpless these Soldiers sacrifice there lives to fight an Enemy There superior created and nobody will ever now about it. The fact that you can trasport so much story and emotions in these short films blew me away.
Shows like this and Black Mirror are amazing👌🏾👌🏾
Er.... The last one... you're kind of wrong about. The creature isn't feeding on them. It's benign, at least, in the original short story
There was a short story? huh.
Well, in the animation it's properly shown how it's sad, and desires for the happiness of those it takes care of.
@@cyryl3827 Yes, hence it being benign. These poor ships get shot INTO it's... "nest". It feeds them that false world to try and make the reveal easier after enough time, so they won't freak out like the girl did. Freaking out in a state like that probably leads to a heart attack. which probably killed her. So it cares for them, making what time they have left comfortable at least. It looks horrifying, and because of that a lot of people think it's sinister... when it's really got the best intentions.
Actually the greatest moment in the series was Hitler getting killed by fornication.
The Fish Night episode reminds me a lot of the tale of Icarus and his father Daedalus.
Damn ur right
I thought so too!
After seeing so many other list from other people on the first season of Love, Death & Robot, your list by far falls more in line with how I took the different episodes of the show. Your list is on top of my list. 👏🏾👏🏾
Great video! The most powerful scene for me is in "Secret War" when the bombers come over the tree line decimating the monsters with the soundtrack of the lute played by the captain’s son, showing that he (and everyone) completed their mission. Chills every time.
Thanks, i'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Why do so many people misunderstand Aquila Rift? A major plot point is that she's benign, but that her "victims" cant look past the visuals. Then this video commits the same error and jumps to "evil alien" conclusion despite all the indications towards her being benevolent.
that's not how a spider oparate. telling you that everything is fine and that she only want you good is actually quite common in an abusive (and toxic) relationship.
so my point of view is that the spider is a vilain and she disgn a space web to trap space ship.
this is not a samaritin story sry.
the only indication of her being good is her word and they are lies wake up people.
you would stand still from a "don't be scared" and then get eaten alive by a monster alien good job on non biais inter-species tolerance.
@@giogiolachance4313 Nice straw man. The episode clearly went over your head.
Have you ever heard of Stockholm syndrome ?
@@giogiolachance4313 It isn't a spider though...
Not gonna count The Secret War? It literally shows a fight of sacrifice for a greater good.
I only just heard about this over this past weekend, and I've never missed my net connection more than now. This is brilliant stuff!!
This is so far TOP 5 best things I've come across this year. WHY ISN'T THIS GETTING A BIGGER BUZZ IN MEDIA?
Is it me or have I watched this show before??? I watched some of the most recent episodes and it felt like I watched them before.
I don't even think the creature in Aquila Rift is evil or bad.
Just because it looks creepy?
Why should she (or it) show him the reality if it only wants to feed on them in some kind.
I think she really wants to help them because she knows there is no way in returning home.
You don't know how often he already has woken up in that strange place.
Maybe what she is doing, is giving them some kind of palliative care.
@Solve Everything its not a spider tho. its a space alien creature. also why would it voluntarily remove the "sedation" from its "prey". i think it was was unable to help the crew in any way and therefore kept them happy till they eventually died of starvation.
I haven’t watched the series in about 6-8 months. Every once in a while I just think about a random episode and am reminded of the series magnificence. Subbing. Great video!
In my personal opinion everybody gets the intention of the spiderlike creature in "beyond the aquila rift" wrong. I deduce this from Petra's tormented expression greeting Tom for a second or even third time, knowing that Tom will never find peace where he now is, without another single person only accompanied by a creature that scares him to death. I think Spiderpetra does not do this because it/she feeds off the bodies of the stranded but rather tries to ease their pain, using her powers to play them what makes them happy thus making the fact that she is stranded there as well a bit more bearable.
This is not the story of a man and his crew trapped in an evil bloodsucking aliens web but the story of a highly intelligent and empathetical being, lost in grief and just trying to ease the hopeless situation of being lost and damned to die alone for itself and those who suffer the same fate.
Personaly, I prefer "The Witness" on all other episodes because of the look and style of animation. It was so impressive and futuristic looking that I watched it three times in one go. The animation of the characters and the look on their faces were so powerful. The textures, the city... all.
yeah it was a pretty great episode but unfortunately for me it let itself down by not creating a living and breathing world, it felt kind of empty not like real Hong Kong.
Y’all just want to see those anime tiddes
@@duchyrawh No, but let me add one more reason why I like this episode. The shake of the butt and tits of the girl feels realistic, not plastic. And I know that's not so easy to bring that look onto a CG character.
Beyond the Aquila Rift and Zima Blue are both short stories written by the same author.
The entirety of "The Witness" is the most powerful moment.
That space spider in EP.7 is not a predator but a merciful mother like creature, she's only trying to comfort those lost souls trapped here, why go extra miles to weave a sweet dream for your victims? The space Mother Mary's statue appeared in this episode is a very strong symbol of her and what she's doing.
This show was amazing the story really got me love death and sorrow amazing plot I love every minute of it
My favorite episodes in no particular order:-
Secret War
Beyond the Aquila Rift
Good Hunting
Zima Blue
Sonnie's Edge
I also really liked the werewolf fight scene in shapeshifters.Iy was soo lifelike and brutal.Best werewolf scene in my opinion.Underworld could learn a thing or two from this.
damn man powerful indeed, I'ts actually REPLENISHING to watch this. great vid
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video!
If you've read the book for Beyond the Aquila rift, you'll have a different perspective of the alien creature. Us humans think that anything looks scary is presume bad, however, the alien was just trying to help the human die in peace rather than see the horrible place in which they have no way of surviving.
why do so many miss this? She never says that she's feeding on them but that she cares for them!
The Secret War and the military werewolf one are my favorites
Zima blue is criminaly underrated
I don't think its being underrated, I see a lot of people saying its one of the best, its definitely top 3 for me.
he does remember everything at end of Aquila Rift. He was show. The actual reality and when he disliked it, decided it was better to live in a fake reality, and that’s why when the blonde girl comes out again they say hello faster, like they already know each other well but they’re pretending to be clueless. They’re going along with the game
I feel like the real reason in zema blue besides not being happy is he also just knew to much after making himself a super computer and loved the simple life of being blind and just being a pool cleaning robot
I still barely understand fish night
But it's the still the most powerful for me because I don't understand it - It's so colorful, and the music is just amazing
I feel something from it, and it's great for interpretation.
I thought it was about finding joy in life outside of sales and work. The car broke down and the men found themselves actually able to take a moment and enjoy the calm. But then the son commits suicide by jumping off a cliff due to the pressures of work. Then the dad mourns his son at that location each year, as his son is just a ghost now.
I felt like Aquila Rift was a benign version of Event Horizon.
It's just an alien, nobody say that aliens despite their horrific appearance couldn't be nice.
what type of animation style or genera is The Witness? I have seen another short film like this cut can't remember the name. does anyone know any other short film of videos with this style of animation?
I definitely have a werewolf fetish, but I loved Shape-Shifters of how 1) they portrayed them as ordinary soldiers, just definitely beefed up (little armor, no weapons or shoes) and 2) how supernatural creatures, if real and attempted to coexist with humans, would be treated in society and what roles they would fill.
The alien doesnt feed on the crews or the ships. The alien is stuck there just like they are but it basically tends to people till they die. Like a caretaker.
I don't think so... Definitely she's feeding on them, she's got her web all over the ship...besides she's in space, on what she'll feed on if not on them...she seems an organic creature not robotic, so she's gotta eat
A creatures were walking in all directions, not being able to see the bigger picture of what the world looks like due to there lack of eyes and mind. They just knew one thing, killing and eating. A dark creatures, from a nightmare but unlike a dream they were very much real. One of them walked slowly holding a man's arm in it's mouth, griping it tightly. A sound was hear in a distance, surrending the nightmarish creature and it's fellow brothers. They looked up unable to see what was happening, just being able to hear a strong sound coming from plains. Boy stayed alive, he deliverd a message to HQ. Bombs start falling like rain from heaven, cleaning the holy lands of mother Russia from the unholy creatures.
One by one, bombs made contact with ground and exploded killing everything that was around it. Sensing the danger, creatures start to run but with no use...
Whole area was wiped and anything that was there was turned to Ash.
Tell me secret wars (18th ep) wasn't good?
its sooo good. just glad to see ppl talking abt this
NICE ONE BRO
makes me wanna see them all again
I feel like I could watch them all again and then start the cycle again! There’s so many. Perfect show to stand the test of time because of the powerful messaging and nature of the digestible format.
oofda... 'Helping Hand' ... I knew what was coming next... but that didn't make things any easier.
Watched it all in a row, kinda wish the whole series was about the story from 1st or 2nd episode
The insane part is everyone experience a different ending for all these films
Secret war was so good, I had to watch the final battle ten times over, and the part where the young soldier is begging to stay and fight with his father, I felt that shit.
zima blue and beyond the aquila rift was written by the critically acclaimed sci fi author Alaistar Reynolds. i mean ofc it's powerful :)
I feel like these were slightly too obvious, there are much deeper meanings in other episodes and I personally found 'Fish Night' to be one of the most powerful.
The ending of Good Hunting was the most moving moment for me. That transformation scene brought me to tears.
5:50 Yep, no shit! This part blow my mind! Nice music by the way.
this is the third video i've seen about the series and it's cofusing to me how wrong it's been take the "beyon the aquila's rift" ending, from the alien motivations to the reason that the ships got there.
Lucky 13 not wanting to blow up at first
No, it wasn't about not "wanting" to blow up. It was about blowing up at the right TIME, and the ship saving her pilot and the crew, thus "finishing" the mission.
Notice the self destruct was willfully delayed until the enemy had taken up firing positions all over Lucky 13, thinking she would provide them with cover.
Which she did.
With blood.
Their own.
13 waited to go boomsy until it would do the most good and cause the most harm.
Exactly the way any warrior would choose to die for their cause.
For me, EVERY SINGLE ENDING (besides the season finale) had an EXTREMELY POWERFUL ending and I can't choose a favorite or more powerful. Each episode resonated with me and I am dying for a SEASON 2
The animations in all these were so good
Why is pop culture obsessed with POWERFUL CATS now??? Its in a couple episodes of LD+R plus recently on Captain Marvel....
Yeahh, that's what I'm thinking too
Illuminati
Cats are the future
What about the sex ?
Cats have always been a creature of worship. Time may change, but old habits are hard to kick.
The witness was mint I just liked the way they created the world they was living in just modern ish and a broke gritty city
Cinematography
As much as I love and agree with this list, I believe the message at the end of the first episode is also extremely important, the message being never believe you will get away with whatever evil deed you plan to carry out and it also shows that one shouldn't believe everything is always as it seems
The spider/alien isn't feeding on him. It's not bad. It's just doing what it can to help these already doomed pilots. But he can't see past how frightening it looks and the hopless situation situation he's in. So he freaks out, rejects reality and has a full on fit, so the alien takes pity on him and sticks him back in the dream world.
