-- UPDATE! -- (Pin if necessary)
With the current version of Blender which is 3.2.1 there have been some changes to names etc.
+ Point Distribute > Distribute Points on Faces
+ Attribute Randomize > White Noise Texture
+ Point Instance > Instance on Points

    • @Ohshirho
      @Ohshirho Рік тому +53

Not sure why you mentioned white noise texture there, so may I clarify the new setup a bit for those that might get confused, if you don't mind. The new motherboard node group should look like this: *Distribute Points on Faces* connected to *Instance on Points* via points to points. *Object info* with selected object (Element 1 or 2) connected to *Instance on Points* via Geometry to Instance. *Random Value* set to Vector (this is where you modify the random scale values) connected to *Instance on Points* via value to scale. This is the new setup for blender 3.3 (not sure about previous versions).
Awesome intro tutorial and great picture. Thanks! ))

Awesome work putting that together, this was my first real look into geometry nodes, safe to say dived in the deep end. Definetly something I need to play around with more in the future.

at 32:50 the correct node tree for this in Blender 3.6 is GROUP INPUT set above OBJECT INFO (which will be changed to CHIP 1 in the Value window), VALUE will be below OBJECT INFO, This can be changed to whatever value works for size of objects. To the Right of that will be the INSTANCE ON POINTS with JOIN GEOMETRY to the right of that and then the tree will end with GROUP OUTPUT.
The sequence of connections will be as follows:
    Important nodes are:
    OBJECT INFO
    VALUE
    INSTANCE ON POINTS
    JOIN GEOMETRY
GROUP OUTPUT- GEOMETRY connected to JOIN GEOMETRY
GROUP OUTPUT- (second button underneath Geometry will be attached to SELECTION on INSTANCE TO POINTS
OBJECT INFO- GEOMETRY connected to INSTANCE on INSTANCE ON POINTS
VALUE- will be connected to SCALE on INSTANCE ON POINTS
INSTANCE ON POINTS will be connected to JOIN GEOMETRY (1st or second slot
JOIN GEOMETRY will connect to GROUP OUTPUT
and finally the most important part Navigate to the PROPERTIES editor window for the MODIFIERS tab and ensure that you select the IMPUT ATTRIBUTE TOGGLE just below the NODE TREE link Menu. Activate the little awkward cross looking icon and input the VERTEX GROUP just created into there.
