I just got the Ultra, and it’s the best piece of tech I’ve seen in years. I got the orange alpine loop and I love it. I have a Squale 1521 and a Gsjock Frogman (analogue version) so I’m totally fine with spending good money on good quality products. Plus since I have those other watches, I have the ability to just switch them out whenever. But otherwise, this is my first Apple Watch and I don’t regret getting it as it’s tough as nails just like my other watches which I never felt with other smart watches I’ve owned. Apple has been knocking it out of the park since iPhone 13 and the m1. Well played Apple.
It has been about 2 months since i got the Apple Watch Ultra. i sometimes regret getting my iPhone 14 Pro Max with this as the watch covers almost all of my basic needs. i leave my phone when i know im not going to any fast food drive ins and its always so freeing to never look at my phone or care where it is. i default to look at my wrist and its so much quicker. Definitely suggest this watch to people who want to phone detox without dnd and stuff like that. Just leave it!
The ultra is my expectation of what an Apple Watch should be. I have refused to own one until the ultra. I owned the series 1, and waited until the ultra to try Apple Watches again. I am pleased with the ultra.
Yo can confirm the trail loop is goated I’m a normal aromatic watch wearer and this shit makes it feel like there’s nothing on your wrist. It’s nuts plus it’s really rad lookin love the orange tab
As an emergency service working paramedic and firefighting (both volunteer) I see myself using the Apple Watch a lot especially with the alarm when sometimes I need to gain attention of other people. Bigger scream, stronger frame better battery life and most importantly looks great!
Things I love about my Ultra. Battery life, screen size, second action button, speaker output for calls, and the larger size/style. This is the first time that I have bought bands for my Apple Watch. I like the way I can change the look of the watch overall. I can put the old style watch bands on and the watch mostly looks like a normal Apple Watch. Put a large fat band on and it transforms into a very rugged looking watch. Lastly, I like the new faces that have more complications but I hate that there's no digital version with 8 complications. I like the digital faces but would really like one with 8 complications. This sort of bugs me.
I’ve owned a few Apple Watches over the years and never really felt connected to them. This new one, I would leave my house with and be ok leaving my phone at home. I love it.
So….I am a Casio g shock fanboy. Currently wearing an $800 “abc” mudmaster (altimeter, barometer, compass) that also tells temperatures and etc etc. in 2020 the g shock line entered the Bluetooth foray of iterations. This includes step tracking and heart rate as well. SINN has made a band that can hold 2 watches on it. As of now it doesn’t include the 49mm ULTRA sizing, but definitely have the 22mm g shock sizing complete. I will also look into a dyi Frankenstein band for the mudmaster and ultra on one band one wrist.
I bought the Ultra a week ago even though I am a guy with skinny wrists. It is not more bigger then the usual Seiko and Citizen round watches. I dumped the Alpine loop strap and put i a Metallic Gray stretch band from Amazon costing $20 It does not look bulky on my skinny wrists and actually makes it look awesome. I also put a Titanium colored tempered glass bumper cover.
Couldn't agree more. I absolutely LOVE my Ultra. Like you I bought mine with the orange Alpine Loop- because I love orange bands but I have to say, it is my least favourite band. I ended up going to the Apple Store & bought the Black Trail Loop the moment my local store showed stock & I haven't gone back to the Alpine. I mostly use the Trail Loop every day unless I'm being very active in which case I throw on one of my existing Nike sport loops which also fit perfectly. I did keep my Series 7 Space Black Titanium and wear it occasionally (mostly when I need a slightly elevated look) but really it's the Ultra I wear every day and I recommend it to everyone who's in the market for a higher end Apple Watch these days.
Wow. This is a hyperbolic review. The battery life is improved but all these crazy claims of going 3-4 days (or a week) without charging are ridiculous. I use my Ultra for tracking workouts and I play music from it for 30-40 minutes a day and I need to charge it every other day. It's a great watch but let's be real.
Exactly right. I have the ultra and with cellular turned off I get 36 hr of battery just like apple claims. I want to know how to get the 3-4 days, please explain how
Good video. Respectfully disagree with your take on the bands. Alpine works fine with me and I even like Ocean. Trail loop isn't worth the cost imo. But we are 100% aligned that this is a fantastic watch. Appreciate your videos! Cheers
Depends on the person. The way I use my watch I can put it in low power mode and literally dont need anything else. I could permanently keep it on low power mode and it wouldn't bother me at all.
@@emilsecker7881 I own the ultra and have not noticed ANY slow down. The main difference I see is the always on display. As soon as I go look at the time though the screen is on.
As a huge apple fan I just wanted to note that I also got the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 and I literally keep the heart rate and stress measurement on all day and take my blood pressure and sp02 once a day and it measures my sp02 all night and so far I am o ly down to 30% battery after 3 days. That's a new battery of course
Tbh, just have two apple watches. A series 4 is like ~100$ used and a series 7 45mm can be had for 200$ used on craiglist if you are patient for a deal. Now, I use one for sleep tracking and another for day time calories/workout tracking. No need to worry about battery life, or babying it. You get a routine down and that's the most important thing, especially if you depend on the watch to keep track of your workouts and keep yourself accountable.
I usually buy tech on launch day. I always upgrade my iPhone and I order on launch day; however, I have never been a person that upgrades my Apple Watch on a yearly basis. My last purchase was the Series 7, 2 years ago. Well, about 2 weeks ago I started noticing battery drop off. I went ahead and checked into the trade in value, and while not great, Apple was offering $165 for my series 7. I finally picked up an Apple Watch Ultra this past Sunday. I have to say, it’s amazing and the battery life is insane. Glad I made this purchase, and now I hope that this years Apple Watch Ultra, Series 2 isn’t so much better that I regret that I bought this a little under 2 months from launch day.
The knockoff bands are generally pretty good ! I’ve gotten a few different ones and happy…especially the orange trail and orange ocean ! I will say to buy Apple care, my first ultra failed and I wonder if it was water related but rumor is that Apple may or may not warranty because of water intrusion without Apple care plus, which is infuriating…. I’ll let you know on that .
i have one. it doesn't last for days. lol no clue why people say this. it can last pretty solidly for a full day yes. that includes normal use and a 70 minute average daily workout. you will definitely need to charge it up at some point on the 2nd day in order to have the same use each day. definitely better than the regular apple watches, but this over exaggeration of how the battery is mind blowing is confusing to me.
I love the ultra too. By the way, Gary, if you like the trail loop and you would like to try a different color. I bought the 45mm Game Royal/Midnight Navy Nike Sport Loop. It’s just as comfortable as the trail loop. I highly recommend this Nike band. I think you’ll love it just as much as the Trail Loop but possibly more and best of all it’s half the price of the trail loop. I bought it from the Apple store.
I unboxed mine (yes, I waited LOL) last Superbowl Sunday and the first thing I did was create a custom watch face with Rihanna right smack in the middle. Worth every penny. I know previous Apple Watches can do this, btw. But it made it extra special. The other features are cute too.
Because I’ve got an Apple Store within a 15 minute drive, I was able to try on all the sizes/colours/models before buying my first Apple Watch late last year. I went for the 41 Starlight Series 7 Nike. The bigger watches just looked wrong on my wrist. Always best to try first, if you can 👍
You were final review I needed for me to say, “Yep. I can make good use of this watch.” I’m looking forward to having enough battery to finish 18 holes of golf with my yardage app and then some. Thanks, as always, for the great content.
Just re-watched this video for the fourth time and I just enjoy the heck out of this I think you need to make an updated video about the Apple Watch Ultra doesn’t really matter what about I just enjoy watching you talk about it because I just bought one three weeks ago or so and I just love the heck out of it. Thank you for recommending it! 🎉🎉
I absolutely LOVE my Apple Watch Ultra!!!! Well worth the upgrade I also upgraded to the AirPods Pro 2nd gen which is also a great upgrade! Great video. The way finder, trackback, battery and size of the screen are amazing!!
I wish I could get the new AirPods pro but the way they go into my ears causes ear infections due to the moisture getting trapped from my runs. I tried cleaning, using ear drops, and changing to foam tips, but nothing worked until I went to the regular Airpods as they allow the moisture to escape. I had to give my Pros to my wife.
I like how you go in great details. I am a detail kind of guy I notice ppl have such low consciousness makes them incapable of going in detail. So nice work !
In addition, when I wear this watch, I can't but admire it. It's one of the decisions I never regretted. Also, the speed of camera remoting my iPhone and the size of the screen showing the camera on your wrist. is amazing.
I have the ultra and I get the 36 hrs of battery with cellular turned off, I would like to know how your getting 3-4 days of battery? Also in low power mode apple says up to 60 hrs how are you getting cup to a week. Tell us so we can get this also.
I bought this as a dive watch as they advertise and they want me to purchas a third party app that charge 9.99 a month to use it and it has no air integration, what a joke.
I totally agree that it’s worth the upgrade from any previous Apple Watch, or worth purchasing if considering a smart watch. The trail loop band is very comfortable, it’s unfortunate it took so long for them to become available. I’ve tried many other bands and the trail loop is hands down the most comfortable. Personally, I prefer to pay the premium price for a genuine Apple band because I know the quality will be consistent and it will last. I’ve tried knock off nike sport bands and they just weren’t the same.
I kind disagree about the battery life part. I recently purchased Ultra, and I still own an apple watch 6th stainless version, the battery life in Ultra is better, but only a margin. I used Ultra for a day and it used 38% of battery in just day time, it can possibly last two days but surely not a week.
My wife bought me the Ultra for Christmas. I’m blown away! Apple should have created it years ago. Makes the standard Apple Watch feel like a cheaper toy.
The Platinum brand? I guess thats the name, the alpine band the metal buckle can slide out from the other end whick makes it much easier to take on and off. Which is awesome because i like the look of the band and its very comfortable
The thing is for the average person the price is steep for a watch which unlike a traditional watch for the price, depreciates drastically in no time. After a year will be replaced by a new model and in a few years be useless as the battery loses its efficiency. With a normal series at half the price this is still a bug bear yet manageable. For those that buy higher end material watches then this isn’t a big deal. But for most shelling out nearly a grand every three to four years on a watch is a big ask.
Totally agree! That's why I returned mine and bought the series 8 45mm. It's the same exact internals. I can't justify $800 on a watch that'll be replaced with an even better model in less than a year.
i recently traded it my watch se 2 for ultra! :) my carrier Verizon offered me $180 for my se 2 plus another $100 off of ultra so i bought it for $519 thats a deal!! i cant wait to get mines in few days!!:)
to brighten your Apple Watch screen just click on the phone app then click on the arrow at the top left of the screen then click where it say keypad you should see the keypad get real bright then press the crown in and your watch faces will be brighter
The 3rd party trail bands are awesome quality tbh! I got the alpine with mine and while I liked it, it was a pain in the butt to take on and off the one time a week I needed to charge.
I think it’s the best Apple Watch ever made and it’s worth every bit of $800 . It doesn’t feel like a toy. It feels like a quality piece. It will be a long time before I replace this.
Mine just came in today, got the black/grey Trail loop, and so far i love it, i honestly wont be using any of the health/fitnesss features, i just loved the size of the watch, love the band, super comfy. My eyes suck, so its super easy to see.
Remember, this watch integrates better if you charge it while you shower. When you are sleeping, it will be charged and tracking the information you need.
That’s unfortunate to hear about the Alpine loop. As someone who has a very small wrist I did NOT have the same issue. But my partner told me the fit is great but the material could cause skin irritation for her.
I bought the Galaxy Watch Pro and love it, but when using the Apple Watch Ultra at work, I can tell ya the screen is sooooo much better. The OS is far smoother than any other Watch I’ve tested. I think the price isn’t that much to ask for. The Watch Pro is way over priced in my opinion if ya ask. Nowhere close competitor to the Ultra.
Video shows use of Ultra while face is located on the inside of your wrist, not on the top (outside) of wrist. I thought one cannot wear 7/8 that way (?due to sensors?) Which location on wrist is correct, or is both locations acceptable?
The problem with every Apple product the battery life in the first moth are great then you have to minimize the amount of notifications so to save the battery use. The idea of heaving Apple Watch is not to see the time only, if you don't use it you can't enjoy it.
I've worn watches since I was a little kid, and most have been pretty large. I've been disappointed for years that there wasn't a large Apple Watch option. When I saw the Ultra for the first time, I immediately bought it with the orange Alpine loop and absolutely love using it. Also, in response to that awful hoodie you're wearing, Go Blue!
How the trail loop works when going to the gym, to the pool etc when it gets wet, it gets drying quickly or it smells bad when wet? Would you recommend to have an ocean band for gym, pool, sea and one trail for daily?
I bought the ultra and I'll admit it is very useful while in the city when paired with the iPhone but I am not ready to say it can replace my Casio Rangeman Dumb watch while out pack rafting/kayak trips.
Yeah, the $20.03 Pack Trail loop are the exact same thing that comes with the watch I bought some can’t tell the difference from the original love my Apple Watch Ultra
I couldn't agree more, I love mine. I went from the Nike SE Cellular to this and I do not regret it at all. What really pushed me towards it was the battery life, I sleep track and I am very active and track those as well and I feel it does everything I need. I also love leaving my phone at home (hmm, why'd I buy the 14 pro max again?) and rolling with just my watch when I run and when I do quick errands.
I’ve just picked mine up this past Friday as a drunk purchase from the night before because I was scared to buy it. I’m glad I got it, it’s so much better from my Series 6. Its battery and 5mm screen size increase from my 44mm case is worth the upgrade! I thought my S6 was my long hauler but this one will be with me til it dies lol
I agree with your statement that in the world of high end sport and luxury watches, the Apple ultra is fairly cheap, low quality and not the best looking watch. The good thing about it is that people who are somewhat trapped inside Apple’s walled garden, will never know ( or care) about it.
not having internal maps was a major turn off for me. i have a garmin fenix 7x sapphire solar, i have to charge it once ever 24 days on average. that includes working out using gps 3-4 times per week, heart rate on 24/7 (apple checks heart rate once every 5 min during day), and many more.
Yup, great watch. Yup, too expensive for me. Regardless, great video. ("sure" and "certain" are synonymous . Unsurety = Uncertainty. Ergo, unsurety must be a real word 🙂)
Nice video..When the ultra watch battery will last a week , then I will buy it . After all , its a lot of money , we should be entitle to get a watch with a battery last for a week at least . For me it's a deal breaker .:))))
The Apple Watch Ultra cost $799.00, the Stainless steel Apple Watch cost $799.00, what’s so expensive about it? The Stainless steel Apple Watch has been $799.00 since it’s inception and now you get something a whole lot better for the same price and people are bitching about the price.
If my Garmin Fenix 5 would just die so that I could get my hands on this 😂 On a serious note though, then really love Garmin’s watches and their design and ruggedness. Not having to bring my phone everywhere would be amazing though.
I have the Series 5 right now but the GPS (for my runs) is really frustrating me. I've been looking at this to fix that (plus the workout app upgrades are a bonus). I've been told to just buy a Garmin watch for running but I want all of the other "smart" features too plus Garmin watches can creep up to that price point (and beyond). GO BUCKEYES!

This is my very first Apple Watch ever and I absolutely love it 😍
Works really well for my marathon training 💪
i just ordered one, so see how we go.
Love my Ultra,on my 5th Apple Watch,Clockology makes it even nicer ☀️
to brighten your Apple Watch screen just click on the phone app then click on the arrow at the top left of the screen then click where it say keypad you should see the keypad get real bright then press the crown in and your watch faces will be brighter
Apple watch Ultra is phenomenal. Best smart watch on the market...end of story.
I decided to order the Ultra with trail loop and getting on Jan 7th! Thank you for the video 😀
*Wife is the proper term there.
Love my ultra so much
Meanwhile, I’m charging mine every day. I do a lot of gps activities though.
Video shows use of Ultra while face is located on the inside of your wrist, not on the top (outside) of wrist. I thought one cannot wear 7/8 that way (?due to sensors?) Which location on wrist is correct, or is both locations acceptable?
Should I wait for the next one or get one now?
Is that watch band waterproof? Or does it soak water and remain wet if you get it wet when washing hands or whatever?
I have the same band. I sometimes shower with it and I don't sense it being soaked after
It gets a little wet, but dries pretty quickly. It doesn't soak in water. It's quite thin. If you damp dry it after, it's pretty good to go.
It’s great that we have Garmin :) . Good video tho
Did you use all the feature and fungtion on AWU?
It’s easy as to text from the series 7 even while doing stuff
How many times did you activate the fall detection and you had to hurry and put no so emergency rescue would not show up😂
How the trail loop works when going to the gym, to the pool etc when it gets wet, it gets drying quickly or it smells bad when wet?
Great vid from the uk 🇬🇧 already bought one been waiting for a durable Iwatch for years 🎉
I’ve just picked mine up this past Friday as a drunk purchase from the night before because I was scared to buy it. I’m glad I got it, it’s so much better from my Series 6. Its battery and 5mm screen size increase from my 44mm case is worth the upgrade! I thought my S6 was my long hauler but this one will be with me til it dies lol
The Ultra has been amazing. The alpine strap for me is good
I agree with your statement that in the world of high end sport and luxury watches, the Apple ultra is fairly cheap, low quality and not the best looking watch. The good thing about it is that people who are somewhat trapped inside Apple’s walled garden, will never know ( or care) about it.
my biggest concern would it be able to handle mud ??? i like going off roading
I'm getting a solid 72hrs out of a charge (granted I'm not using it for any extreme sports/activities)
not having internal maps was a major turn off for me. i have a garmin fenix 7x sapphire solar, i have to charge it once ever 24 days on average. that includes working out using gps 3-4 times per week, heart rate on 24/7 (apple checks heart rate once every 5 min during day), and many more.
Yup, great watch. Yup, too expensive for me. Regardless, great video.
("sure" and "certain" are synonymous . Unsurety = Uncertainty. Ergo, unsurety must be a real word 🙂)
Hey there, I really enjoyed your review do you know if there is an app for monitoring my walks and runs?
Iphone 14 pro max and watch ultra grate combination
I would like to see the ultra watch have emergency satellite communication, just like they have with the iPhone 14
Nice video..When the ultra watch battery will last a week , then I will buy it . After all , its a lot of money , we should be entitle to get a watch with a battery last for a week at least . For me it's a deal breaker .:))))
No it’s not a waste of money
You're right I got mine at Aliexpress for $32.00...
GO BLUE 〽️
60 hours to my knowledge is not a week ... Do i miss anything here ? :)))
I plan to buy gen 2
I would buy it if I was in America the price is fine but in Australia it’s $1299 that puts it in problem territory for me
You missed a great "that's what she said moment" when you mentioned size...
Lol never have to charge it lol 3 days tops is where it’s at.
