Honestly I waited over a year for the 2nd volume and I was incredibly disappointed. Neither as many nor as long of episodes as the first, and not nearly as good. It took over a year and this is what they came up with?
They need to make a show out of Pop Squad. Beautiful look at human nature and darker than most of these edgy shows. I would love to see more of this has huge Blade Runner vibes to me.
YES bro he is literally a blade runner but instead of killing replicants, hes killing children. Also the scene at the end where hes looking up at the sky when its raining gave me heavy tears in the rain speech vibes.
personally I felt like this was better than season one, the obvious flaw being that it was shorter but the MASSIVE plus being that literally every episode was a banger. Only one I wasn't a huge fan of was the drowned giant, and even that didn't feel bad, just mid. Season 1 had a lot of content, but a good portion of the episodes I just forget anymore
@@boreddude3898 I disagree, this season for me only had 3 memorable eps. Whilst season 1 had Aquila rift, Sonnie's edge, Good hunting, Secret war, The witness, Shape shifters and Zima blue. I feel like they split S2 into two parts hence why we are getting a S3 in 2022.

I totally agree with wishing some were longer. Some could easily be one hour long but I guess that’s the beauty of this show. They can say exactly what a feature can say but in 7 minutes!
The Tall Grass in my opinion tapped into the fear of being left behind, I felt anxious when the conductor had yelled out twice like he said, then you could hear the train start later on and I was worried for the guy. That conductor was a badass as well going to save one of his passengers, what a legend.
I don't think so. I think he was injured but because he was modified he healed that fast, and his brother realizing that had to come to terms with and just accept that he is different.

@@KZ-lo9gf It's very much inspired by that. It's probably intended to be a "reversal" of Blade Runner. Humans are "retiring" children and babies to control the population, instead of Replicants "retiring" older replicant models. The society sees kids the same way Blade Runner society looks upon replicants. They're simply creations to be removed if they no longer serve a purpose or if they hinder society.
The issue with this season is there is very little depth. I wasn't left thinking or feeling anything deeply after finishing these episodes, unlike season 1.
Yes, I feel like it is less interesting than the first season, yes I enjoyed it, the depiction of Santa was my favourite, and the kid asked the same question that I asked, I really enjoyed it, it had me thinking, that Snow in Desert was also enjoyable. But overall it did not give me the feeling I was waiting for, maybe it is because I set the bar high for my expectations
@@jaythelap6089 I think there was also a lack of creativity in this season. I wasn't particularly shocked by any of the twists, story beats were predictable. Perhaps you are right and my expectations were just too high after season 1. I think the story about the society that's immortal was the best. Kind of reminded me of Darling in the Franxx.
I think a key point you missed from Pop Squad was the question of how far will we allow a society to dictate our own sense of morality. His literal job was to arrest unsanctioned parents and terminate their offspring.

It's part of a huge series of books by Neal Asher, the Polity Universe. Though this is a short story set there, I was geeking out seeing it brought to life.

@@chelrok8764 You could be onto something there, but I personally doubt the small town of Ipswich could afford product placement but who knows maybe some of the people on the LD&R team have connections to the historic town. My interpretation/theory is that Pop Squad is based in the UK but obviously thousands of years into the future. I didn't think this when I first watched it, but The Drowned Giant is explicitly based in the UK and as they both have a shop named after a British town this could imply that both episodes are based in the same place but in extremely different time periods, especially as in Pop Squad the shop was in the lower city. Like potentially it could be the exact same store? I'm not sure if this is just a stretch; it would be interesting to see what other people think. I personally think that interpreting both episodes as having the same shop but in different time periods adds a cool spin / new dimension onto both of the episodes. But it could just be a pointless easter egg to entertain eagle eyed viewers or people re-binging the series or it could just be product placement. The way the show allows us to come up with unique interpretations and deeper meanings is one of reasons I love it so much. Edit: I just thought about the accents in Pop Squad, I feel like it could still be the same place because globalisation could be extreme in the future and the city is like a melting pot for multiple cultures/accents so even with the American accents it could still be based in the same place in the UK as The Drowned Giant.

ya, the extremely monotone ending of season 2, "the drowned giant", which had 0 stakes and no interesting questions outside of "whered the giant come from and what happened to it" which the episode practically ignores didnt help either. Its just a forgettable episode in the end. people loved the tension and the exploration of deep mysteries the most in love death and robots and "the drowned giant" just has non of that. too many of the other episodes also dont have enough time dedicated to them to properly build the story and tension without ending as soon as you built some kind of interest in the story. overall, season 2 was clearly made with more constraints than season 1.
@@solrhopalocera5704 i disagree completely, this show dives into other genre's other than just action and tension, and the drowned giant is another example of this. It doesn't need to have "stakes" to be good. This was a slow paced, thought provoking episode which dives into human ignorance and the fast culture that we live by in my opinion. It had a calm sadness as it reflected humans taking a historical moment like this and treating it like just another beached whale decaying away and scavenged for parts until we simply forget and move on in the blink of an eye. I also saw it fitting as the last episode of the season because it seems like a metaphor for LDR the show itself. A different show like this arrives, and we're enticed, interested, excited (like when the first see the giant). Some ignore the depths of what's in front of them while they just consume at surface level for action shorts (people climbing and playing on the giant ), while others are examining it's meaning and subtleties. Only for it to be broken down, trampled, and quickly forgotten by some, but will resonate forever with others.
@@Warcheiftan Your overcomplicating these terms man, an alien is a foreign being from a foreign place, a cyborg is a human with more machine parts (like Victor Stone from DC comics) and a synthetic is a broad term used in sci-fi to either describe a robot or something not organic. A humanoid is a form, like a demon in humanoid form or a doll in humanoid form. At the end of the story it's about two beings who are not quite human who find a connection, a cyborg and a mutant.
My favourite was "Snow in the Desert". Didn't have a deep meaning to it but loved the idea of it. On top of the action and how beautiful it looked. These short films need to be made into movies. There's so much potential from both season 1 and 2. It frustrated me how short the second season was.
I'm not usually a fan of the eps with realistic cgi but this was so well thought out...the camera work ( if I can name it like that ) was really satisfying and I loved the characters

The Flashbacks in Life Hutch were quite unnecessary. Felt like filler. Also the woman from "Snow in the Desert" was the same actress like in season 1 (the crew-member from "Beyond the Aquila Rift")
I also was but only cause I really like the amount of episodes in season 1, even if some are crappier episodes than others it was the sheer amount of them that got you excited, this was what maybe 1 hour if your lucky?
Kinda disappointed there were only 8 episodes, especially considering season 1 had 10 more and almost every single one of them was amazing (except for one or two)
I felt this season was more consistent than the first. With fewer episodes, all that were better than the worst of the previous season. There were no bad episodes unlike the first season with "Alternate Histories", "The Dump" and "Blindspot". Also, I feel if you were to compare the 8 best episodes from season 1 with the 8 episodes of season 2, season 1 would have better episodes but season 2 with have more consistently good episodes. It's hard to say which season is better. Season 1 with it's high highs; better than anything in season 2, and it's low lows; also worse than anything in season 2.
i also felt like every ep of season 2 was pretty mediocre if not out right bad, two of the new seasons ep have the same plot, the Tall Grass was just a rip off of the film In the Tall Grass. Alternate Histories and The Dump were both more fun than Automatic Customer Service. the only ep that really were ok for me were the Christmas ep and Snow in the Desert, but even they didn't come close to half of the ones in season 1. I think they listened to the wrong critics when they when in to making the second season, twists, sex and violence is what made the first season so exiting, they stripped that all back in season 2
Pop squad has the best plot, but it was too short. All episodes are too short like 4-9 mins! In season 1 I remember they were much longer. So for me, 1. Pop squad 2. ice 3. All through the house
My top 3 is All though the house, pop squad and the drowned giant... The first one is just me being very biased with the twist of this thing that gives presents and I loved how they finished the episode with the question, what if...?. The second one is because that utopian world is a new way to think things, makes you think that time is meaningless when you have infinite and how small things make us appreciate that time... Lastly the drowned giant... I loved how it portrayed how dehumanized people can be, it was very heartbroking to see how the people started to play with a corspe and also makes you think that memories can last by little symbols, like the bones in the houses and stores... Pretty good season, but only 8 episodes with that lenght, give me at least 12 lol
This is in a lot of ways a continuation of the Heavy Metal series so when it came to season two, I thought Drowned Giant was pretentious and No female nudity and muted female sexual expression in other episodes combined with the prolonged male nudity in drowned giant made me hate the episode, really let down as a fan of the series in that episode.
Life Hutch was truly the worst of the lot. A build up which added up to absolutely nothing. Could’ve added a twist of him being an alien infiltrator or something, prompting the attack of the bot. Literally ANYTHING would be better than the conclusion we got.

You can disagree all that you want but sentiment will largely be that this was a failed season, the mass will not be happy. the few like yourself sure you might have been satisfied with the 2 year wait for this, but I was not.
There was barely like any twists in this season or like lesson or in depth stories. The only episode that I REALLY liked was all through the house. The one I wish was fleshed out more was pop squad like maybe it ended off with him taking the family and helping them becoming a wanted man or something like that. Life hutch had such great animation and that was it. It was like a section of a movie that was cut out.
I’m shocked to hear people don’t seem to like season 2, I watched it all in one sitting and fuckin loved it. Pop squad, ice, tall grass and the drowned giant were pretty amazing and really got me thinking. I liked snow in the desert as well although it was a little more straightforward. I think the issue is that people expected to be as blown away as the first season, but it’s hard to replicate that experience when fans are expecting it the second time around
Aren’t the studios/artists the same ones that did season 1? The art style certainly suggests it (didn’t watch the credits, had to zip to the next Episode 😋)
No it's good, and technologically-wise impeccable, but compared to the first anthology, it definitely feels more bland and safe. Hell, there's just one sexy scene in the season and they... crossfade from it! You can _feel_ the creators being leashed and reeled back by the execs. Almost no experimentations, no cheeky vulgarity, and just one 2D animated short.

After some thought about how the giant episode could be percieved as the beauty of death and how the things you do in life are still left behind and seen by many the episode did go up on my list and might be my favorite, honestly i did not really get tall grass at all, maybe I missed something but it just didn't really get me thinking about much. Pop squad was great too. It's just I felt like the 1st season hit hard with some wow moments a lot of the time, and this one didn't really do that at all. It left more questions by the end without really answering any of them and i feel like most of the episodes ended right when i was really getting hooked in, but maybe that's what they were going for?
Fun fact in the episode “ice” the brother actually lied about his leg injury to make his older brother seem cool to all his friends in the ending when the friends takes the brother hat the modded brother gets it back for him landing on his leg that was so called “injured”
I interpreted that scene as the younger brother healing faster...but looking at this point of view, this fits better. The older brother felt disappointed but then realised how sweet it was of him to do that, and accepts that they are different from each other.

In my opinion, the animation styles and the concept for all the episodes are amazing. I can’t really say the same for the plots. They were in my opinion, extremely underdeveloped and unsatisfactory. My favourite has to be Pop Squad as I really liked the dystopia designs.
In the Christmas episode I think it would have been cool if at the end it panned out and a showed a family that weren’t good and they had been massacred in their home.

Drowned Giant - Victorian-era prose didn't fit the setting. 4. Pop Squad - Equilibrium/Blade Runner but babies. 3. Automated Customer Service - 100% Fun. 2. Snow In The Desert - I want more from this universe. 1. All Around The House - Stop motion style anti-Krampus. Perfect.
My favorites were Pop Squad and All Through The House, though i can't pick a third yet. TBH i was mostly underwhelmed with the series as a whole, but i think that was entirely because i was looking for another Zima Blue. Even after two years, that episode still stays with me.
You made a small mistake with Ice, the modded brother is actually the younger brother, so the older brother "saves" him. The modded bro faked his foot injury to give his older brother a much needed confidence boost.
Pop Squad was fine story wise but I couldn't get over how jarring the the one Asian woman looked compared to everyone else. The entire cast was based in realism while she was the only one given inhuman features. NO ONE else was stylized in that way
So for Snow in the Dessert. You didn't mention this at all, even though it was brought up. The women is not synthetic, they literally have a conversation and she explains that she had an accident and that she was born human. She still has mostly a human brain despite mainly being synthetic. So she is more akin to a cyborg. Just saying she is synthetic in the video implies she is purely an AI/Synthetic life which is simply not true. She is human with synthetic parts.
İ didn't like this season. The stories had very little depth and felt like they were cut in the middle. If this is the direction they are taking, this show wont be much good anymore. İt was not worth the wait

Ice, pop squad, Snow in the desert, the drowned giant was acceptable but still not like season 1. But the other episodes didn't hit me man. 😑 Season 1 is transcendent and fire. Death is inevitable and very dark and gore. It's all missing in vol 2. Except 3rd and 4th episode. These two episodes still gives half the vibe of season 1
"Snow in the Desert" and "Pop Squad" are by far the best new episodes. "Automated Customer Service" was funny too. Every episode had great animation. Except maybe "All Through the House". I wish they were generally longer

I still loved this season to be honest. Everyone's comparing it to the last season but we need to be looking at the volumes as just stand alone episode, analysing them as their episodes rather than the season as a whole.
To me ICE was the weakest episode, because of the squandered opportunity. It had fantastic art style, world building and lore. However, it didn't use any of that, and told a very generic story about teenage angst that we have seen a thousand times.
S2 was good overall, Pop squad and Ice stood out for me. Not as strong as S1 tho when you compare Aquila rift, Sonnie's edge, Good hunting, Secret war, The witness, Shape shifters and Zima blue. Seems like they split S2 since we getting S3 next year.
This season of LD&R was amazing. The Drowned Giant really surprised me. When it was over my very first thought was, 'What the heck did I just watch?' But then, after some thought, it hit me just how significant of an episode it was. My favorite of this season has to go to Pop Squad. The art style and quality of the cgi was insane. And the story... wow. Easily my favorite of the season.
S2 had too many photo realistic episodes...which were cool...but it lacked the stylistic 2d episodes that S1 had... the brothers with the Whales was the only episode that wasn't heavy photo-real 3d
Ice was my favorite, I really need more of Robert valley’s art style. Out of all the episodes i felt like Ice had the most potential to become a series.
I guess you missed the part in Ice where it is revealed in the end that the little brother (the modded one) actually prentended to have been hurt so that his big brother (the extro) would save him. Thus, giving him the chance to prove himself and be accepted by his modded friends.

I won't lie, I ended up being quite disappointed with S2. I don't think it was bad but it lacked the wow factor of S1. I think this is down to the fact that the endings felt quite unsatisfying. Because these are short films, the ending really needs to have an impact for you to really remember the episode. S1 had the creepy reveal of Beyond The Aquila Rift, the beautiful ending of Zima Blue, the interesting twist of The Witness, the humorous surprise of Three Robots and the shocking revelation of Sonnies Edge. Most episodes had this ending that really stuck with you and created a lasting impression of the series. Without these endings, S2 just feels less interesting than season 1.
In my opinion Ice and the Santa one were pretty lame. With ice the whales were cool but I feel like it heavily relied on swearing and I just got confused on what’s going on. With the Santa one I felt underwhelmed it’s just the typical ‘Santa isn’t what you think he is’ plot. I feel like they could’ve at least showed a different house who was on the ‘naughty’ list
I just couldn't understand why the conductor didn't give the passenger a MUCH stronger warning to not get off the train. At the end when the passenger found out the conductor knew I thought he was gonna throw a fit.
Yea that episode was my worst for its predictability and cliché tropes, though it had beautiful art. I much preferred the silliness of Automated Customer Service

@@KZ-lo9gf It's very much inspired by that. It's probably intended to be a "reversal" of Blade Runner. Humans are "retiring" children and babies to control the population, instead of Replicants "retiring" older replicant models.
The society sees kids the same way Blade Runner society looks upon replicants. They're simply creations to be removed if they no longer serve a purpose or if they hinder society.
The issue with this season is there is very little depth. I wasn't left thinking or feeling anything deeply after finishing these episodes, unlike season 1.
Yes, I feel like it is less interesting than the first season, yes I enjoyed it, the depiction of Santa was my favourite, and the kid asked the same question that I asked, I really enjoyed it, it had me thinking, that Snow in Desert was also enjoyable. But overall it did not give me the feeling I was waiting for, maybe it is because I set the bar high for my expectations

I think the story about the society that's immortal was the best. Kind of reminded me of Darling in the Franxx.

@@chelrok8764 You could be onto something there, but I personally doubt the small town of Ipswich could afford product placement but who knows maybe some of the people on the LD&R team have connections to the historic town. My interpretation/theory is that Pop Squad is based in the UK but obviously thousands of years into the future. I didn't think this when I first watched it, but The Drowned Giant is explicitly based in the UK and as they both have a shop named after a British town this could imply that both episodes are based in the same place but in extremely different time periods, especially as in Pop Squad the shop was in the lower city. Like potentially it could be the exact same store? I'm not sure if this is just a stretch; it would be interesting to see what other people think. I personally think that interpreting both episodes as having the same shop but in different time periods adds a cool spin / new dimension onto both of the episodes. But it could just be a pointless easter egg to entertain eagle eyed viewers or people re-binging the series or it could just be product placement. The way the show allows us to come up with unique interpretations and deeper meanings is one of reasons I love it so much.
Edit: I just thought about the accents in Pop Squad, I feel like it could still be the same place because globalisation could be extreme in the future and the city is like a melting pot for multiple cultures/accents so even with the American accents it could still be based in the same place in the UK as The Drowned Giant.

ya, the extremely monotone ending of season 2, "the drowned giant", which had 0 stakes and no interesting questions outside of "whered the giant come from and what happened to it" which the episode practically ignores didnt help either. Its just a forgettable episode in the end. people loved the tension and the exploration of deep mysteries the most in love death and robots and "the drowned giant" just has non of that.
too many of the other episodes also dont have enough time dedicated to them to properly build the story and tension without ending as soon as you built some kind of interest in the story.
overall, season 2 was clearly made with more constraints than season 1.
@@solrhopalocera5704 i disagree completely, this show dives into other genre's other than just action and tension, and the drowned giant is another example of this. It doesn't need to have "stakes" to be good. This was a slow paced, thought provoking episode which dives into human ignorance and the fast culture that we live by in my opinion. It had a calm sadness as it reflected humans taking a historical moment like this and treating it like just another beached whale decaying away and scavenged for parts until we simply forget and move on in the blink of an eye.
I also saw it fitting as the last episode of the season because it seems like a metaphor for LDR the show itself. A different show like this arrives, and we're enticed, interested, excited (like when the first see the giant). Some ignore the depths of what's in front of them while they just consume at surface level for action shorts (people climbing and playing on the giant ), while others are examining it's meaning and subtleties. Only for it to be broken down, trampled, and quickly forgotten by some, but will resonate forever with others.

My favourite was "Snow in the Desert". Didn't have a deep meaning to it but loved the idea of it. On top of the action and how beautiful it looked. These short films need to be made into movies. There's so much potential from both season 1 and 2. It frustrated me how short the second season was.
I'm not usually a fan of the eps with realistic cgi but this was so well thought out...the camera work ( if I can name it like that ) was really satisfying and I loved the characters

I felt this season was more consistent than the first. With fewer episodes, all that were better than the worst of the previous season. There were no bad episodes unlike the first season with "Alternate Histories", "The Dump" and "Blindspot". Also, I feel if you were to compare the 8 best episodes from season 1 with the 8 episodes of season 2, season 1 would have better episodes but season 2 with have more consistently good episodes.
It's hard to say which season is better. Season 1 with it's high highs; better than anything in season 2, and it's low lows; also worse than anything in season 2.

i also felt like every ep of season 2 was pretty mediocre if not out right bad, two of the new seasons ep have the same plot, the Tall Grass was just a rip off of the film In the Tall Grass. Alternate Histories and The Dump were both more fun than Automatic Customer Service. the only ep that really were ok for me were the Christmas ep and Snow in the Desert, but even they didn't come close to half of the ones in season 1.
I think they listened to the wrong critics when they when in to making the second season, twists, sex and violence is what made the first season so exiting, they stripped that all back in season 2
Pop Squad is my favourite. Followed by The Tall Grass, and Ice.
Pop squad has the best plot, but it was too short. All episodes are too short like 4-9 mins! In season 1 I remember they were much longer.

My top 3 is All though the house, pop squad and the drowned giant... The first one is just me being very biased with the twist of this thing that gives presents and I loved how they finished the episode with the question, what if...?. The second one is because that utopian world is a new way to think things, makes you think that time is meaningless when you have infinite and how small things make us appreciate that time... Lastly the drowned giant... I loved how it portrayed how dehumanized people can be, it was very heartbroking to see how the people started to play with a corspe and also makes you think that memories can last by little symbols, like the bones in the houses and stores... Pretty good season, but only 8 episodes with that lenght, give me at least 12 lol
This is in a lot of ways a continuation of the Heavy Metal series so when it came to season two, I thought Drowned Giant was pretentious and No female nudity and muted female sexual expression in other episodes combined with the prolonged male nudity in drowned giant made me hate the episode, really let down as a fan of the series in that episode.

Life Hutch was truly the worst of the lot. A build up which added up to absolutely nothing. Could’ve added a twist of him being an alien infiltrator or something, prompting the attack of the bot. Literally ANYTHING would be better than the conclusion we got.
This season had 8 strong episodes while season 1 had some misses.
But for me charm of season one was that it had so much variety AND a few 10/10s.
I disagree I really only felt like half of the episodes even had me excited, the rest were boring or too short.

There was barely like any twists in this season or like lesson or in depth stories. The only episode that I REALLY liked was all through the house. The one I wish was fleshed out more was pop squad like maybe it ended off with him taking the family and helping them becoming a wanted man or something like that. Life hutch had such great animation and that was it. It was like a section of a movie that was cut out.

I’m shocked to hear people don’t seem to like season 2, I watched it all in one sitting and fuckin loved it. Pop squad, ice, tall grass and the drowned giant were pretty amazing and really got me thinking. I liked snow in the desert as well although it was a little more straightforward. I think the issue is that people expected to be as blown away as the first season, but it’s hard to replicate that experience when fans are expecting it the second time around
Aren’t the studios/artists the same ones that did season 1? The art style certainly suggests it (didn’t watch the credits, had to zip to the next Episode 😋)

No it's good, and technologically-wise impeccable, but compared to the first anthology, it definitely feels more bland and safe. Hell, there's just one sexy scene in the season and they... crossfade from it!
You can _feel_ the creators being leashed and reeled back by the execs. Almost no experimentations, no cheeky vulgarity, and just one 2D animated short.

Exactly my thoughts and ranking.
After some thought about how the giant episode could be percieved as the beauty of death and how the things you do in life are still left behind and seen by many the episode did go up on my list and might be my favorite, honestly i did not really get tall grass at all, maybe I missed something but it just didn't really get me thinking about much. Pop squad was great too.
It's just I felt like the 1st season hit hard with some wow moments a lot of the time, and this one didn't really do that at all. It left more questions by the end without really answering any of them and i feel like most of the episodes ended right when i was really getting hooked in, but maybe that's what they were going for?

Fun fact in the episode “ice” the brother actually lied about his leg injury to make his older brother seem cool to all his friends in the ending when the friends takes the brother hat the modded brother gets it back for him landing on his leg that was so called “injured”
I interpreted that scene as the younger brother healing faster...but looking at this point of view, this fits better. The older brother felt disappointed but then realised how sweet it was of him to do that, and accepts that they are different from each other.
I thought that the brother injured himself purposely in order to get his brother killed so his family wouldn't have to have "burden" around....

In my opinion, the animation styles and the concept for all the episodes are amazing. I can’t really say the same for the plots. They were in my opinion, extremely underdeveloped and unsatisfactory. My favourite has to be Pop Squad as I really liked the dystopia designs.

You made a small mistake with Ice, the modded brother is actually the younger brother, so the older brother "saves" him. The modded bro faked his foot injury to give his older brother a much needed confidence boost.

Pop Squad was fine story wise but I couldn't get over how jarring the the one Asian woman looked compared to everyone else. The entire cast was based in realism while she was the only one given inhuman features. NO ONE else was stylized in that way
So for Snow in the Dessert. You didn't mention this at all, even though it was brought up. The women is not synthetic, they literally have a conversation and she explains that she had an accident and that she was born human. She still has mostly a human brain despite mainly being synthetic. So she is more akin to a cyborg. Just saying she is synthetic in the video implies she is purely an AI/Synthetic life which is simply not true. She is human with synthetic parts.

Season 1 is transcendent and fire. Death is inevitable and very dark and gore. It's all missing in vol 2. Except 3rd and 4th episode. These two episodes still gives half the vibe of season 1

I still loved this season to be honest. Everyone's comparing it to the last season but we need to be looking at the volumes as just stand alone episode, analysing them as their episodes rather than the season as a whole.

To me ICE was the weakest episode, because of the squandered opportunity. It had fantastic art style, world building and lore. However, it didn't use any of that, and told a very generic story about teenage angst that we have seen a thousand times.

This season of LD&R was amazing. The Drowned Giant really surprised me. When it was over my very first thought was, 'What the heck did I just watch?' But then, after some thought, it hit me just how significant of an episode it was. My favorite of this season has to go to Pop Squad. The art style and quality of the cgi was insane. And the story... wow. Easily my favorite of the season.
S2 had too many photo realistic episodes...which were cool...but it lacked the stylistic 2d episodes that S1 had... the brothers with the Whales was the only episode that wasn't heavy photo-real 3d

While I want to love this season as much as seaso 1 I just feel all episodes are all buildup but no punchline. Except for the Santa one
I guess you missed the part in Ice where it is revealed in the end that the little brother (the modded one) actually prentended to have been hurt so that his big brother (the extro) would save him. Thus, giving him the chance to prove himself and be accepted by his modded friends.

Life Hutch was actually very good episode
it has the same plot as the first ep of the season, and had a load of meaning less flash backs
@@lucafaithfull7397 Life Hutch is based on a classic short story by Harlan Ellison from the 1950s. It's the first episode that's ripping off its plot, not the other way around.
I won't lie, I ended up being quite disappointed with S2. I don't think it was bad but it lacked the wow factor of S1. I think this is down to the fact that the endings felt quite unsatisfying. Because these are short films, the ending really needs to have an impact for you to really remember the episode. S1 had the creepy reveal of Beyond The Aquila Rift, the beautiful ending of Zima Blue, the interesting twist of The Witness, the humorous surprise of Three Robots and the shocking revelation of Sonnies Edge. Most episodes had this ending that really stuck with you and created a lasting impression of the series. Without these endings, S2 just feels less interesting than season 1.
My favorite episode was Ice. I pretty much agree with you ranking but I'd move Snow a bit higher and swap Pop Squad with Ice

In my opinion Ice and the Santa one were pretty lame. With ice the whales were cool but I feel like it heavily relied on swearing and I just got confused on what’s going on.
With the Santa one I felt underwhelmed it’s just the typical ‘Santa isn’t what you think he is’ plot. I feel like they could’ve at least showed a different house who was on the ‘naughty’ list

I just couldn't understand why the conductor didn't give the passenger a MUCH stronger warning to not get off the train. At the end when the passenger found out the conductor knew I thought he was gonna throw a fit.
Yea that episode was my worst for its predictability and cliché tropes, though it had beautiful art. I much preferred the silliness of Automated Customer Service
