Raytheon had such a big presence in Waltham in the Bleachery near the Watertown line. I also remember going with my sister to the Polaroid plant on 128 to pick up my mother who worked there in the early '70s before my dad's job took him to Tampa in 1975 fro Honeywell and GTE.. It was amazing how high tech that 128 corridor was back in the '70s (and before that though I was too young to remember). What an amazing bit of history the city has. @@chrismoser9676 I remember in the early '70s there was a shopping center on River Street with a Zayre, Star Market and an Anderson Hall clothing store where my Dad bought some of his suits. I also remember Riverside Lanes right on the Watertown line, used to bowl candlepins there a lot, much more than the Wallex on the other side of town. I went up there around 2000 for my Dad's funeral and I remember the Star Market was still there but might have been a Shaws, the candlepin lanes were gone already. Also remember going to the Waltham Supermarket a lot. Good memories.
Waltham is right now relaunching it’s important Field & Marine Trench watch, the forerunner of all dive watches. A new chapter in its history and a first step towards bringing Waltham back to America.

I grew up on River St in the apartments right next to the old Ming Terrace
It was crazy when the workers would leave every afternoon. Everything in the neighborhood stopped for a good ten minutes
