Anyone who comes for Tolkien saying he can’t write doesn’t understand language! As you say - he’s a nerd who loves languages. LOTR has so much to say, and it’s one of the most beautifully written series of books I’ve read. The Two Towers Part II is just poetry.
I'll admit, Gideon didn't grab me until the got off their home planet, but once that happened I was 100% along for the ride, no matter how confusing it might get. Every book in that series has been a gift. Sounds like Hail Mary needs to move up in priority on my TBR.
The way my jaw dropped in actual mortification when you read the line "Gideon is hands down my least favorite character in anything" (or similar, I'm NOT rewinding to get the quote right)... I will THROW HANDS
You did pretty well, if I was a booktober I don't think I could be so calm as you were here. I remember watching a review of Tender is the flesh and getting really mad when the reviewer said that part of the plot was stupid 😂 And being relatively new to Booktube, today is the first time I heard the term "purple prose" 🚀👽
Piranesi is in my 2024 TBR! I cannot wait! Have to get Hunger of the Gods out if the way first. I had written off Gideon as not for me, but you may have convinced me otherwise.
@@theanswerisbooks I think one review I listened to described it as a dark romance and it just turned me off. I just got the whole vibe wrong. Bad asses female MC who uses humor and vulgarities to cope with the world? Sounds like my cup of tea. 🍵 ☕️ 🫖
@@Helkafrankeenweenie27 oh yeah, there is no romance in the first book at all! and maybe some if you squint later?? it's honestly description defying, you should give it a go!
Watching you get mad at Gideon reviews and defending Gideon is giving me life, so damn enjoyable. I have similar feelings when I read negative reviews of these books (Gideon). I am scared that I will actually pop an aneurysm when I have to see people comment on Jade Daniels tho, pray for me! I will add another comment if I survive the video :P
🙏 Actually, I didn't see anybody commenting on Jade! They were all just bored. The worst thing people said is they didn't like being in her head. Which: fair. She doesn't like it, either!
Ok, a real comment. On LoTR, I’m not a fan of what he did with Eowyn. Her shift from shield maiden to healer in a single conversation seemed so sudden to me. That’s all. I love the rest. Though more women would be nice.
Honestly the fact that there are two women, and one of them fights in the big battle, was epically revolutionary for its time. I give him a lot of credit for that. But yeah, it would have been nice!

It's so fun!
OMG THE MUG STOP IM CRYING😭💓💓💓
It's a great mug!
P.S. Literally filming a Syndianapolis 500 response/tag video right now, so thanks for the neat idea :)

Which is exactly why I stopped reading that review.

"Pretty well", lol. I don't think I will be doing this video concept again! I get too worked up.
piranesi was a five-star read for me but i get that it can seem boring to some people. it's more of a vibey book like the night circus
The vibes are *immaculate*.

Gideon is so good!! What about it was turning you off?

@@theanswerisbooks *Jade Daniels has never giggled in her fucking life*. YOU TELL THEM!!!
ok, I survived un-aneurysmed. I think I am not attached to the last two books, but will watch to the end. Thanks for making me smile widely!
you're welcome, haha

I seriously need to re-read it!
