It’s been only 1 month since i deleted my facebook instagram and more of my social media accounts. I only kept youtube, cuz as you can see there’s so much to learn in here. I feel so calm. All of my worries have disappeared from the day 1. Reason is i used to compare myself to a girl who i love. But actually i had a fear of missing out, fear of being worse than her. In addition i live alone, i used to find myself feeling sad and lonely almost every single weekend nights. Now I’m sort of loving it. After quitting social media I understood that nothing is gonna go, nothing is gonna disappear suddenly. Only my mind making it happen subjectively.
You're a great storyteller. The same story being told by someone else may sound generic and cliche, but you always have the right hook for people to care about yours.
My dad always tell me not to compare myself to others, but I feel the way I do it is different- usually with work only. I look at someone else effort and how well they did it and I use that to push me to do better.
explains a lot, i have never compared myself to others, not as a kid, not as a teen, not as an adult... i always wondered why i seemed much more content and happy than many peers 😂
@@SoRandom31 technically it is, but i think you can see the subtle difference to what Simon is talking about: it's about comparisons that you actively seek out, which then immediately trigger an emotional valuation, that make you feel either good or bad. and then sometimes they output a new set of actions that you are determined to follow, in order to change the current status of the comparison. versus in my case, it was a sort of diffuse, curious observation from a far, without judgement or emotional feedback.
Thanks for the great lessons! Jealousy at work constantly bothers me when I see some people are good at things that I am bad. Now I am trying to see more on my strengths.

Wow! Helpful learning. I was also confused about a person whom I sometimes hated and respected the same time. It can happen (I am not crazy). Lets focus on becoming better at what I am already good at. Thank you Mr. Sinek.
He's fixated only on half the problem. Feeling insecure about comparisons is bad, but feeling superior by comparison is perhaps worse. That's license to not respect others.
@@billtruttschel a cliché that has absolutely NOTHING to do with what I just said. 🙁 If person A is skinnier than person B, then person A might mock person B - and that has NOTHING to do with person B not "earning" respect. If person A has more subscribers than person B, it is not a license to treat person B disrespectfully. Again, Simon only addressed HALF the problem. Comparisons don't just make some feel insecure - they make others arrogant and disrespectful.
It doesn't matter which side of comparison you are on, it's bad. In both instances there could be a feeling of inferiority; you or the other person. By not comparing in the first place, both scenarios will be eliminated.
I constantly compare myself to my younger brother who i love to bits, he's just brilliant. Wonderful miund, generous, brave, resourceful etc etc I have to really try hard not to compare myself to him and when I do I find myself sinking into a horribly dark place.
Never ever compare yourself. Make a plan for your life and execute it, independent of anyone else. Never look at others around you. Focus only on your work. It's hard, but with practice you can master the skill. It is just a skill.
There is a man 10 years older than me yet his mental and physical capacity is 10 years below me. In 1 year I’ve progressed much faster than ever before (based on my personal perception) because I pay attention to everything he does and compare it to what I do, and make changes based on that. It's all about balance, no one is perfect.
SPOILERS for me the key takeaway from the story is that two different people with opposite traits are equally successful. so when you compare traits, it means nothing unless you consider yourself as a whole.

@@verenigingvandemagogen4548 your hypothesis does make sense but you cannot prove it.
@@1234makky Indeed. When one possible explanation seems significantly more likely than any other explanation, I tend to stick with that one.
He seems like the most down to earth motivational speaker, I like the guy . But I'm always on guard for this type of stuff.
How could someone not love you Simon, is beyond me...
Love the UA-cam channel, the podcasts on Spotify.
You're so admirable, infectiously inspiring, affectionate and the list could go on and on and on.
Nobody has made me cry or laugh (with them) so much as you have with your stories or story telling.
Please, don't ever stop what you're doing.
You've helped me so much in my healing process, just by listening to your podcast or by watching your videos... I'm sure there are many others that can relate.
All the best Simon 🙌🏻🙏🏼
Maybe because a lot of what he says is just recycled garbage you can pick up from any two-bit self-help book in an airport, delivered with the same amount of sincerity as a copy-pasted LinkedIn post?
Thank You So Much for this wonderful video.............🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

My god .. what a perspective he has ... I really wish that ceos and mangers of word has same kind of perspective he has ..it would really change the corporate culture!!! ..1000% respect to Simon
He's not the messiah, he'a a mere motivational speaker. You have free access to him compared to your school hiring one to motivate students
Very wise words. A lot of people are sucked up in the world of social media, forgetting what's actually important in life.
It's good for us to celebrate each other success and that will bring out the real authenticity in each other, it's make the world a better place for all of us. No jealous, just love 👍👍👍
There is always a person out there who is better at something than we are.
Forunately sometimes, we are that person...
“It’s Healthy To Grow Our Own Strength Rather Than Being Intimidated By The Strength Of Others”
well I hate you because you are so gifted at speaking and thinking off the cuff. I am an introverted leader and sometimes grasp for words. Lots to learn from you!!
Wow, I just love this man and he makes me feel so light at times when I feel low🦉
He is amazing indeed😂
This happens without thinking in our competitive world, thanks for bringing awareness 💪🏻
You're a great storyteller. The same story being told by someone else may sound generic and cliche, but you always have the right hook for people to care about yours.
Comparison leads to jealousy, very unproductive feeling... Thanks for sharing
My dad always tell me not to compare myself to others, but I feel the way I do it is different- usually with work only. I look at someone else effort and how well they did it and I use that to push me to do better.
I love your stories, thank you for helping people and being you.
I love the sense of closeness and intimacy that the crowd gives this video
explains a lot, i have never compared myself to others, not as a kid, not as a teen, not as an adult... i always wondered why i seemed much more content and happy than many peers 😂
Isn't the claim that you were more content than others still technically a comparison? 🤔
You'll realize how far you are in your journey, but you'll soon realize you can go even further and achieve greater challenges.
Keep going my friend. 💥💥
Looking up to others is one of the best things you can do, you can always assume the other person knows something that you don't, so there's always something to learn from them
You just gotta keep going and fighting for everything, and one day you'll get to where you want. 🦁
I believe in you, keep your hustle up.
My dad always told me. No matter how good you are, how much money you make, there is always someone out there better or with more money.
It’s a really cool story! Thank you for your speech:)
It is difficultés for me to believe that you Can feel insecure. You are so inspiring by all your words. Thank you for sharing all your thoughts and guide us to live in a better World 😅💐
I wish a Happy New Year 2024 🎉💕
Wow!
Helpful learning.
I was also confused about a person whom I sometimes hated and respected the same time. It can happen (I am not crazy).
Lets focus on becoming better at what I am already good at.
Thank you Mr. Sinek.
Is it just me.... Or are these 3 minutes of Simon better than many 20 minute lectures out there?!!
Exactly
He's fixated only on half the problem. Feeling insecure about comparisons is bad, but feeling superior by comparison is perhaps worse. That's license to not respect others.
Yes, however, respect must be earned, not expected.
That has nothing to do with what he's saying though, it's purely your fixation
@@vsezaye Yes, it does. You're wrong.
It doesn't matter which side of comparison you are on, it's bad. In both instances there could be a feeling of inferiority; you or the other person.
By not comparing in the first place, both scenarios will be eliminated.
I heard this really good phrase: if you work on your weaknesses, all you end up with are really good weaknesses. Work on your strengths instead!
Short story big lesson. 👍
I constantly compare myself to my younger brother who i love to bits, he's just brilliant. Wonderful miund, generous, brave, resourceful etc etc I have to really try hard not to compare myself to him and when I do I find myself sinking into a horribly dark place.
I really try to be inspired by him and it has helped at times over my life.
This is so true! Thanks for sharing this!
Never ever compare yourself. Make a plan for your life and execute it, independent of anyone else. Never look at others around you. Focus only on your work. It's hard, but with practice you can master the skill. It is just a skill.
One of the 12 rules of life by Jordan Peterson: only compare yourself with you yesterday.
🙏😎🙏
Man that was life changing. And what makes it so valuable is that it was a candid story. His own humble story which I loved.
I love this!!! Thank you for your wisdom and honest stories.🙌🏼😁
How true is it that when we spend time comparing to others through our own filter that we will consistently come up short. Powerful.
I love this story so much 😂😂😂❤️❤️❤️ thank you for sharing such good contents!
"Comparison is the deadliest ...we can do to ourselves" Agreed💯💯💯
SPOILERS
for me the key takeaway from the story is that two different people with opposite traits are equally successful. so when you compare traits, it means nothing unless you consider yourself as a whole.
