Honestly if gives you a reason to play the other characters lol. I legit stopped playing fighterz because I got good at playing one team (Goku Black, Android 16, and SSJ Goku) and got decently ranked, but when they got nerfed hella hard I didn't want to play any other team cuz that meant my rank would drop like crazy just to learn. Ik fighterz and sf6 are completely different games, but still. It's nice being able to get bored of one character and jump right into learning a new one without your rank falling.
It's the best feature... before i used the easiest character for me, gained rank, and when i got used to the flow of the game and wanted to try harder character... i got wrecked hard.

But in your case, your fear of losing rank was so extreme that you stopped playing the game entirely! Isn't that kind of weird?
Medal system is fine. Here is why: Lv1-lv2 Manon. Worst command grab damage in the gane. Lv3 Manon. On par with Marisa's command grab. Lv4 Manon. On par with Gief. Mind you, Marisa and Gief start each round with that damage output. Also, every other character with a resource that resets or go away like Jaimie, Lily, Juri, Honda, Ryu etc. can stock said resource raw, from the opposite end of the screen if they want. Manon needs to make a read, land a heavy button, or spend 3 bars on DR cancel to get a medal level.

There was this one Ken player in SFV. He'd always hop in my lounges, always run the full set, always opt for another, and he did very little other than shoryuken and heavy tatsu. Dude had 39k games, and a winrate of something like 14% I think. Ranked Super Bronze, and I'd bet that was the highest he ever got. Some people just don't give a rat's ass about ranking up or getting good. Some just get what to them is "good enough", and that is where they choose to stay, not improving anymore.

As a fellow Manon player in Iron I quite enjoy this too. Manon on modern gets me dubs. The next day I switch to classic and lose all the points. Then the next day I farm a bit on modern just to blow it all on classic. The cycle of a noob trying to learn lol

@@tacticsogreman just get in the lab and absolutely drill doing inputs until they come naturally. after you gain the muscle memory it's easy, but trying to gain that only in matches is gonna be rough, esp once you're used to the way modern works imo pull off the bandaid and just lab it til you get them 80% of the time ish, then practice a bit against a cpu, and at that point bother with another player. to be clear this isn't a big chunk of time even just for learning inputs thats the basic fighting game learning loop tho also ill say if you're trying to HP > HP into command grab, do 6HP for either both or for the second HP. if you're already pointing the stick that direction, the command grab input is a lot easier hope this is helpful/makes sense
I realized how much gold was missing when I got there with juri. No DI reaction, by DI punish was lvl1 super, all my combos were 3 hits, and my only pressure option was 5MP > 2MP > 214 MK and just throwing sometimes. Like, just carried off my footsies/neutral from strive and juri being kinda juiced in this game. I was expecting bronze because I have basically no other sf experience.
Doubt it tbh if you look at her framedata, she needs to drive rush alot to force any throw mixups, if you figure her out there's quite a bit of counterplay. It's easy to get robbed by her though if you're unlucky, I see her as more of a bracket ruiner

Right now I'm curious how much of Manon's strengths will carry over into later in the game's life cycle. Obviously at this point it's impossible to tell, but it seems that its especially hard to assess when it comes to grapplers.
she definitely seems a lot stronger than gief, her magnetic mix-ups are a bit canned but I dont think anything is gonna be discovered that will invalidate the little guessing game she plays every time a heavy punch lands. Theres probably gonna be some really bad match ups for her with characters that can blow up the mid range poking gameplan but I think this is the most solid grappler ever in a street fighter game

I think a good way to rework Manon's medal system would be it maxing out at 3 instead of 5 and resetting each round. She has 3 distinct command grab animations and she can max it in any given round but it doesn't snowball to the entire game.
Call me crazy but Manon just doesn't look like the character for you Brian. Even after reaching Diamond, it still doesn't look like Manon is a natural fit for your play style. You don't flow like running water with her.

But it's ok though because Ima get so good with him that I will w/o question shove my flash kick up their ass every time they jump at me to the point that they won't jump at me for atleast a week.

Also just wanted to say Hi Brian and everyone! I have labbed out some ken punish combos and building them into my muscle memory. Finished the main story in world tour and it was fun. I think what I want to do is learn parry timings and try to learn the gief matchup for ken. He was always my biggest problem and getting grabbed infuriates the hell out of me. You really think not knowing how to play a character you're on versus those who know theirs somewhat will should always result in wins, just because the gap is huge? Look at how got an 11-win streak by the end of the video. The gap is already showing itself with one session.
I love the fact that the game let's you rank in with each character with their own rank. Makes trying out new characters a lot more guilt free.
Thank god that feature is back, it also incentivize getting better with the character and trying to bring all your mains to the highest level possible

Honestly just challenge their jump in with your air grab. I think that would help a ton, but its hard to say without watching one of those replays
