Thanks to this episode, I understand MEM's hard backstory. I think the story's reason why MEM is 25 years old is she and Sarina were almost the same generation. MEM was about 5 years younger than Sarina and Ai. So, MEM is a passionate fan of Ai and B-Komachi without age-related contradictions, like Ruby. In the dance practice scene, Kana wears T-shirt written "Baking Soda"🤭
Oh poor you guys😅😔, I'm into idol industry ( south Korea & Japan ) and REALLY unfortunately since 20 years old, idols are treated like old people, specially if they have other younger members. Is EXTREMELY RARE someone ( ESPECIALLY A GIRL , of course 😔🙄) to debut or get into a grout after 22 or +23, cuz is considered "too old".😢😢😢
Man, the entertainment industries try to capture your younger years before you reach a certain age! Then it gets people thinking that they need to accomplish their wildest dreams while they're young before they get too old, but that's not the truth! If you still make the most of your life even when you're only a kid and still have adventures, I'm sure anybody would agree that it is a fulfilling life!
appreciate the reaction y'all, but there's some stuff i think i should at least jot down here, figured it'll help expand and give context for them: - 3:10 In the context of who Memcho was probably applying for, it's understandable she'd feel old - for bigger name idol groups and the ones who typically follow their business model, 12-20 is indeed the age limit they have for applicants. They usually end their careers as idols before turning 25, then go on to other things. If things usually go as they do, several other applicants at the audition Memcho went to probably made it in, and she was probably acquainted with them - so it's entirely possible she'd know other people who had their whole career start and end before she had another chance to try again. - That said, depending on circumstances, some of those idols might stay around longer - so it's more common nowadays that you might see an idol from a big name idol group well into her late 20s or early 30s before graduating. - On the flip side of it, remember the chika idols (previously mentioned as underground idols, or indie idols) - they're not under big companies or big labels, so if there's a vision or goal they want, age isn't a big deal with modern idol groups. And there's still others who just declare themselves idols and give their damnest. I've seen idol groups where the youngest was 25, and others were older than that. If you're an idol starting from nothing, there's less rules, and more you can get away with. It really comes down to moxie. - 3:28 She said during the show she's fine with playing into being a side character, and turned down a confession at the end, so while she was chilling in hot water, she didn't cross any lines. - 3:55 Remember that Ai was 12 when she was scouted. - 8:30 Japan Idol Festival is based off of the actual Tokyo Idol Festival. It's a straight-up music festival, but with idols. A bunch of venues in the city across several blocks, 3 days of performances with 200+ performing acts. In slightly more specific numbers, those 200+ performing acts in 2017 were estimated to have 1500+ idols, while 80,000+ fans were in attendance. - 11:00 No, that actually is how it usually works for Japanese idols. They're both idol otaku, and these are both actual angles that idols play into. As the story's being told in the anime, their singing will be solid. But if this were in real life, their scores would point to them being average. Definitely better than plain terrible. Average with a personality, or average with the potential to get better, it's fine. But just above average and actually being able to sing would realistically be more efficient. - To expand on Ruby's point, the general structure of most idol groups nowadays don't necessarily train them thoroughly before starting them out. They'll get acclimated to what idol work would look like, but where, with kpop idols trainees will be comparatively solid singers and dancers before debut, japanese idol trainees make their debut earlier in the process. Someone had described the difference in that kpop idols start perfect, while jpop idols focus on the journey of reaching perfection. At the core of it for Japanese idols is that the first priority is that the idols have fun - from a more objective viewpoint, seeing someone enjoying themselves, seeing them be themselves, it can hook in fans who might like them in any sense of the word. - To expand on Memcho's point, Some former AKB48 members noticed that in the earlier generations they were part of, what was more important with them was standing out in terms of personality - when they'd guest on variety shows, or even on their own shows, or all sorts of events, that would be an opportunity to showcase yourself. Being way too serious and formal all the time, terribly unathletic, a scaredy cat, vitriolically sassy to the point of hilarity, anything.
No one talking about it so.. Aqua and Kana were reading the same book about acting, so is it implied that Kana is reading the book since she saw him reading the book in the school?
In Japan age for a woman is treated very differently than back in the states. For example a woman who's 25 and unmarried would likely face constant pressure from family, friends, and even coworkers to find a husband. Some people might call her a "Christmas Cake" which could be interpreted a number of ways but it essentially means that she's expired goods

I’m with Lupa, I thought those were their actual names.
Im glad that Roshi is team Kana aswell
Lmao the star eyes are basically the demon slayer mark
Tom Titanic Cruise needs Vincent Premium Diesel
Couldn't avoid hearing that Mem's older than she let on, glad it got revealed already
Lupa having an existential crysis after learning vin diesel is just a stage name
Kana flag raised! We got our girl the season ending exposure
Kana doesn't need the Staringan, she already got the Galaxygan.
About Mem being 25... we got to remember this is Japan Idol culture and not America. America Idols can start in their mid 20's but not in Japan. If some companies do, they are hiding the fact from the public.
it would make sense if kana was the center bc aqua convinced her to join + he wants to protect ruby (if she was the center like ai was, it could increase the risk in her safety)
This episode has 2 anime intros
It’s great how they made the 2nd one from 1 panel of the manga
Wow my life was a lie I didn’t know vin diesel was a stage name
In case you guys don't know the official channel for oshi no ko uploaded the actual music video.
Roshi over here dropping bombs on my head exposing all these celeb's real names 😂
"porter robinson" Yeah, it really remind me of that shelter mv
Thanks to you guys I now have to live with the knowledge that Vin Diesels real name is MARK, I can’t even look at the dude anymore without crying
The down side of being a tsundere
Watching anime and reading manga is always so exhilarating..
Mem was just on the reality dating show to gain publicity for her social media. She had no intentions to get any of the people there as she mentioned with her conversation with Aqua. lol
Why guys gotta drop truth bombs that shake my core
I translated the lyrics of Full Moon the best I could
Shiroku mabushiku anata no kokoro o ubau hikari ni naritai
I want to be the bright white light that steals your heart
Omoikiri ude hirogereba
If you spread your arms...
omou mama nodo furuwasereba
...and make your voice tremble
dare yori mo akaruku kagayaki hajimeru monogatari wa itsu demo omouga mama
A story of shining brighter than anyone else will be the way you want
Nagashita namida-tachi chirabaru manten no yozora
The Night Sky is full of scattered tears
kyō wa furu mūn
Today there's a FULL MOON
Sekaijū daremoga sora miage teru tōmei sumikitta butai
A clear and transparent stage where everyone in the world looks up at the sky
Hoshi no furu yoru
In a night full of stars
anata ni ichiban todoku mangetsu no hikari
Its the light of the full moon that reaches you the most
Shiroku mabushiku anata no kokoro o ubau hikari ni naritai
I want to be the bright white light that steals your heart
Thanks to this episode, I understand MEM's hard backstory. I think the story's reason why MEM is 25 years old is she and Sarina were almost the same generation. MEM was about 5 years younger than Sarina and Ai. So, MEM is a passionate fan of Ai and B-Komachi without age-related contradictions, like Ruby.
In the dance practice scene, Kana wears T-shirt written "Baking Soda"🤭
I've never seen girls so accurately portrayed in awhile
absolutely love Kana's singing 💖💖
I lost it at the "Directed by Porter Robinson" HAHAHAH
Kana wearing Baking Soda T-Shirt 🤣
new theory. These anime characters are all actors who are just acting in different anime
8:14 "Hmmm, let's see how much that is in USD....... WHAT????"
Ain't no way, this ending fvxking with my brain vro now I gotta google these actors
appreciate the reaction y'all, but there's some stuff i think i should at least jot down here, figured it'll help expand and give context for them:
- 3:10 In the context of who Memcho was probably applying for, it's understandable she'd feel old - for bigger name idol groups and the ones who typically follow their business model, 12-20 is indeed the age limit they have for applicants.
15:26 Lmao i can't i am surprised too. My whole life was a lie 😂
Im sure Patreon pointed it already but they showed Mem and Rubys score at the start of the scene
aqua do be playin with kana feelings like a fiddle easy
Kana is so goated and now Mem is finally in the group lets goo
15:46 IM FKING DYING BRO NO WONDER THESE ARE THE BEST YT REACTORS
Big Willard💀💀
Kana be like "yall trash, imma be the center singer anyway" *proceeds to destroy the scoreboard*
