There are so many quality players to watch and Collins is definitely up there for me. So much to love about her game and I live for her on court attitude!
Collins on match point was like "yeah it was in, don't bother checking."
I adore her. The way she blew on her racquet made me laugh so hard!
wow...what a aggression from colins.. she played top notch tennis. those drop shots for a player like halep who always stick to the basline is wonderfull plot.
Very crafty and tactical and outside of her comfort zone tbh which made for the turning point and ultimate result

Very hard to look at collins’s face, don’t know what her angry for all the time.
Collins really exposed Halep's weakness here, which is that she can retrieve like nobody else, but she doesn't have too many shots she can use to end the point. Usually, her ability to get to the ball almost anywhere on the court, especially on clay, is enough to break down her opponents and eventually give her an opening.
However, there are many players on tour, Collins being one of them, who have the tennis sense and shot-making ability to end the point in spite of her ability to chase down the ball. Kudos to her for hanging in there, and congrats to Collins on an awesome win. Hopefully, she has a deep run in the tournament.

Wow. Collins hasn’t been a favourite of mine, but damn her backhand is soo good. Forehand and serve not the best in the game, but accurate and powerful enough. Today she played tactically well and mixed in some slices and drop shots really adroitly - not what you’d associate with her normally. Interesting!

Congratulations to Collins for winning this match. Both played great. Danielle Collins simply was better than Halep this time. Her next opponent Anisimova won't be so easy. Collins played awesome and defeated the queen of clay. If she can keep this up, she might be hard to defeat. Simona Halep too played awesome. This match was full of suspense and serve breaks. Every time when Halep broke her serve, Collins broke Halep's serve back. Danielle Collins never gave up. Very interesting and watchable this match was. Score doesn't show it, but Collins straight up outplayed Halep easy. Amazing win by Danielle Collins.

Well women's tennis changed when prize money went equal with men, pro coaches starting training women. You don't have a soft player in top20 anymore and pushing the ball is not enough anymore. If your serve is weak, you pay. Simona unfortunately still does not have a good second serve, she got destroyed on 2nd serves. Hopefully Muratoglu will help her with that and with confidence, which is key for ladies. Collins is a solid player who will make you pay if your serve is weak, which she did. Well done to her, despite being one of the most hated players on the WTA, well played! I am Romanian btw.

Why Colins looked like unhappy
In her own mind she ment to play like a rocket whereas in reality she sometimes played like a steam engine only. That´s the way to self-judgement, and you get unhappy the longer this match lasts, no matter which results you have...;-))

Pretty dismal effort by Halep as she is a clay court specialist afterall and Collins is good but not great. Serve let Halep down as always and mediocre ball placement just didn't put Collins under any sort of pressure.
Why, just why does Danielle put up this weird poker face which looks like she´s constantly upset and pissed of?? If she played bad, well, ok! But she played super well and had no reason to be so self critical...it´s like she looks down on her poor playing skills with disgust...;-))

When Collins isn't getting bullied and beat like a drum; she actually shows why she is ranked number 8. Her previous matches against Naomi and Bianca showed why ranks sometimes don't matter because she got her ass whipped. For some reason the younger players always get the best of Collins no matter their rank and beat her like she's a junior division player. Her next opponent is 20 year old Anisimova and hopefully Collins experience will kick in.

Halep's serve is obviously her weakest shot; Collins was returning her serves with impunity. With Mouratoglou as her coach, she came up short. I think her best coach was still Cahill.
Mouratoglou is a good developmental coach, but he hasn’t had much luck with other players further in their careers. Serena doesn’t count because she is a GOAT, and she would make any coach look good with her talent and abilities.
@@springfield03sniper whatever his merits are as a "developmental coach" (I would consider Juan Carlos Ferrero superior), it cannot be denied that he is such a self-promoter, the one who actually exploits his wards for his own academy. nothing wrong with that, i guess, but he is also quite obnoxious, a cheat, and rather overrated. you are right about him hitting the jackpot with Serena. but with lesser lights like Halep, he just shows how limited he actually is. Danielle Collins has a very distinct game. Her backhand is lethal. Simona has great retrieving skills, but in this match it seems she had no real game plan to neutralize Collins. Plus her serve is really weak, which would seem to show that that was one part of her game that got no improvement from her supposedly "developmental coach."

It's the battle between power (collins) vs agility (halep). Collins may not have the best footings on court hence does not really move well around the court but she compensates it with her sharp and power hitting balls. Halep on the other hand, may be smaller in figure but her reach, pace, and court coverage is incredible.
Some folks find it amazing that Collins doesn't have a coach. With Collins attitude and the chip on her shoulder, it would be very difficult to coach an athlete like her who thinks she knows it all. Collins studies film of her opponents and practices accordingly. She has a short window of opportunities to win a slam and she's aware of it. At least she was smart enough to partner up with one of the best double partners you can have for the 2022 Wimbledon.⏳🎾

I still say Collins doesn't drop shot enough. She's already got every opponent on their heels. She mixes in more drop shots and they're going to be even more frequently out of position.

Thats true for every player. But please tell me who can drop shot like i.e. Barty, who played this successfully?? Very little players can dropshot for the win, they do it once or twice for the loss, and give up. Even Swiatek, who once used dropshots a LOT, dropped that thing and you hardly see her playing stop balls anymore. It´s quite risky if you´re not good enough.

Because Anisimova is a better player that Halep at this point. Halep is probably past her prime. Plus Collins always let these younger top players punk her out and they make her look like a newbie. Vondroušová at Dubai, Naomi at Miami, Bianca at Madrid and now Anisimova at the Italian Open. All young and top players that have beaten Collins ass like a drum. I wouldn't be surprised if Collins was dropped from the top 10 after this. Some of these older players reaching 30 or over can't keep up with the young bloods.

Simona needs to end points as early as possible…drive the ball away from her opponent’s as best possible! She needs to make them stretch for every return… no use in returning back to their racquet distance! She has to go for winners as early as possible with every point played! Long rallies no longer suit her game… the new girls on the block are young and in killer form! Halep cannot keep rallying hoping for them to error… she has to go for winners early and force the error from her opponents instead!

Halep always tends to drift into rallyes, only to one result: draining off her energy and serving her opponent the chances for winners. Play one risky shot for the good and leave this rallying behind, it wears you down and does nothing for the point.

Danielle Collins has to learn terms of manners and RESPECT for her opponents and for her fans.
When you have such an attitude your solid game doesn’t mean much for tennis lovers, that’s why I can’t watch her tennis. She is very mean, she hates when fans shout "Simona", she is irritated and frustrated.
Simona, we love you, you have respect for everyone, I have never seen evil in your eyes!
You have to look at Danielle as she is. Intense. She’s a sweetheart off court and her AO final speech said it all. I find her absolutely hilarious now but disliked her before too. She’s a good person who has been through a lot of difficult experiences.

As a female tennis player you have to be fierce. Collins exhibits that. Fernandez and Radacanou were fierce and then let all the media hype get to them. They were young and fierce and made it to the final of the US Open. Then so much publicity and now they are not as fierce or strong-willed on the court as they were. Collins doesn't let that get to her. She is her own person. Love her or hate her - she doesn't care. I love that about her. I hope she goes all the way! And I love that she went the college tennis route. Go Danielle!!

Time and time again Halep sends the ball to where Collins is. She cannot slice, cannot voley, cannot smash, cannot serve, cannot put shorts just ofer the net, she is predictable, Collins knows minute before where she will send the ball.
Yeah... she can't do nothing Halep, despite that, Halep won 2 GS and Collins 0, Halep carrier titles won: 23, Collins 2, Halep Highest Ranking 1 (for 64 weeks), Collins highest rank 8.

Ești o jucătoare de tenis așa cum se juca odată . Simplu - un joc cu bucurie cu fayr- play...pur și simplu competiție sportivă! Jucatoarele de acum cu care joci tu ,mai noi ,joacă tenisul că pe un bisnis. Sunt foarte agresive , dure, fără pic de plăcere, bucurie interioară!
Dacă aș face o comparație între un joc de tenis de acum și unul de acum câțiva ani ,aș spune că stau față în față un interlop impunător cu un adversar suav care are legea în sânge
Desigur ,nu îți dau sfaturi, dar ar fi bine să te retragi ,să rămâi în gândurile noastre nr 1 în tenis, nr 1 în viața de zi cu zi....
