They don't have to beat the competition in horsepower. Just beat the prices which likely won't happen against the TRX. Ford has lost their minds on pricing.
They ALL have lost their minds 😂 I’m looking for a truck and the prices are comparable with all trim levels
Man a good obs 3/4 ton it is the way to go m,aftermarket is huge even with simple interior designs to tech,3/4 has enough power give what an all you need
@@30546MB I'd say factoring in our terrible democrat economy with what you get in these trucks the TRX is a good deal.
@@brianstockton4299 This is referring to new trucks and being realistic you would have to put 100 grand into a classic truck to get it comparable to a new truck.
@@srtmetal7647 Vehicle prices skyrocketed under Trump, and the tariffs he passed increased them more. Not sure how you completely forgot about that...🤔🙄
Will start at 150k and only the 1% will able to buy them and will NEVER take them off road, tow a boat, or a trailer.
You sound jelly
The old farts won't drive them off road, but young rich men will probably jump them on their YT channels for our enjoyment.
@@SJDJFJFSKSXNDJWJQI I am. I make over 100k a year and can’t afford a damn pickup truck in the “greatest country in the world”. Enjoy your shiny truck on. 34’s that you don’t even know how to put in 4WD.
@@joshuaerickson2458 yeah that streetspeed guy needs a kick in the ass
@MuahMan I have 32s and it's 2wd thank you very much
Way too expensive but this is the best straight to the point update yet. Thankyou for quick professional key point briefing.
I think it's more of a halo vehicle regardless of how well they sell just like how the Corvette ZR1 and Shelby 500. They're wicked cool to see that they exist, but they don't necessarily need to be that profitable. Just be proof of peak performance.
This would have been brilliant 3-4 years ago. But with what's happening in car sales this year, releasing a 100,000+ super truck next year... well good luck to them... Dime short dollar late.
It will sell out..just cause you can't afford it doesn't mean it will collect dust at the lot 😂.
I could buy one for each day of the week if I wanted to. And selling them all doesn't mean squat. Look what they did to the SS. There should be as many of those on the roads as Chargers. They probably have a market for about 10 thousand of these trucks in the US and they'll build maybe 2-3thousand. Just so that they can make the highest margins possible from guys like you who go into massive debt to try to convince everyone how cool they look in their overpriced toys. Seriously... I think you've figured out how to say "I'm a man who wears jewelry" without saying "I'm a man who wears jewelry"
@@ExaltedDuck didn’t read a word of that haha cheap cheap cheap
“A wise man once said don’t argue with fools. Because people from a distance can’t tell who is who!” - Jay Z, Takeover Track. Btw, I agree with your statements. Day late, dime short.
@@c.albrow9161 you broke too?
Another chance for a $100K dealer markup YAY !
Market won’t let that happen soon….
Right, I can understand up to 5k but anything like Ford has been, is such a blatant rip off. And people encourage this just to be the first.
lol right?
Hey look at the bright side, more competition, more trucks on the market, it might cause ford and ram to drop their prices.
The more I watch these the more willing I am to wait for the used car market to soften and then buy one of Ben’s favorite value propositions. That would be a used 2022 Nissan Frontier with under 25k miles for under 28k.
I got a 2017 Nissan frontier back in July 2021 been good even taken it camping 🏕 a bunch. I got a 6'lift I need to put on jiys need to get wheels and tire next probably going to have to trim it up and do the melt mod to fit the tires with no rubbing
Horrible truck
@Neoskater420 you're lucky man my 17 frontier was the biggest piece of shit I've ever owned for a new truck. Got it with 6 miles on it and lemon lawed it at 45k miles. Between having the entire brake system replaced and the differential going out nothing but issues man.
I'm very sceptical with this rumor... GM has already stated they have little to no interest in competing within this segement for a couple reasons. If this rumor is indeed true, that would be awesome for GM fans, if priced appropriately. It'd be awesome to see GM shove either the LT4 or possibly even their LT5 powerplant into their trucks. That being said, I'll believe it when I see it.
I own a 2015 Silverado with the 6 speed transmission, it’s transmission is weak! But stronger than the 10 speed, if Chevy came out with a stronger transmission I’d look at it, the ram has a better transmission, even if it came with a stronger transmission I’d never spend over $70,000. Canadian for a truck, it’s just not worth that, even $70,000. Is too much, although if this came out I’d hope that Chevy put in a stronger rear locker and a stronger front diff, and the air conditioning needs better parts… and how about just a v-6 with 300 hp and similar torture for fuel economy! And it would make a great expedition truck, Sure I’d love the v-8 but with fuel prices rising it gets too expensive..
@@vincefairleigh6899just buy a smart car
@@vincefairleigh6899 dude you're truck is a 2015 so it's 8 years old and in that time they've done alot with their trucks. Also if you knew anything the 6 speed is actually a really good transmission and better than that shitty ass 8 speed in the trucks now. The differentials are fine and plenty fine. My 16 z71 hasn't given me any signs of being weak and i beat on it hard.
The name has me sold already, this is the competition that we’ve been missing ever since the big three brought back their pony/muscle cars
It's about time. Most likely, it will be out of my price range, but it's still about time
Can we go back to not every new vehicle costing 50k+
No.
Saw a god damned Ford Maverick used being sold for 42K the other day. A 19k truck.... This country is fucked. A depression so big is coming it's actually terrifying.
Chevy filled a void with the Silverado ZR2. An full-sized pickup truck that can fit in a parking lot, and (most importantly) actually fit on wooded trails, where majority of the world drives off road. Oh lol, and with 2 locking differentials!
I love the ZR2 and can't wait to see how it looks with a widebody! I just hope they have improved shocks. The Silverado ZR2 using the DSV shocks right off the Colorado ZR2 was the only let down (for me) Bigger truck needs bigger shocks! If Chevy stays with Multimatic for this, I hope the invested in developing a new, heavier duty, larger shock.
Call it the ZR2 X, but X is for "Extinction", like what happened to dinosaurs lol
@Corrie Elieff Half ton buyers looking for off road capabilities like front and rear diff lockers don't care about speed. That 6.2 making 420 hp and 460 lb-feet of torque is PLENTY powerful and is everything I have ever wanted in a half ton.
You are full of BS and have never owned any truck, period.
From a Bentley owner who went from a Lamborghini and then a spaceship 😂
When Ben makes a video during baby's nap time....
If TRX is being cancelled year end or 2024 , GM won’t have to worry about TRX !!
Imagine being so far behind that your benchmark is released after its inspiration has had a compelte life cycle. LmAO
I just have my 2020 trail boss 10 speed and it does everything really well .super happy with it .
Yeah im perfectly happy with my 2012 Raptor with 411 hp. Dont see why anyone would need 700 hp
Yeah I also have a 2020 trail boss 6.2L, and I'm a truck driver, so I haven't even put 5000 miles on it yet.
@@jibrilthegreat35 lots of reasons
@@kg0311 you dont need 700 horse power, you want. Theres a big difference.
If it wants to be a true killer, it should be pushing low 800hp range. King suspension to boot
I am a loyal GM buyer. I have to admit that they are always behind in hp and torque. They are doing the same thing this truck that they did with the Camaro. Years after, most people already had to buy from a different manufacturer.
Is it crazy that some of us don't want 700hp? I want a long-travel suspension truck with a solid V8. I hope they make a version with the NA 6.2.
Right. 700+HP makes more sense in a street truck. A moden, fullsize take on the Syclone/Typhoon would be great. Or as you say, a true off-road suspension under 450-500hp is plenty.
Nah, that engine is a basic engine. It def needs 750 hp
Well lucky for you there is tons of trucks from all 3 American brands that focus more on travel and still have a V8. The point of this truck is to compete and basically put on a show, while still selling 1500, 2500 and 3500 to the general public
My 2003 Silverado 1500HD 6.0L Quadrasteer is wider than the standard full size pickup trucks. And it turns tight.
Even under 700hp I’d buy either one all day, sign me up to trade this raptor in
The big 3 shouldn't be fighting against each other. It's them 3 against them Electric things
They may be required for a change to make a round fender well considering tires aren’t square
They changed the fender wells already
With loaded pickup trucks now being 65 grand and up I guess us regular people will just have to watch because I can't believe what people are paying for these vehicles today and don't think they can all afford it because a lot of them will end up getting hooked by a wrecker
Exactly…@SRTMETAL!!! Price is everything. I just forked out almost 62k for my ‘23 Duramax Silverado Trailboss. If they’re charging just as much (not including the dealers markup) or more, they can miss me with that. Besides there’s no telling if gas is gonna stay the same. Might go up once again.
Oh look, another $100k truck! Cant wait
I am in the market for Raptor R but no way in hell I pay $70k markup selling at $180K. Chevy better have a substentially better pricing for me to even consider. If the price is within $10K, I still would buy the Raptor R.
If people stop paying the marked up price. They will have to stop the bs
The thing that makes these new vehicles worth the “price” is the limited amounts of them being produced. I probably speak for most of the people who want to buy vehicles. I want my money to be well spent and not wasted. Therefore this allocation process is nothing more than dealers way of wasting our hard earned money. They get a few allocations on the newest hottest vehicle and either take care of their biggest customers first which is fair, or charge way over invoice to make up for their used cars they overpaid for. I for one don’t want to be upside down in a brand new or used vehicle. So overpaying on something like that isn’t going to
happen. Seeing market adjustments on a sticker makes me drive off of the dealership lot. Supply shortages excuses can’t be the excuse forever. Especially when usable components are being crushed with unsold vehicles everyday. A whole other topic. Something needs to be done to fix the allocation process. Rushing to get vehicles out the door to satisfy a few isn’t profiting the manufacturers, only the dealers for a short time. A few big sales isn’t going to carry the dealerships through a whole year till more vehicles move off the lot. Being a consumer is tough
This is one of your better videos, I enjoy your product videos more than the others - car market doing this or that, I don't care so much for those
So if Raptor < TRX < Asteroid then will the next truck be named the 'Harry Stamper'?
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Two new six figure trucks that the average Joe can't afford..Perfect
GREAT VIDEO BEN!!!! I LOVE EVERYTHING. GREAT EDUCATION . THANKS FOR SHARING!!!
I’m hoping for King shocks and 750 hp. Well I will have to pass on the new Prius to get one of these.
Probably 650hp like all thr Vs
It's not going to have long shocks. Chevy doesn't use other company's suspension components since they have multi matic dssv shocks which are probably our close to as good as the king shocks.
@@chriskolaska897 LoL you must of forgot about Bilstein shocks on a lot of trucks for decades.
Yeah, with the ZR2 being &72.000 this damn thing will probably $90K. Thanks Chevy/GM of the late ass response.
Competition is ALWAYS good but if this takes a couple of years to come out I wonder if the ram trx may get a refresh if only to compete more with the Raptor R and of course it'll be an opportunity to jack up the price. Or maybe both Ford and Ram will bump uu power figures in anticipation of the GM? Either way, it'll be interesting to see what happens! Thanks for the vid!
If we get another dem in 2024 there won’t be any gas cars or trucks anymore. They want us all in electric cars by 2030. The auto makers are doing their part already by jacking up the prices. Wait and see
I'm still rocking a S10 ZR2 and it's still going strong.
it's like the time of the supertruck and midsized truck, but the midsized trucks i mostly see colorado, canyon, and tacoma, not very many rangers or gladiators
They should have just went with the Colorado as a trophy style truck. I personally would never buy something so big to drive them hard in the desert with all that weight which is why trophy trucks are based on Tacomas, older Rangers, Nissan Frontier and they really missed what the die hard Prerunner tuners actually use and I would introduce a RWD version and a 4x4 version for significantly less than a new Raptor or TRX with different packages that are completely gutted out with no ac, no power windows and so many of the things you don't need and have a higher end version as well for the Bros to drive around the mall parking lot.
You know what would be great, to have a reliable truck that didn't break down that will run longer than the life off your loan that doesn't cost as much as a house
I’m definitely game considering Ford,General Motors, and Tesla are the only American companies left so it’s so cool to see ford and General Motors stepping it up to compete with Fiats TRX.
Ultimately I think pricing will make or break this market introduction, I'm not concerned about 690 horsepower versus 701 horsepower
I just can't imagine a 1200.00 payment, expensive insurance, and having to run premium fuel. You're probably looking at 1500.00 bucks a month just to own this truck, the TRX, or the Raptor. I just can't see the logic. At least with a 1 ton 4x4 dually, you can actually use it for something and kind of justify the cost.
1200 a month? Lol with 30k down on TRX you’re at 1300 with current interest rates and that’s getting at msrp of 103k
@@Invictus_Veteran Dude, that's just insane. Even if I had a spare 100k lying around, there is no way I would pay that for a truck.
They will sell everyone they make. Better realize there are people who can write the check and think nothing of it.
I see the cherry being similar to the ram trx proving wise including the starting price. The gmc version I see $105000-$110000
Meteor is a good name for this truck because that’ll describe the dealer mark-up and the repair bills for those GM bargain bin parts they use.
Finally, looks like Chevrolet is going to make something worth buying that’s exciting. Other than of course, the Corvette.
I hope those roof lights work on my trail boss.
Can’t see it being a daily driver. Wouldn’t trade in my ZR2 But I’d own both
I hope GM builds it and cancels the ZR2 Bison allowing all 2022/2023 ZR2 owners to buy AEV bison parts as a aftermarket. AEV/GM is loosing out on potential sales with all the current ZR2 owners that would like to add the bison package as a aftermarket’s option
No need for the code names. This is what the ZR2 and AT4x should have been. Just make those trucks that name.
The zr2 and at4x are meant to compete with the tremor and rebel
More power is less important than better capability and durability. Its purpose is off road and the TRX proves more power equals more weight thus makes the Raptor better off road.
Wish thier would be a 6.6L naturally aspirated gas V8 option.
What is the actual target market for these vehicles? I never see them on trails, or even muddy. Rarely do I see them working other than maybe pulling a small trailer. No hate here, but the only people I see in these trucks are those with funny money, rarely, if at all use their capabilities, and enjoy knowing they have high hp trucks. Like I said, no hate but what do people actually buy these truck for?
I literally just ordered a loaded 2023 Silverado ZR2, 3 weeks ago. I'll be cancelling that order and driving my '21 Blazer RS for another year to end the lease (please don't hate, cuz I hate it, too after driving my current '20 Silverado 6.2 regularly. The Blazer's lack of low end power is disturbing & frustrating). I'll hold my breath to wait to see what the actual specs, price and release date are on the "Meteor" before I make another purchase. I'd imagine as "saturated" as the market is for these top-end off-roaders, there remains brand loyalty that comes into play. I've looked at the Raptor and the TRX, but didn't pull the trigger because, well, they're a Ford and a Dodge (Ram).
Is this definitely going into production?
idk why GM hasnt brought the hunter back... it would be a great reboot now with the trx and raptor out, back in the 70s 80s was popular
If you own a Chevy its a good idea to know where all the Chevy mechanics are located, due to all the maintenance needed to keep them on the road. 😮😮😮😮
Toyota should come out with their own and call it Panda
Godzilla
I’d consider trying this vehicle, apparently GM realizes the public doesn’t want EV’s, they are a lot less fun to drive.
I have a brilliant idea. Why don't vehicle manufacturers bring back well made, reliable, and modestly equipped vehicles at a reasonable price?
Since they are going to be wider, they should allow it to seat three in the front.
They’re widening the fenders, not the cab
Both Zr2 and At4x are 100k CAD. That new truck will be about $150k.
I foresee one of these in your garage at some point.
All GM has gotta due is offer these trucks at a better cost to the consumer and they'll sell very well I think. Pretty simple.
Remember the 2019 zr1 had 755 hp & 715 ft lbs of torque
Shocked that they are actually giving it a go. Took long enough for GM to give it a shot.
I wonder if they’ll wait for that new gen small block
Asteroids and meteors may have killed the dinosaurs, but they also got buried underground never to re-emerge! 😂
And an old 80 Toyota will still go further and last longer than any of the computer dreams of today.
although I like the idea of it, I have absolutely no faith in GM pulling it off. I see this being a supercharged 6.2L slapped into a trailboss and calling it Meteor... Thats about it.
I expect to see the gm performance long travel dssv shocks on them.
It’s about time GM is competing with ford and ram on what I call the super truck market if this true of course to bad at this point I’ll never be able to afford any of em but I do love GM and I’m glad they’re finally stepping up their game if this rumor turns out to be true let’s hope the don’t skimp out on horsepower and performance yeah baby come on GM
Even if they drop the LT4 in it they won’t come to level. They need the LT5
They do definitively have to beat the horsepower
Watch as some young man buys this truck and races it from 1 gas station to the next. $15 of gas might get 3 or 4 wide open throttles.
About Time!!!😀
Looks like the competition too
Can’t wait to do a lifter job on one of these 😂
I'm not concerned with that first 6 years of payment. That's what a warranty is for
$100k+ for a sport pickup truck? We have reached one of the top tiers of absurdity.
Hopefully it has 2H and all wheel drive
Except they never fixed the known frame issues from the gen 1. Look at the Mint400 zr2 lol
Speaking as a GM fan boy, GM is little late to the punch since Ford Raptor came out in 2008ish and the TRX late 2018 I think. It will be cool to see the what used to be the big 3 going tooth and nail again. But Mary Barra is to late.
I live in Pennsylvania. We don't have any off-road parks that I know of that I can take my current Trailboss and put it through it's Paces. Where if I slide off a rock that there isn't another one I'm going to smash into or trails that doesn't have tree branches hanging down on them waiting to remove my clear coat. Then I consider trading up to a ZR2 because there's no way I would give the dealership around me what they want for a new Trailboss. PS for what I so the truck for the Trailboss is better because of the G80 rear end. In the snow, I put the truck in auto with the self locking rear she quite well if gets really deep, I put it in 4 wheel
Rausch creek I hear good things about
There are several areas to go to. Depending on what part of PA you're from.
Thanks, but I traded her in last Friday and bought a 2023 BMW X4 M40I. She will be greatly missed. It was a tough decision, but it boiled down to price. Before I paid BMW prices for Chevrolet, I'll just buy a BMW
Oh? They’re finally getting into the Supercharged Baja universe? Now we’re talking
Asteroid & Meteor damn are they planet destruction vehicles lmfao 😂
I’ll believe it when I see it, if you’re a GM guy you know how GM is with giving us what we really want🤨…….how long have we been asking for an Escalade V and just now getting one! 🤦🏽♂️
The zr1 had the 755hp lt5 which was discontinued 🤦🏻♂️ but an lt4 could easily do 750
Right now the best thing chevy could do is offer a baja truck with a basic interior. Make it affordable. KISS
I thought the meteor was using icon suspension??
With the Dealer ship mark up your looking at 130k
Insane pricing.
Isn't the raptor the best seller of the f series trucks so how could demand be low
corvette zr1 motor?
Gotta be honest what’s the point of all these high performance vehicles when the price of gas keeps rising
I thought the trx was getting its balls cut off in the next year or 2 when ram replaces the supercharged hellcat v8 w the twin turbo in-line 6 cyclinder that was gonna decrease the horsepower by 200hp or so????
Whoever makes the next Baja truck should name it "Bruce Willis".
Like a rock, in space.
For the second straight year Ford has issued the most American recalls..VW was second 4.5 million GM a close third 4 million..
And still yet Chevy makes the crappies trucks on the market
Supercharge the current ZR2. No need for widebody.
Escalade-V is a good example to draw from. Transmission?
10 speed
4 sure
Nice. All the overpriced rich ZR2 owners are going to be pissed! All the Trailboss owners are mere peasants now. I grew up and saved 11k got me a Z71. I just cannot spend 100k on a truck I owe less on my house. However, it’s about time GM came to the market here to compete. This will be the king of the road and finally knock the Raptor off the planet.
The Corvette ZR1 only had 650 and thats only if it didn't get heat soaked .....lol I'm just glad GM is getting to the ring with Ford and Dodge.
Getting in the ring to get knocked right back out. Chevy sucks for trucks
