- I review the Makita 9924DB Belt Sander in this video. This 3"x 24" belt sander has been around for almost 30 years! I have some extra time on my hands so I am catching up on some review videos.
It's a beast and it was really helpful when I was shaping a wooden surfboard. It will also take 4 " belts too.
In my opinion if you don't need a variable speed belt sander, this belt sander is awesome, it's built to last.

I just ordered one today. The rectangular dust port put me off initially but there is an attachment available at some stores.
I nearly ordered the Hitachi 3 x 21 inch belt sander. At the last minute I saw a review from a guy in Italy (the vid was in Italian). He found the belt wandered too much on the Hitachi and said his $40 Skill sander was better.
The fact that this design has been in production for 30 years says everything.
I inherited my Father's 9924DB, which I believe he purchased new back in the 90s? I recall it when I was a kid. Our 9924DB is still going strong. Yes, it is absolutely identical to the one Andrew W reviewed above, and it doesn't look like Makita has changed anything on it in all that time. I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it! I have one that I think is forty years old and was amazed they I could still get parts. I just replaced the trigger switch and brushes. Still going strong. My son is 3D printing an adapter for the shopvac which we found on thingiverse
Nice i got the makita 9403 and love it.
I love most makita products. Especially the ones like these that have been made for years. Same great quality of an older tool but brand new
Most new tools are trash these days that are just fully plastic

How can I get my beltsander fixed. Ever time I put it on apiece of shelf boards the beltsander belts come off on 9924 3x24 18footcord.motor runs great but snaps belts
They also make a 4x24 model but it’s like another extra$100

I used 4” belts on mine & they started to eat into the housing

It tracksbelt fine but put it on white pine and belts break
Adapter for vacuum is simple . round PVC tube ...heat over a gas stove till PVC is maliable like rubber press round over the square hole in the sander. It conforms to the new shape and let cool .gloves maybe if you have girly hands lol😅

I was wandering, if his is variable and has not realised yet.
